The map icon shows this as being near the Gran Quivara unit of Salinas Pueblo missions National Monument. It is not. As at least one other review indicates it is near White sands National Monument. I used the link from the campground description to try to get to this in about 2 and 1/2 mi short of it is a locked gate. Whoever dropped the pin and gave this location data gave a bogus location.
I originally posted this location but because I didn't have a cell phone connection I wasn't able to locate it very accurately. If you look at the north wash campground and review it is the same place. Thus I'm not going to post any additional information here.
For a pit toilet you need to drive a mile or two to the rest area going towards Hite Marina. They're also is no water at the campground. However the campground is right on the highway and there are several nice slot canyons close by. And I mean some are less than a mile.
This campground is at the trailhead for the lower calf Creek falls waterfall in South Central Utah. It's a beautiful location with the creek running through and a decent amount of vegetation providing privacy from other campers.
This campground is at the trailhead for the hike to lower calf Creek falls which is a beautiful little falls in central Utah. Or perhaps South Central Utah would be better. The campground is very nice that along the creek with a decent amount of vegetation providing privacy from other campers. There are pit toilets and water.
This is the only official campground off Burr Trail. It's set along a nice little creek with the decent amount of vegetation to give you privacy from other campers. There are pit toilets and the only water source I am aware of is the creek.
So first of all it was difficult for me to accurately locate this campsite on the map. This campsite is actually located in Glen Canyon National recreation area but it is the southernmost campsite that is permitted from the Maze district of Canyonlands National Park. I drove into it from the south side roughly from the location of Hite Marina. The road was not too bad and fairly easy to drive. There is no water there is no cell phone service there is no trash pickup and there are no pit toilets.
So this is the dispersed camping area in a beautiful location. It is only about a quarter of a mile off Utah 24 on hole in the rock road. There's no water there no pit toilets there are no fire rings there are no picnic tables. But it's free. And there's a cell phone signal.
It was difficult for me to accurately locate this campground on the map. But it is less than 2 miles from the little beaver campground I believe that's what it's called. At any rate there are nice picnic tables and nice benches at the picnic tables they even have benches around the fire pits. There is water and there are pit toilets
This is a very nice little campground high in the mountains. There are pit toilets and there is drinking water and there are nice tables. When I was there it was 25° cooler than down in Hanksville.
Access to this is a bit tricky as you need to take a gate from the interstate. It isn't your typical interstate exit. On the eastbound lane you've then got to drive under the interstate which there is a underpass there that they put a concrete ramp in the wash to make it possible to drive through. Most passenger cars can make this route. The campground itself is very basic there's no water there's no toilets. But it is less than a mile from the black dragon pictograph panel and that is the big plus for it. Note that driving in from the west is an extremely rough road that requires a four-wheel drive high ground clearance vehicle and some skill.
This is one of the two dispersed camping areas associated with the mountain bike trail that goes around the rim of the little Grand Canyon. There's a centralized pit toilet that you might have to drive a mile or two and there are a number of dispersed sites in addition to the official numbered sites.
This is one of the campsite that is primarily for the mountain bike route that goes along rim of the little Grand Canyon. There is a centralized pit toilet that you might have to drive one or two miles to get to. Most of the campsites are numbered unless you want to park and camp right at the pit toilet. There is no water but there is cell phone service.
The wedge is located on the rim what is known as the little Grand Canyon. This is aptly named. There are perhaps 100 campsites scattered out long about 3 miles of road. Many of these are on the rim of the canyon. My judgment the road can be driven carefully by any vehicle with good tires. The last part of it gets rougher than the first part. There is no water there is no garbage pickup but there is a pit toilet at the beginning of the road at the main overlook.
This campground is mostly for people who want to hike the little Grand Canyon or if the water is high enough float from fuller bottom to the San Rafael River bridge. They are absolutely no facilities here. It's just a place to park and sleep.
They're a variety of sites scattered along buckhorn draw going north from the San Rafael River bridge. These sites all have picnic tables and fire pits and they are free. There is no water either at the sites or at the swinging bridge campgrounds on the San Rafael River. There are pit toilets that's at the swinging bridge campgrounds, there's another pit toilet at the pictograph panel along buckhorn Draw, and there's another pit toilet at the northernmost end of buckhorn draw where there's a large dispersed camping area. This particular site that I'm at does have cell phone coverage.
I stayed there for a few weeks when the temperature is down in the valley started to get into the upper 90s and near 100. It was a good 10° cooler at this campsite than down in the valleys. You sit right below the continental divide with good access to the continental divide trail. The other big plus is that there is a cell phone tower right above the campground so you have excellent cell phone service. It's a nice clean little campground with a pit toilet and water available.
This is a very nice little campground that is free. There is a great hiking trail from the campground - listed in Lonely Planet Hiking the Rockies. Pit toilet and pump water. Sporadic cell phone connection.
The water was turned off when I was there, but there is a pit toilet and lots of Firewood. Close to highway.
There's a public access gold panning area near this campground. There's also a nice little lake here. There is a pit toilet a short distance from the campground. The only water source is the pond but it's easy to get to. There is no cell phone service.
