Overnight stay

Found this gem outside Capital Reef NP. It was absolutely stunning with great views all around. We only stayed one night as we passed through the area but could easily spend several. It was quite popular but sites are spread out so it didn’t feel crowded.

Great campground!!

We got to Overlook Point late in the day. Super easy to find, right off the main road to Capitol Reef NP. Got firewood from the gas station about 2 minutes away. Lots of spots to choose from with amazing views!! Plenty of room to spread out with trees for a little privacy. This campground can accommodate really big rigs. We found a site along a ridge with a stone fireplace. Dirt roads were easy to drive but were a little muddy after a snowy night. It was our first experience with dispersed camping and it was a great one.

Easy access

Many spots to select from. The road is a little rough in spots, so slow is good. Great views

No issues finding a spot for our 30ft 5th wheel. Very quiet and right off the highway. Plenty of spots mostly level. Can be very windy. Good t-mobile coverage

Private and quiet

Great spots with small trees gibing some privacy. Some spots are harder to get to than others so there is something for everyone.

Pack rats ate our engine wires

Convenient spot for stop over on your way further. Plenty of road to get beyond the crowded campers always near the entrance. Dry creeks below for exploration and depth of field of view. Was only here for an overnight and a rat crawled up into our warm engine bay and chewed through our fuel injector copper wires. Had to spend the whole afternoon in Bicknell at Park Auto supply fixing the damage.

Lots of spots by Capitol Reef

Lots of people here but just like anywhere if you have good clearance and 4x4 you can push far enough to find your own privacy. Nice view of sunset/sunrise and lots of established fire pits— but we did not burn due to wind, be cautious of your embers in this dry wind-swept dispersed area. Convenience is nice, but you can still hear the traffic and see some of the houses and city lights from a distance. Had to be somewhere around 50-100 spots.

Great pull off for the night.

Amazing vista point to look down into capitol reef national park or Torrey. Close to town with great cell signal. Close to National Park. Sadly lots of broken glass close to the entrance, so watch it when you drive in. Pack it in, pack it out people. The further you go in the better the sites get, some with decent wind protection.
