Beautiful views, Beautiful place

This has been my all time favorite place that I’ve camped. We had a gorgeous spot and the bathrooms were also super clean too. The cows roaming around was also so nice, we even saw some coyotes and deer. The stars were also so visible at night too. The road wasn’t too bad to get too either. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Beautiful views

We arrived in the rain and it wasn’t bad, probably because we were in our jeep. But the space is great and the view was amazing. I wouldn’t take my Class C RV there due to the dirt roads. Great price, would visit again soon. Cellphone reception was good, ATT. StarLink was fantastic.

Gorgeous site next to Zion NP

This campground was gorgeous as advertised. It was a tad windy the first night, but died down soon enough. Located 1.5 mi from Zion NP “Subway Hike” trailhead. Strenuous but amazing hike. Even had a heard of Mule deer cruise through near our site.

Amazing views

Love this property and the views are incredible. You Do not get to reserve your spot but I don’t think it matters because anywhere on the property is beautiful. I also don’t think the roads are as bad as some say. You just definitely probably wouldn’t want to come after it has been raining.

Wright Beautiful in Zion!

The Zion Wright Family Ranch is gorgeous. You will not get tired of gazing at the beauty. It is close enough to Zion National Park and also a perfect place to recharge. We enjoyed a wonderful horseback ride with Mr. Wright too. We think their ranch is a little glimpse of heaven!

Really nice place to camp

Really big property with excellent views of Zion and at night the starts look very clear. The porta potties were very clean with paper. We drove up and picked a nice spot next some trees. Would recommend this ranch for a stay and would come back for sure. Recommend flashlights for night time because it gets very dark.

SPECTACULAR views of Zion

I went on a Utah road trip about a month ago and this was by far one of the most incredible places Ive ever camped in my life. You get to pick from a wide range of campsites, all with amazing views.

Amazing views, clean

We drove in very late and had no idea what was around us. It is quite a ways of the main road but wasn’t hard to find. Woke up to jaw dropping views and cows grazing next to us. I was pleasantly surprised that there was grass. Only negative was that the potty nearest to us was out of tp. I had brought some do not a huge deal.

Great campsite for exploring Zion NP

We spent four days here for spring break this year while exploring Zion NP. It’s basically just reserved, dispersed camping with outhouses. That said, you are much more spread out than the free dispersed camping around the park.

The good:

  • The views were amazing right at our campsite.
  • There was a fair amount of privacy with everyone spread out through the field.
  • Proximity to Zion (40 minutes to the park entrance or just up the road for some hiking)

The mixed:

  • There are outhouses but they can get fairly full before they get cleaned. They were full when we arrived but cleaned a couple days later.
  • The wind. You are on a plateau with little cover. The winds were coming from the south when we were there so you can try and find a spot with some protection.
  • The road is rough, both up to the campground and within it. Take it slow and you will be fine but it can be a bit intimidating. I would be concerned trying it when wet.

Jaw dropping

The wrights ranch was the most gorgeous campground I’ve experienced Personally. The road up to the ranch might be best handled during the day on first attempt.

Nice reservable dispersed camping

If you want to have a reserved spot then this is a great place. It does take 40min to get to Springdale and about 4-5 miles of that is on a packed dirt road which we had to go fairly slow on. We were in a 2WD VW Jetta sport wagon, we made it, just had to go slow. Sites have plenty of space between them so you’re not on top of other people. Amazing view of canyon and stars. Port-a-potty’s were fairly clean. Each site had a fire ring. We got caught in high winds one day/night that nearly blew our tent down and covered everything in a thick layer of dust so beware. The dirt roads in the campground kick up a ton of dust when people drive by. No water, no showers, no cell reception either and we have Verizon. A guy on a horse came around to check if you had a reservation or not. That was the only type of check-in or out process there was.

Heavenly

If you can’t camp in Zion don’t fret because this is the best option. This ranch is stunning with amazing elevated views. The host Bill was very kind, we were able to take a 2 hour horse back ride around the ranch which is a must! The ranch is huge and you can pick and chose which ever spot you like. It’s not a rough road to get to the ranch. Highly recommend!

Private owned primitive campsites

This off the beaten path campground near Zion National Park is a great place for those looking for a more relaxed time.

I found this on Hipcamp app and I am so glad I did, not a soul was around the 2 days we were there.

Head out of Virgin Ut. Up Kolob reservoir rd to Smith Mesa rd. Following it out of Zion Nat. Park onto the private road it gets a bit rougher and I higher clearance vehicle is recommended. Reaching the turn off to the campsites and turning right onto a two track road that leads to the sites. Now I must caution that if there has been or will be moisture this road is nearly impassable if not completely impassable.

Once at the sites follow the road back to were the host has set a couple porta-potties, which are a nice luxury when you are primitive camping.

There are like 50 places you can choose from dispersed throughout the site, there are numerous roads that have fire rings, some very near the Mesa's edge with views of the valley below. The views are spectacular in every direction.

Again I booked through Hipcamp but hopefully The Dyrt can also be used in the future.

I really loved this spot, and want to return to it soon, and the proximity to so many National parks is so perfect to see so much. Cell service is sketchy, but if you really want it try to camp more towards the rim, I was able to get 4 bars of 4g on T-Mo.

The altitude is 5,500 ft so early or late season may be cold, and I can't say it enough, stay away if moisture is expected.

There also is no trash receptacles so please be respectful and pack out what you pack in..

Happy camping
