11 sites with either shade or river views

There are 11 small sites. No cell coverage but a booster might work. # 11 is huge, very close to river. #1 no shade; #2 and #3 has very good shade. #4 and #5 good for van size units. 6, 8, 9, 10 can fit a van but are best for tents. 7 is the worst IMO.

Managed to snag a spot.

I am currently on a 48 state road trip and decided to stay in Moab for the night.

We got to Moab earlish. We were there by 11 AM. A lot of the campsites were already full. We started at the very first site and worked our way down.

We turned into Hal Canyon and I noticed the 1st site was empty so I grabbed it. I believe some of the other spots were open but I didn't want to take a chance. It is very close to the road but after about 8 PM I heard very little traffic noise. There is a spot further down in a wooded area but I didn't notice it until I had set my tent up.

I would definitely stay again if I could find a spot.

Camping off 128

Cool spot right next to the Colorado river and right off of route 128. Most of the campgrounds in this area are right off the road so there will be car noise and other people camping close by. Awesome views of the red rocks in the area. This campground is tucked behind some vegetation so you can’t see the road, like you can in other campgrounds on 128.

Empty and quiet

Only one other car there, granted it was pretty chilly for camping. Even had 1 bar of AT&T sometimes

Moab camp

Drove into Moab on 128 going south with the intent of finding a tent site at one of the road/riverside campgrounds. Really lucked out at Hal Canyon, grabbed a shady site around 11am as sites were turning over (fcfs). Close to the river, decent bathrooms, trash nearby, no potable water. Great view of the canyon and river, and a short drive into town.

Tucked away from road / crowds

Great spot tucked away from the road with lots of trees for shade! Not many campsites, so get there early! Not recommended for big rigs either.

Great for tent campers

Most of the campgrounds are small so you won't be camping beside a big rig.  Lots of trees for privacy, most campgrounds are beside the Colorado river (but no direct water access).  We arrived around noon, most of the sites were occupied but we found one that is checking out so we grabbed it.

The campground has a large table and a huge fire pit.  Most are within close walk to the outhouse.

Driving to Moab town center, as well as Arches National Park is about 15-20 mins.  Overall an incredible experience.

Great spot on th River

Sites 2 and 3 are great as they had a nice clump of scrub oak the pad and picnic table was in, plus a lower level, with nice acces to the river. We put in up river and pulled out at the camp site and biked back to the car. They each had a nice camp site. Two was more distance from parking.

. A few sites can handle a travel trailer... but a short one. There were a couple 30 foot trailers that pulled through which scrapped bottom, one broke it’s sewer lever.

Really few sites work for a trailer in this campground and 24 feet is pushing it if you hav a big vehicle as the parking sites are small. A small self contained is good at many, sites.

Btw, in covid times, ALL the campsites were full every day. We lucked into our spot, so many people were looking for sites all day. Look at the checkout dates on the slips and if there are no sites, find someone moving out the next day and work with them on taking over their site.

Beautiful!

Wonderful spot right by the Colorado River. Close to Moab town also. Really recommend renting a paddle board or raft to use on the river. Every spot has a picnic table and fire pit! And relative privacy to other spots

Amazing location and view

This campground was perfect for our mid-October camping. For it being a busy spot, we found a larger site mid day and was the perfect distance away from Moab/Arches/Canyonlands/Sand Flats Rec Area. Very quite at night and the sites were well maintained and clean.
