Best Equestrian Camping near Shawano, WI

This Beach is perfect, horse trails, biking trails. Right along the ice age trail!

No matter what your skill level you can find a trail here from easy to challenging to hike or bike.  There is a beach, a marina, Lake Winnebago, horse trails, hiking, biking and pet beach and picnic area.  The park is very clean and pretty.  There is a playground, several vault toilet areas spread around and a shower house.   Some sites have electric and there is a dump station and water fill up.   

Both AT &T and Verizon provided good service and the ability to stream.  Spaces are large and have many  trees for shade and privacy.

This is a state run campground that provides plenty of hiking, biking and horse riding trails. There is also access to Lake Winnebago for boating and swimming. The camp sites are all either partially or fully shaded with a good amount of privacy for each site. Plenty or pit toilets are provided and there are also plumbed toilets and showers available on the campground.

This campground is perfect for a weekend getaway or for those families just starting out. It is close enough to town to be able to run in and get forgotten items. There are plenty of playground equipment for kids to run and climb on. If you are looking for a rustic get away this may not be exactly what you are looking for but it is a great spot to get out of the city for a day or two.

It was a bit chilly to enjoy the lake unfortunately, but the hiking is amazing. There are great rock outcrops for bouldering and exploring. All over just beautiful. Definitely one of my favorites in Wisconsin!!

Great place to explore with the fam. Hike the trails to see pieces of Wisconsin history throughout. Some trails on the Ridgeline offer vista views and moderate inclines that add to the adventure. There's plenty to do from fishing to hiking mountain biking lookout towers and parks .

We visited Bay beach in Green Bay and then wanted to spend the night near Green Bay in our 35’ class A. Not making reservations in Wisconsin during the summer is risky but fell upon this beautiful 50% first come county campground that is well kept. Both 50 and 30 amp service with hiking, biking, gardens and more.

This was my first time camping in a Wisconsin state park and I thought it was great! Our site backed up to a trail along the cliff which was awesome for a family that loves to hike. I felt for a state park most of the sites were spacious, ours was particularly because we had no site behind us. Shower house was clean. Will be back!

Another spacious Wisconsin State Park site. #2 is level and listed as full shade but we had enough sun to recharge our Jackery everyday. It helps that it was blue skies each day! All sites were rented for the weekend and there were just a few no-shows. Even full there wasn’t enough noise to mention. We were near the entrance and enjoyed watching all the cars and campers coming and going. The shower house was fine, a very short walk for us. The camp host was friendly and quick to clean sites. There’s single stream recycling at the dump station and they take glass! Cell reception was good enough (Visible) There’s much to do in the park and in the area. We hiked, fished, golfed, shopped and ate well from what we find. I recommend the Appleton Farmers’ Market, Dick’s Family Foods in Sherwood Nieman’s Southside Market in Appleton.

A beautiful park with lots of history! The park entranace sits just after the High Cliff golf course for all you golfers and then follows the East side of Lake Winnebago with beautiful views of the Fox Valley area. This park features many hiking and biking trails, none of which are over exhilarating but enough for everyone at all levels. Climb spectacular cliff formations or just walk through the many cliff crevice's is something kids will remember. This park features an awesome General Store with some souvenirs to purchase and lots of information and history of the park. This can be a busy park for day walkers so the park can seem busier than it is at times. This is a popular park and can get busy but It never seems crowed unless a typical wedding reception is being held toward the North end by the observation tower. There is High Cliff Restaurant as well as a pizza, sandwich and ice cream shop with mini golf toward the entrance of the park. If you ever have the opportunity to visit this park during the month of October, this park offers an awesome trick or treat weekend where the campground woods is changed into a haunting and fun campground. Check the parks web page for exact weekend. Kids trick or treat at each campsite and the campground is transformed into a Halloween city! This is a popular event and is super busy but safe and fun for the kids and the adults! The campers go all out to have the best decorations! This event is open to the public and campers. Campground Review: As someone who has camped my whole life, mostly at Wisconsin State Park, it is surprising that this was my first time at Hartman Creek. Hartman Creek has pretty spacious sites, though they can range from very big to just big enough. Our site was larger, almost fully shaded under a mix of coniferous and deciduous trees. The only thing I didn't like was the sandy soil, but otherwise our site was awesome.

There is ample hiking opportunities in the area, some you can walk to from the campground, some requires a small amount of driving. The lake was a smaller lake, but nice for swimming. They do a great job of keeping the beach and swimming area clean.

Overall it was a great time and we'll definitely be back.

Gear review: A couple months ago I won the contest for WI and was excited to test the Mountain House 5-Day Kit. Ever since I started backpacking I've heard and seen the Mountain House packs. I never bought them because I like to prepare my own food, and I enjoy cooking on the trail. Since I won it I was very curious.

I have to say I was very impressed with the ease of making the food: just boil a couple cups of water, pour it in, mixed it, and seal it for 9 minutes. Voila! A tasty meal.

I had the Chili Mac, and it was awesome. For someone trying to save weight on the trail, or those not confident in your cooking (or trail cooking), I can definitely recommend Mountain House meals.

The box calls it an emergency 5 day kit, and it has a shelf life of 12+ years. For emergency purposes, it is an awesome thing to have on hand, especially in areas that are prone to loss of power, flooding, tropical storms, etc.

For myself, I don't know that I'll purchase Mountain House meals at full price for backpacking or camping, but I definitely think it is a "Ranger worthy" product that is very useful for the right situation and right person.

Its been awhile since we've been here, so we will be making a trip in the future. The place is great! Big secluded sites. Plenty of shade. My favorite sites are on the river as its relaxing and comforting listening to the fast moving stream especially at night. You can bring your ATV to ride on the ATV track there or on the trails in the woods. We seen deer while riding through the trails. If you dont have an ATV you can always just kick back and relax or go to the track and watch a race of they're hosting an event that weekend. Its just an overall great rustic campsite. They recently updated the sites to have electric. They do have RV sites with full hookups. Showers and flushable toilets up at the entrance. Brochures and local information available as well. You can fish but all ive caught was some chubs. I heard you can get trout. You wont be disappointed! Its run by the small city/town/village of Tigerton. support the small local communities. There is a small restaurant/gas station down the road or go into town and there's a grocery store and a local tavern.

I’ve been going here every year since for at least 10 years. The campsites are perfect, and there’s so many fun things to do. They have a little footbridge to fish off of, a playground, and a nice beach. You can rent out kayaks and little boats. There’s lots of hiking trails. One trail leads to a scenic overlook and another leads to slippery rock. Slippery Rock is a waterfall from the river that you can actually slide down. They also have a rock you can jump off as well into water. Also there’s a big pond where you can boat and swim and there’s a sandbar too. I love this place so much I got a tattoo of the coordinates.

Chute pond park is one of my favorite campgrounds to stay at. They have reasonable rates, clean bathrooms and almost all sites are electric. There’s lots to do the whole weekend whether you want to go hiking, fishing, boating, small cliff jumping, or take a walk to slippery rock. This year they also have now available kayaks for rent at $20 per hour.

The tent sites are a great size and semi private (you can have a conversation and not be heard at other sites). The bathroom and showers are decent and cleaned daily around 6 am. There are reservable and walk-in sites. The sites also have extra parking across from them.

There is a lot to do for kids a great play area, swimming, fishing, boating etc. There are hiking trails but not a lot.

The couple I went with had issues with the site next to them ( loud inappropriate language and using drugs) the rangers responded quickly and efficiently!

I have been there summer and late spring.

Spent a great night with my son and our dog. Staff delivered fire directly to our site. Watching lightning storms approach from over the lake was exhilarating .

Bay Shore Park was an ok campground. The scenery and Bay were very nice.

The electric and water hookups were on opposite sides of the site, and we had to keep adjusting the travel trailer to get both to actually hook up.

The ground was a sandy-dirt, which wasn't too bad at first, but after an overnight rain it was a muddy mess.
