Thousand Trails Lynchburg

Multiple campers note the rough road conditions accessing this Thousand Trails property in Gladys, Virginia, with some loops in better shape than others. The campground operates seasonally from late April through October, accommodating RVs up to 50 feet with full hookups, though most sites offer 30-amp service rather than 50-amp.

John B. describes the location as "remote and quiet," particularly during shoulder seasons when crowds thin out. The property sits near a lake and provides access to hiking trails and the Blue Ridge Parkway. During peak season, the campground fills significantly with seasonal campers occupying many of the prime sites.

Road maintenance varies across different loops, with some areas experiencing washouts and requiring attention. The C Loop receives better reviews for road conditions compared to other sections. Staff assistance and online reservations through the Thousand Trails system help secure available sites, especially important given the seasonal nature and popularity during summer months.

Campers seeking additional options in the region can explore campgrounds around Rustburg. The property includes standard amenities like restrooms, showers, and WiFi, making it suitable for RV travelers passing through central Virginia or those planning extended stays during the operating season.

Many campers appreciated the helpful staff and family amenities like the pool, plus proximity to Blue Ridge Parkway. However, electrical limitations and road conditions vary significantly by loop, with infrastructure needing attention.

Third visit

Remote and quiet location. In season this place is very busy. Our visit is pre Memorial Day so it is low key. 80-90% of sites are 30 Amp. Limited 50 amp. TT maintains all facilities in a similar way and your experience will vary. We are passing thru so to be fair, it is best to come back for a longer stay

Beautiful in Summertime!

This was the perfect spot to stay after a long drive. We saw bunnies and then lightening bugs. The pool was great for the kids.

C Loop is the best for sure!!!

Stayed here about a month ago and the A loop was in terrible shape as far as the roads go. That said, the C Loop (C62 is our site) is very nice and in good condition, in comparison.

Area is Beautiful!

The campground is close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and hiking trails (a plus!) but, definitely opt for a full hook-up site! Only open from May to October each year so be sure to check that out before just showing up! Plenty of activities to include water sports, trail system as noted, and the area is absolutely stunning. Rolling hills and greenery all around. Peaceful area!
