Hole in the Rock Road Dispersed at Utah 24

Stayed a week. Everything was covered in dust due to high winds. Nice spot otherwise. Many big rig friendly spots. I was surprised at how well kept it was (little to no trash left by previous campers). Wish I saw more of that!

This place is great. There are a ton of spots to choose from. Most seem to have a fire pit. There are a few other campers out here but very spread out. You can park next to a Juniper tree.

We ended up turning around and coming back to this spot. We liked it. It was easy to manage for our large Rv and truck.

Amazing views of the cliffs from this area. All campsites have a fire pit and you do need a free permit to camp here. We acquired ours at Devil’s Garden just down the road. We brought our 26ft Class C motorhome with a Nissan Altima and while we did do some scouting of the road paths that we should take, we found an accessible route for our vehicles to get decently in the camping area to feel a bit more secluded and allow for our pups to have more freedom. There is free range cattle in this area, so just watch out for the cow pies when walking!

The road is quite horrendous, but the camping is great. Good cell service. Dumpsters near the entrance.

A beautiful camp to set up RVs, vans, and tents. Plenty of space. There were several others here and did not feel close to anyone. Fire pits are available, but they are just slightly dug holes with small rocks. Recommend reinforcing the rocks before use.

Camped here the first week of June and it was beautiful! It was very hot… but once the sun went down it was nice. The road wasn’t too bad, my hyundai tuscan did fine. There were several spots open, a few others taken. It was quiet and peaceful, lots of birds, lots of bugs. We had a great spot that had lots of rocks to climb for a nice view!

Decent dispersed camping with room for any sized camping rig.  Okay area for star gazing except toward Escalante to the northwest.

Plenty of spots. It's accessible by low clearance vehicle. Dumpster is the only amenity. A little hard to find private place to relieve yourself in the desert .. Hole in the rock road gives access to several slot canyons. We did Zebra Canyon.

Spent a night here, plenty of dispersed spots to allow for plenty of space between campers (at least in fall time), scatter trees around for some privacy as well. Convenient to escalante, would stay here again.

Awesome dispersed camping with stellar cell service, close enough to Escalante that you can drive in quickly for groceries or water. Just mind the cows!

Super convenient with easy access off Route 12. Lots of level, open spaces short distance from entrance. Great basic dispersed camping in a 34 ft Class A motorhome with towed vehicle. Had decent cell service with AT&T. There are, of course no amenities or even pit toilets, although there are two dumpsters for trash and the town of Escalante is nearby with groceries and other necessities. Would absolutely stay here again. Also- if you have a smaller vehicle that you can take down the main dirt road (washboarded, but otherwise not bad) you can get to several good hikes. We really enjoyed the Zebra slot canyon (gets VERY narrow) and also the tunnel. Amazing lighting near midday as the sun is directly overhead. Both are moderately strenuous hikes. Bring plenty of water.

So this is the dispersed camping area in a beautiful location. It is only about a quarter of a mile off Utah 24 on hole in the rock road. There's no water there no pit toilets there are no fire rings there are no picnic tables. But it's free. And there's a cell phone signal.
