ScoutThe Blue Ridge Parkway is currently closed just south of the Peaks of Otter area. Traffic is being detoured just behind the campground. This was the 4th of July weekend so may be u usual, but the traffic was all day and night. There was a lot of commotion at 4 am—hikers in the parking lot to make the summit for dawn. Many sites were tiered—I had steps or the worn path down to the actual site from where I parked. The sites were spacious and well kept. Gravel tent site —common in the area but I’m not a fan. There were sites open on the holiday weekend….no wonder. Beautiful area. I’ll go back to the lodge (been there a few times) but I’ll camp somewhere else.

ScoutThis was a quiet spot that felt safe, with a pit toilet nearby to the trailhead parking area. Car camping is the only option at this time. It appears that the tent camping area is no longer available and is fenced off for environmental protection reasons.
TravelerShowed up around 5pm and were the only ones there. 6-8 different sites, all are beautiful and most are right next to the creek. There was a fire ring and man made stone oven at the site we chose.
ScoutThe visit was great. The campground is small and the amenities are limited. It’s not going to be a spend all your time at the campground and never get bored experience. However, the grounds are well kept, the shower and bathrooms were clean and the people working the grounds were friendly and helpful. Cell service is spotty but WiFi is available and adequate enough to stream movies. I was in site B31 full hookup and it was nearly at the front of the park. My water pressure was good but talking to other campers, the farther away you get from the front of the park the worse the water pressure gets. This came from a gentleman who had a site at the very back of the campground. This is a great place to use as a stop or a jumping off point for other adventures in the area.
TravelerI enjoyed my stay in this wooded campground. The sites were equipped with fire rings and picnic tables and level, gravel areas to park cars In front of your site. You couldn't pull your car into the site because of the wood bollards but I think that is a good thing.
There was a set of 2 well-maintained pit toilets. A Creek ran nearby the campground and there were options for trails. The campsites were well spaced apart.

We got in late in the afternoon after the last tour woke up early and caught the first tour before heading on our way.
Bathrooms at the campground are not great. They women’s is better then the men’s. Needs to coat of paint but they are decently clean.
