Waterfall enthusiasts will find direct access to both upper and lower Potato River Falls from this five-site Iron County campground. Reached via a two-mile gravel road, the remote location attracts campers seeking solitude in heavily wooded terrain. Sites accommodate tents and smaller RVs, though only one spot works for larger motorhomes up to 43 feet.
The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with vault toilet facilities and no potable water source. Campers filter river water or bring their own supply. Most sites remain well-spaced through the forest, creating natural privacy between camping areas. A covered picnic shelter provides gathering space near the main parking area.
Falls access requires descending steep staircases, with the climb back up proving challenging for some visitors. "Definitely for people looking to be secluded," notes Karrigan I.. The area connects to UTV trail systems and offers hiking opportunities beyond the waterfall viewing. Bug pressure increases during summer months, making insect repellent essential.
Iron County manages this location as part of their forest system, charging $10 per night for developed sites. The narrow access road may challenge larger RVs, and weekend availability fills quickly during peak season. Campers can explore places to camp near Iron County Forest for additional options in the region.
