Within Babcock State Park, this established campground serves as a base for exploring one of West Virginia's most photographed landmarks. The WV Division of Natural Resources manages 51 sites spread across multiple loops, with 28 offering electric hookups and full RV accommodations up to 50 feet.
The main campground loop sits relatively open with close-cut grass, where "every camper has a view of the other," as one reviewer notes. Sites on the inner portion provide easy access to the central playground without crossing roads. The smaller loops and sites across Old Clifftop Road offer slightly more wooded settings, though none provide significant privacy between neighbors. Jean C. found her site approach "sloped, but the top was relatively level with gravel and more than suitable for my teardrop camper." Site selection matters—several reviewers warn that site 17 lacks level ground, while sites like 19 and 21 offer better spacing for tent camping.
A single bathhouse serves all campsites with flush toilets, warm showers, and coin-operated laundry facilities. Staff clean the facilities twice daily during peak season. The park's trail system extends over 20 miles, including the popular Mann's Creek Gorge Trail that begins at the campground and leads to swimming holes and waterfalls. The famous Glade Creek Grist Mill sits about two miles away, along with Boley Lake for fishing and paddle craft rentals.
Access requires navigating narrow, winding mountain roads that can challenge larger RVs on tight turns. Cell coverage remains inconsistent throughout the campground, though stronger near the main park facilities. The no-alcohol policy applies to all camping areas. For additional camping options in the region, consider Brooklyn Campground — New River Gorge National Park and Preserve or Meadow River Campground. Reserve ahead during fall foliage season when the grist mill photography draws peak crowds.
