BLM land managed by the Price Field Office, West Temple Road in Goblin Valley sits atop a small mesa reached by a one-lane dirt road that climbs steeply enough that at least one visitor kept their vehicle in first gear the entire way up. The road is not paved, and the approach matters here: rigs of any significant size will find the turnaround area at the top limited, with room for roughly two to four sites depending on vehicle dimensions. There is one fire pit at the summit. Free camping, with campfires and pets allowed.
The hilltop position gives campers open sightlines toward distant buttes and the San Rafael Swell, which Hannah M. sums up as "beautiful views of the swell." That exposure is a consistent theme across reviews. Wind is common. The highway is audible from camp. Sites are spread apart, which provides some separation despite the lack of natural screening from trees or terrain.
Cell coverage is limited. Verizon users have reported only one bar at the summit, though the elevated position does make this spot function reasonably well as a signal stop, as at least one reviewer noted. The site is quiet at night when traffic is light, but the highway noise is real during the day. Campers who want more developed infrastructure or greater site variety can browse campgrounds near Hanksville for additional options in the area. Those wanting nearby dispersed alternatives might consider Goblin Valley Rd BLM or South Temple Wash Campground, both within a mile to the northwest.
