Riverside and roadside

The St. Albans roadside park is for pull behind campers only. No tents allowed. About 6-7 sites for campers. You are literally about 20 yards from the main road, which is the only negative thing with road noise. On the other side is the kanawha river. Each site has a fire pit and…

Nice park, neglected on maintenance

We had read about the quietness of Forked Run and it was we had a loop all to ourselves and only about 15 campers in the whole campground,

It was very clean and the areas coming into the campground beautifully maintained, but once we got to our campsite it was covered in trash, cigarette butts,…

Terrible for large Campers

The GPS led us up a gravel road with no signs for miles. Internet and cell service cut out within a mile up that road and we were not sure we were going the right way. The sights are on top of windy uphill mountain roads which we now call death mountain. Upon arriving, no one was as the visitors…

Free!

Loud road noise, but for free electric hookup, it’s worth it.

Great Campsite

Literally the only downside to this spot was no cell phone reception for my niece and nephews to contact there parents and let them know how things were going. There was plenty of space for the kids to run around without disturbing anyone. And the sites were nicely spaced with plenty of wooded…

Winter Visit

We stopped here on Thanksgiving on our way South. Self paying, off season was $15. But the restrooms were closed. There were only 3 other sides occupied. Nice little campground in the Appalachian Foothills. Be aware that Google maps doesn't send you to the campground but to a parking lot at the…

Nice!

Super friendly camp host. He met us and drove us to the camp park because it was so dark. Spacious sites, and he is making amazing improvements to the park. Beautiful river setting.

Free Free

I don’t have a lot to add to the other reviews, yes, it’s very close to a roadway and train tracks, but it’s free!

Near boat ramp

So I came to this campground because it’s free. I arrived and found the dump station and filled my water tank with potable water, when I moved onto the three spots available (only one was taken) I read the sign that clearly says only RV’s and Trailers allowed and all other will be towed at owners…

Solitude.....mostly

Decided to go to Forked Run because its close to home and we had never camped there. Been fishing, hiking & swimming there over the years, but never camping. Some of the back in sites are REALLY short so we changed our originally reserved spot once we got there. We wound up being the only ones…

Very peaceful

I discovered this park in 2019 while on a history road trip to Marietta, Ohio and Blanerhasset Island.  I’ve since returned to Forked Run just to spend a peaceful weekend The park has over 150 campsites and the times I’ve been there, only a few were occupied. I felt like I had the whole park to…

Party Central

We enjoyed our stay at Huntington/Fox Fire KOA! This is a holiday KOA that offers more amenities for vacationers. It has very close proximity to I-64 in West Virginia, and you can hear the traffic pretty clearly.

The staff is wonderful, they obviously care very much about their jobs and we…

Interesting state park

It’s place was a last minute booking for us as we needed to kill 2 days before our next planned stop in North Carolina. I’d say most reviews are pretty accurate I read on here. Bathrooms dated camp spots are small except for a few in the first loop that were pull through. Out of the whole…

Very unprofessional

We had a site requested for a week and when we arrived we got the site it hadn’t been mowed in a few weeks it was up to my knees and had no picnic table, no fire ring and wanted to put the camper on a hill that it would have taking 6 2x6s stacked on top of each other to even get it level. We will…
