Rock climbing draws most visitors to Lambs Knoll, where the BLM has developed a dedicated parking area and vault toilet on the boundary of Zion National Park. The Kolob Road leading in is paved, and the site sits within campgrounds near BLM Land — St. George Field Office territory in Virgin, Utah. Eight designated walk-in tent sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis at no cost. No fee. No reservation system.
The parking lot fills on most days. Local guide companies use this area regularly, so campers should expect foot traffic and vehicles throughout daylight hours. Signage prohibits RV and vehicle camping in the lot, though some visitors arrive in vans and trucks. The walk-in tent sites provide some separation from the parking area. Nearby options include Smith Mesa Road to the south and Zion Wright Family Ranch a short distance to the southwest, both worth considering if Lambs Knoll is full.
Evenings tend to be quieter, though stargazing tour groups occasionally gather in the lot around 9 or 9:30 PM before heading out. "Views of the Zion features are amazing," notes Greg L., and the open sightlines toward Zion's sandstone formations are one of the site's most consistent draws. Amenities include a vault toilet, picnic tables, trash service, and campfire rings. Pets are permitted.
Arrive early on weekends and holiday weekends to secure one of the eight tent sites before the lot reaches capacity.
