Great hidden gem

Stayed here on a Labor Day weekend. Well kept good bathroom with a waterfall in the park.

Beautiful local town campground

This campground is amazingly well kept. It’s small but a local man told us they had 2 campers one weekend- good to know if you can’t find other spots. The best part are the cool and unique campsites. Grassland yet tall trees infuse each site differently. One is tucked away. Another is in the middle but the plentiful trees separate you.

A local man told us that all the money earned goes back into the campground. He was painting one shelter (the other one needs it to). They are upgrading the electric next week and moving some sites around. I love the rocky boulders making each fire ring but they are switching them out for metal rings with grates. A beautiful campground found unexpectedly!

Frequently Asked Questions

What activities can visitors enjoy at Upson Park and the surrounding area?

Visitors to Upson Park can enjoy waterfall viewing within the park boundaries, offering excellent photography opportunities and peaceful natural settings. The park's mix of grassland and forested areas creates ideal conditions for hiking, nature observation, and bird watching. The area is perfect for those seeking quiet relaxation and connection with nature. While specific trails aren't detailed, the park's natural landscape provides ample space for outdoor exploration. For those staying overnight, the unique campsites offer distinctive camping experiences under tall trees, each with its own character and atmosphere.

What facilities and amenities are available at Upson Falls Campground?

Upson Falls Campground offers well-maintained facilities in a small, intimate setting. The campground features clean bathrooms with running water and diverse campsites spread throughout the property. Each campsite has its own unique character – some are tucked away in private corners, others are in more open areas, but all benefit from a mix of grassland and tall trees providing natural ambiance. The park is meticulously kept with regular maintenance. A beautiful waterfall is located within the park grounds, enhancing the natural appeal of this camping destination.

How does Upson Falls Campground compare to other Wisconsin state parks like Copper Falls?

Unlike larger Wisconsin state parks such as Copper Falls, Upson Falls Campground is a smaller, more intimate community park offering a quieter, less crowded experience. While Copper Falls State Park is known for its extensive trail systems and multiple waterfalls, Upson provides a single waterfall attraction in a more compact setting. Upson excels in offering unique, character-filled campsites with varying layouts among grasslands and tall trees. The campground is exceptionally well-maintained but offers fewer amenities than state parks. Upson Falls makes an excellent alternative when larger state parks are fully booked, with reports of very low occupancy even during holiday weekends.

How do I get to Upson Falls Campground in Wisconsin?

Upson Falls Campground is located in northern Wisconsin, part of Iron County. While specific directions aren't detailed, the campground is accessible by road and appears to be well-known locally. The campground's small size makes it somewhat of a hidden gem in the area. For precise directions, contact the Iron County tourism office or check with local authorities. GPS coordinates or official mapping services should be able to guide visitors directly to this well-maintained community park.
