Private, quiet and great view

We liked this spot however we could not go in very far due to the fact that our trailer has low clearance. There are a lot of long ruts from water run off.

There are two dumpsters near the entrance. Area was clean and good cell service.

Location is ideal for area slot canyons etc.

Crowded

This area is right off the highway and had 25 or more campers there. Full size rigs, trailers, vans and tents. No thank you. Keep going, you'll find something.

Fantastic Spot

There are a lot of sites off of Hole-in-the-rock road. I drove for a min or so and found this site. Easily accessible for non-RV. Beautiful desert camping

Wide open areas

Great place to stay. Some sites close to others, some distant. Very large area - about 1/2 mile long. Could be windy, no shade. Good cell service. Dumpsters available. 10 minutes away from Escalante, but very dark at night. Could be hot in summer.

Hole in the rock

Great spot to camp at. The sites were spread out, and there were lots of sites to choose from. Had a pull behind camper. Night sky was AMAZING. Perfect spot for those who don't want neighbors. No water, toilets etc... good Verizon cell service. Would stay here again. Great central spot between all the stuff down in the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. Close to Bryce NP, southern part of Capital Reef NP.

Wide spread oasis

It’s hot down there and not really any shade. However, it was a good distance from everything. The town of Escalante was only a 12 minute drive. 10 minute down the dirt road is the Devil’s Garden. Kids had a great time here. There is a ton of places to set up camp and we were far enough away from any neighbors that we felt like we had the area to ourselves.

Most excellent place with great views if you camp close to the edge. We maneuvered a 32 ft RV through the trees right up to the edge which allotted us great valley views at all times.

Nice, mostly widely spaced sites, just a short distance off of Hwy 12 East

We have a 36’ Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow and parked and dropped just past the start of Hole in the Rock Road, then went to scout for a site that would accommodate us. We found a nice site on the ridge about 0.7 of a mile in or so and stayed for 4 days(early/mid June). We would have stayed longer, but the temperatures went into the mid/upper 90’s, so we left and headed further North to escape some of the heat. Some of the sites we passed on the way to ours are clustered a little more closely together, but would make nice group sites. There are more sites further in along Hole in the Rock Road, but the road can get pretty rough in places. There is quite a bit of traffic on Hole in the Rock Road and the vehicles and ATVs do kick up bit of dust. The further off of the road you can get the better, and with the winds predominantly out of the“West”, that side of the road is generally less dusty. Although it is usually windy in this area, so that alone can kick up a fair bit of dust too, and with the windows open, it tends to get everywhere. There are a number of trails/forest roads in the immediate area to hike and/or bike. Due to the decades long drought, there is usually a fire ban in the area. AT&T coverage was good, with 2-3 Bars of LTE service and speeds up to about 8 MB/s. There are no tall trees, so we were able to get DISH coverage on all three western satellites at our site. There were also 37 OTA channels to be had with our fixed omni antenna.

Fine Dirt in Every Crevice

I had to abandon my campsite because the dirt blowing around was so bad that I couldn't prevent it from getting in my tent. I would not recommend tent camping here.

This was a great place. Some had fire rings, some didn't, but not much else. Just how I like it. Not far from escalate if you need supplies.

Great camping spot

Right off the hole in the rock road with plety of campsites to choose from. Gets windy and cold at night so be prepared to getting sand everywhere. Great panoramic view. Great view of the sunset and sunrise. There are rock ring firepits. No toilets. Yes to cell service. Great quiet site. However when we were leaving Saturday morning, there was a large gathering of side by side ATVs.

Great camping spot for The Hole in the Rock road

As soon as you turn onto Hole in the rock road you make an almost immediate right and your there. This camping area is on a plateau and pretty vast. Lost of spots and side paths to find a great spot to set up camp. Awesome panoramic views all around. The winds can pick up on here so secure your tent good. I stayed two nights here while out exploring the canyons off hole in the rock road during the temps. Daytime temps were high but night temperatures were cool. Also had cell reception here. No facilities of any kind so. One prepared. No toilets of any kind.
