Both reservoirs are open only to non-motorized watercraft. Scuba divers frequent Tibble Fork's south shore. Hiking and mountain biking trails abound, some beginning at the reservoir and others nearby. The 6-mile Tibble Fork Trail, 2-mile Pine Hollow Trail, 3-mile Mill Canyon Trail and the 15-mile Ridge Trail are all in the vicinity.

The campground is situated among dense stands of aspen, Douglas fir, spruce and pine trees at an elevation of 6,400 feet. Rugged Wasatch peaks surround the area. Wildlife and summer wildflowers are abundant.

Timpanogos Cave National Monument is just a few miles down American Fork Canyon, with a rewarding but steep 1.5-mile hike to a guided tour of the spectacular three-room cave system. The trail offers beautiful views of American Fork Canyon. American Fork Creek can be accessed 3 miles south. A favorite among fly-fisherman, the creek has light pressure for stocked rainbow trout. The 20-mile paved Alpine Loop Scenic Byway passes just a few miles from the campground, traveling through alpine canyons, mountain meadows, aspen groves and pine forests, with breathtaking views of the Wasatch Range. This road is not recommended for vehicles over 30 feet in length. Timpanogos and Lone Peak Wilderness Areas are nearby, offering a myriad of additional hiking and biking opportunities.

Hiking and mountain biking trailheads can be found throughout the canyon. Hikers enjoy Red Pine Lake, White Pine Lake and Maybird Gulch, all beautiful hikes leading to alpine lakes. Mountain bikers enjoy the Cottonwood Creek Trail and Albion Meadows Trail. Little Cottonwood Creek offers good trout fishing and is a favorite among local fly-fishermen.
Natural Features
The campground is set among a forest of shady pine, aspen, oak and maple trees. Vivid summer wildflowers are abundant, and autumn leaves put on quite a show. Little Cottonwood Creek runs along the edge of the campground.

Rock climbing is a popular activity as well. Snowbird Resort is a few miles up-canyon, offering scenic tram rides, hiking, mountain biking, restaurants, groceries, an Alpine Slide, zip line rides, concerts and various festivals. Albion Basin, part of Alta Ski Resort just a few miles further up-canyon, hosts the Wasatch Wildflower Festival annually in late July/early August, complete with guided nature walks. Numerous hiking trails can be found in Albion Basin, including the 1.5-mile round-trip hike to Cecret Lake.

This park is developed around a large group of aged Willow trees and wide open grassy areas that afford a vast number of options when it comes to recreation and relaxation. Hiking is very popular in the area. The 15-mile round-trip Timpooneke Trail begins in the campground and climbs to the summit of rugged Mount Timpanogos. Aspen Grove Trail is nearby, leading to the summit as well. Horses are allowed on Timpooneke Trail. The rough dirt Timpooneke Road also begins at the campground, nearly circumnavigates Mount Timpanogos and offers excellent mountain biking and birding. The campground sits along the 20-mile paved Alpine Loop Scenic Byway. It passes through alpine canyons, mountain meadows, aspen groves and pine forests, offering breathtaking views of the Wasatch Range.

Bridger Bay - Antelope Island State Park
Great way to the the Great Salt Lake
Stayed at Bridger Bay Sept 18-19 in one of the sites nearest the water. Great timing as there were virtually no bugs and the water was warm enough to paddle board. Lots of Bison and a Great Horned Owl spend an hour in a tree by our Bean Trailer. Hiking the beach was otherworldly and we will definitely return.

Very popular campground. Sites nestled in the trees. Occasional road noise. It is shows as first come first served but somehow people can make reservations ahead of time. We looked for a sign which said OPEN and camped there. Hosts are great.

Beautiful views of the lake. Hook ups were really easy to use for the trailer. Bugs were minimal. Bathrooms were very clean. You’ll check in when you enter the park and if you don’t have a reservation, they’ll assign you a spot at the gate and have you pay there.

Beautiful, well maintained, one of our favs
We found a FF site right by the creek, close to the cold canyon waterfall trail head. The water levels were high so the creek was running pretty fast which made it loud but honestly it drowned out any noise from neighbors a it was perfect. Love the hikes, love the shade, just an awesome camp site.
Toilets flush! Just gotta bring a light
Close enough to drive to town for anything you might have forgotten.

Not very far from Brigham City at all. Easy to find and some roads are a little rough in the campgrounds. At least 30 established campsites with fire pits and lots of shade. A lot of hiking and star gazing available. No Services whatsoever except I have T-Mobile and I have great reception with the JeXstream mobile hotspot extender. No Creeks or water but a beautiful place if you bring everything you need. Didn't hear any shots but shooting is allowed, and you might encounter people on ATVs or staying up late partying but you live with what you can find!

We spent a night at campsite #4 and it was awesome. Lots of privacy and space and the stream is flowing heavily. Definitely a little bit of road noise but a nice getaway from SLC

Cottonwood - Willard Bay State Park
Convenient and easy overnight stop but expensive and buggy
We did not have reservations and with two long back to back travel days heading home, we needed an easy place to land close to the interstate. $60 for one night electric and water which we did not need for our teardrop, but all sites were the same price which included park fees.
Very nice staff and host found us a spot with which even had a limited view of the lake. Site was brand new with pull through that would easily accommodate a larger rig. Had a nice pavilion type cover over the picnic table, fire ring, and restrooms and showers were new in the section we were staying in.
As sun went down the mosquitos started to swarm and chased us inside. Haven't experienced that level of bugginess outside of several of the swamps we camped at in the southeast. Middle of the night a skunk visited our campsite and hung around for quite a while. Traffic noise from I-15 was excessive.
Don't let the pictures fool you. Views were ok in most directions but what I did not show was the large commercial storage yard used by the park service which was directly next door to our campsite. Fee's should have been much lower given the location but we did not have reservations and were fortunate to get a site.
If camping in a traditional RV this is an ok option, and it is cheaper than some of the commercial campgrounds nearby. Would stay here again if we needed an easy overnight stopover as the location is terrific.

The Bugs Are Back
Super nice campground in a fascinating area. We were in a pull through spot (BB42) and the hook ups (water/electric) were great.
Watching sunset on the lake and seeing bison lounging on the beach was magical. Plenty of pronghorns prancing around and we also grabbed soft serve from the nearby concession stand.
The sites are well spaced and have been staggered so that the site across from you does not block your view. Love the forethought.
Only downside was the bugs. The camp host did send out a notice about the bugs before our arrival, but we did not anticipate the literal swarms of no-see-em's and mosquitoes.
Can't blame nature for naturing though :)

We spent sometime here. It was a busy time especially with the eclipse. We had to leave the park and find another place. I loved the bison visits every morning by our site 40, 29, 40. I hated the bugs. They were horrible. We couldn’t even sit out at the table to have dinner. I know now not to come in October

Camp spots are snug but do the job. Love the shade and scenic views. Road noise is kinda drowned out by the river, but you can still hear it if you try. Wish there were showers. Great little secluded access points into the river. Awesome way to cool off. Would stay again!
Lots of cyclists in the area. There was a little accident while I was in the park side someone was hurt. Drive cautiously.

Great Views- Have to hike in!
You can’t drive to the coordinates, you have to park at the uppermost parking lot for Silver Flat and hike up to a camping spot. Camping anywhere along that road will give you gorgeous views, though! Saw lots of people camping super close to the lake and even along the shores, which is not allowed. You need to stay at least 1/2 mile away from the lake to camp. Maybe they open the road up at some point during the year, but as of July 2nd, it was gated off, so come prepared to backpack up to a spot

Spacious campsites, with asphalt pads, covered picnic table, fire pit. In the wide open with no trees. Was super windy during our stay and the wind howled. Site 55 was pull thru site with water and electricity. Dump station near by. Entry fee into the state park included with campground fee.

All sides of the island are so great to visit. Stayed here a couple of times, people complain about bugs, but I find them manageable. That being said. There are lots of flying lake bugs. Camp site was clean and pretty basic. Showers at bridger bay are clean and basic. Would stay again. Love seeing the Buffalo

Ok stopover. Bugs and road noise
We’ve stayed here three times and each about the same. Full hook ups were nice. Clean bathrooms with free showers were a plus. The only downside was road noise from the nearby freeway and lots of bugs, probably due to the lake. But for a travel through stopover it was fine.

I highly recommend this campground on Mt. Timpanogos and near the beautiful resort created by Robert Redford, Sundance. Camp hosts are friendly and most of the sites are roomy and well-spaced.

Solder's Pass Utah Backcountry
Good in a pinch, but shouldn't be your first option
It's not great. Next to a shooting range and orv trails, so you'll hear that. Shrubs and a few small trees dominate the landscape, so there isn't much privacy. Roads were bumpy, but manageable. Access depends on where you go, Several paths to take w other sites. Lots of trash. Rock fire pits. Amazing views of the mountains behind Provo and Utah Lake. Full cell service w At&t. Free!

Bridger Bay - Antelope Island State Park
Truthfully not worth it.
We Enjoy winter camping. Unfortunately this site just turns into paved dispersed. Amping in the winter months. No working power sites, toilets locked up, and still cost 30 bucks. Just find some of the endless BLM in the area.

Meadowlarks and bison
What a great find this was. Perfect break after a long day driving. I was able to go hiking in the morning and watch the sunrise and the herds of bison. Extremely clean campsite and restrooms

Campground near Provo
This campground is ok, would expect a little more since you have to pay $25. In a nice little suburban neighborhood. Spots are close together and not much privacy, our site was along the back fence. Each site had fire pit and picnic table. There are two bathrooms, no showers and no electricity. It looks like there are a couple water fill up spigots but not potable.

Cottonwood - Willard Bay State Park
State campground close to highway
Two loops that we saw, the first has no hook ups and the second has power and water at each site. There’s a little paved slab with a picnic table and covering, each site has a fire pit and charcoal grill. $30 for no hook ups $40 for hookups, got in around 8pm and no $30 sites left. There are toilets and showers for each loop. Really close to the highway so be prepared for that noise, and there’s a train that goes by every so often.

Good luck with the mosquitoes
When I go camping, I always expect a fair amount of bugs. What I experienced here was unlike anything I’ve encountered before. Anytime you’d step foot outside, you would be covered in a swarm of mosquitoes. Bug spray and bands provided minimal help, but nowhere near what they normally would have.
