Pretty and clean, but a bit cramped

The campground in general was very nice: playgrounds and a lake nearby, and suitably close to a number of small towns and the Alder Lake Dam to have stuff to check out.

Unfortunately, our campsite (53) wasn't trimmed back sufficiently, so the grassy area where you'd normally put a tent was about…

  • Firewood was $7 a bundle from the camp host, and they had carts to bring it back to your campsite.
  • The swimming area is marked off by big booms and was fairly calm.

Nice basic campground.

Stayed here over Memorial weekend.  It was free to stay, you just have to have a reservation to stay.

THis is a DNR campground, so it has nothing but outhouses.  There is a hand pump for water, but it has a sign that says the water is not potable.

We were in site #5, it was a bit…

The best campground!!

La wis wis was an amazing campground with lots of awesome spots. We chose one right by a trail that let to a beautiful waterfall and creek. The sites were clean with well maintained bathrooms nearby. Side note: our campground hosts Jack & Jill even helped jumpstart our car!

Nice resort on the lake

Enjoyed our stay. Spent most of the time on the lake fishing, so we didn't explore the resort much. Great people here, very helpful and friendly.

Beautiful and Spacious

We stayed for seven nights in this beautiful campground. Our spot was a very spacious pull through with water and electric. Campground was completely full on weekends but we had it to ourselves during the week. Walking distance to the day use beach area. Very clean showers. Well maintained sites…

Opens only on May 27

We were looking forward to a quiet and simple night camping in our little rented self-contained camper van on the last day of a 12-day road trip. We arrived at the end of the road to find the campground closed, so we ended up abandoning our final night and driving home. The campground is pretty,…

Beautiful Campground

I believe this campground is under new ownership. You can see they’ve been putting a lot of work into it. Paving roads, landscaping, etc. Looks great and well maintained. RV spots are gravel pads and had water and electric, some had full hook up too. Some spots are better suited for larger rigs…

Great clean bathrooms!

Peaceful, pretty, private, with beautifully clean cedar bathroom/showers and thoughtful touches, like a box of tissues in the laundry and nice-smelling lavender hand soaps provided. We had a lovely start to our volcano-climbing honeymoon here.

Tons of things to do and that's just the campground

We used this campground as our base camp for exploring the area. Walk down to the river, play on the field, drive up to Mt St Helens visitor's center.

Clean and tidy but not much privacy

This is a very basic campground, but it's clean and very well maintained. It's about 10 minutes off Rt. 3, all the way on paved roads, which do get pretty narrow as you enter the park. The sites, some of which are reservable, are pretty close together and don't offer much privacy. Some are right…

Close to Mayfield lake

Decided to take advantage of the beautiful April 2021 weather and headed out for our first camping trip of the year here. We lucked out with it being their opening weekend, the campground was maybe 50% full and FCFS, we ended up staying in the upper loop site 13. The large site could easily fit a…

Nice place

Beautiful spot, though tightly packed and crowded/noisy. We stayed in spot 59 on a Saturday night. It was rainy and the fire pit area had plenty of puddles. Lots of folks came in later in the evening with multiple cars and sat out talking; plenty of them packed up and left before 8 am. We walked…
