Kolob Road BLM Dispersed

The sound of running water provides a constant backdrop at this free BLM dispersed camping area located just outside Virgin, Utah. Campers access the site via a steep downhill road that multiple reviewers warn against for RVs or trailers, making this spot best suited for tents, vans, and smaller vehicles that can handle the descent and limited turnaround space.

Six to seven camping spots spread across the area, with some positioned close enough to the creek to enjoy the ambient water sounds that Shavit L. notes "drown out the world." The terrain consists of mixed gravel and dirt ground dotted with existing fire rings from previous campers. Trees provide some separation between sites, though the vegetation consists mostly of bushes and cacti with scattered larger trees for occasional shade.

Cell service proves unreliable, with most campers reporting dead zones or intermittent single-bar coverage. The proximity to water brings gnats during warmer months, and road noise from the nearby highway carries to some sites. Located eight minutes from the Left Fork Subway trailhead, the area serves hikers planning early starts into Zion's backcountry.

This dispersed camping works well for self-sufficient campers comfortable with basic conditions who prioritize free access and creek-side atmosphere over amenities and reliable connectivity.

Kolob Road BLM Dispersed

Nothing special--just a good enough spot to camp outside Zion NP. About 7 spots available, no amenities. A couple spots are near running water, which is nice to listen to. Mostly bushes/cacti, but some trees here and there. Cell service is basically non-existent, but sometimes you might catch a bar.

Great Spot!

We stayed here for a night by Zion and loved it. It was just off the road, but not too much traffic noise. The little river by the site is very pretty. We only had 2 neighbors, but the spots are decently spaced apart so nobody was too close

Great subway launchpad

Just 8 mins from the Left Fork subway trail head makes this spot ideal for those looking for an easy early start. Nearby river gives you that ambient sound to drown out the world.

About 6 spots, well separated by trees and distance.

No foot spots for hammock is only down side.

Beautiful canyon sites

Road was easy to pull down and turn around in my Ford Transit. Nice views and access to creek. Quiet except a bit of road noise.

Small area dispersed blm

Small tight area to get into...strongly do NOT recommend TTs or any RV at this BLM spot due to steep downhill rd and no turnarounds! Tent or van nomads only due to no tt turnarounds!. Creek is close but the 3-4 sites are not on creek. However.. No Cell service as in a dead zone hole.

BLM

We stayed at the BLM outside of Zion National Park. It was absolutely STUNNING. There were signs that made finding this spot super simple. We stayed Saturday night of Labor Day weekend and found that we had MILES of BLM land to ourselves until well after dark. The ground was a mix of gravel/dirt and was totally find for sleeping on. Where we setup camp, there was someone's old campfire spot, which made things easier.
