You just got back from the last trip of the season, and somewhere along the way home, you started making a mental list. The mattress is wrong. You want a bigger fridge. Whoever designed this bathroom has never used a bathroom.
Good news: RV show season kicks off this month!
If you’ve never gone to one, here’s what you’re actually walking into.
Seventeen cities, October through March
RV Supershows runs over 17 shows across 13 states this season. It opens in Myrtle Beach October 23-25, breaks for the holidays, then runs hard from early January through late March. It hits Atlanta, Chicago, Davenport, Knoxville, Savannah, Phoenix, the Gulf Coast, two New England stops on the same February weekend, and Las Vegas, Philadelphia, and Pomona to close it out.
That spread means most readers have a show within driving distance at some point this winter. It’s worth checking the season calendar now while you still remember what annoyed you about your rig.

What a ticket actually gets you
Ticket prices vary by city, so check your show’s page on the season calendar. Admission covers the full floor, free seminars all weekend, and the towing academy. Kids 16 and under get in free. Buy an RV at the show and the exhibiting dealer credits your admission back against the deal.
Every ticket also includes six months of The Dyrt PRO, a $30 value. That’ll be useful later, when you’re working out where to take the thing.
Walk the floor plans, not the price tags
Here’s what a show does that no dealer lot can: it puts forty floor plans within a ten-minute walk of each other.
Bring a tape measure. Sit down in the dinette. Lie down on the bed. Close the bathroom door behind you and see whether you can turn around in there. Open the overhead cabinets and picture your own gear in them.
Then photograph the spec sticker on every rig you liked. Dry weight, GVWR, tongue weight. Those numbers matter more than the countertops, and they’re the ones everybody forgets by the time they get home.
The towing academy is the sleeper
The Ultimate Towing Experience is taught by RVIA-certified technicians and covers weight ratings and capacities, trailer hookup, weight distribution, and backing up, with live demonstrations running throughout.
Free, hands-on towing instruction is genuinely hard to find. If you already own a travel trailer and have been white-knuckling every reverse into a site, this alone justifies your attendance!
Before you sign anything
Show pricing runs on a weekend clock, and that’s by design. It doesn’t mean the deals aren’t real, it means you should walk in expecting the pressure.
Get the out-the-door number in writing, including fees, prep, and financing terms. Compare it against one quote from a dealer near home. A rig that’s right for you on Sunday afternoon is still right for you on Tuesday.
Then go figure out where to take it
Pick the show nearest you on the season calendar – Myrtle Beach this fall, or any of the 18 stops between January and March. When your confirmation email lands, activate the PRO membership and then start planning your next trip.
You’ll learn more about a new RV in two nights close to home than in two months of reading about it.
