BLM Tibbetts Arch Road Dispersed Camping

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Free and ungated, Tibbetts Arch Road pulls campers off Highway 313 onto a narrow, sandy two-track with sections of rough slickrock. High-clearance vehicles handle it best. Trailers and RVs are not recommended, and BLM regulations require campers to carry and use a portable toilet when staying in this area, with camping permitted only beyond the half-mile mark from the highway.

Sites are spread across a wide, generally flat expanse of BLM land, giving groups room to spread out and find their own spot. "Private and generally flat," notes Julie K., who also observed that highway noise from Route 191 carries during the day but fades at night. Cows share the range, and ATVs and dirt bikes occasionally pass through. Cell signal is inconsistent, depending on line of sight to the north.

Cleanliness has been uneven across visits. Some campers report no issues, while others have encountered trash and human waste, a sign that not all visitors follow the portable toilet requirement. No other amenities are on-site. This is pure dispersed camping. Nearby options include Horsethief Campground to the southeast and BLM Dispersed near Canyonlands — Bartlett Flat Area just to the east for campers comparing spots in the campgrounds near BLM Land — Moab Field Office. This spot works best for self-sufficient overlanders comfortable with no facilities and variable road conditions.

Visitors often highlighted the private, flat camping sites accessible via challenging sandy roads requiring high clearance. Some feedback indicated noise from ATVs and highway traffic, plus concerns about waste management compliance.

Great for us.

Private and generally flat. We heard the traffic from 191 but it was pretty quiet at night. Others complained of trash and human waste but we didn't see any.  The area is big, many places to stop.

Noisy ATV traffic

We were plagued by noisy ATV and motor bike traffic.  Also human waste.

People don't seem to understand requirement to possess and use a portable toilet when camping on BLM land in this area.

We drove with our transit van

We love this place, you can’t hear anything and well it’s stretch roads but we did it in a 350 van wagon and not 4x4 in a rainy day. Just be careful

Siteno idea, where there was a fire pit

Overlander types only

This area is on a narrow entrenched sandy two track road and some sections are rough slick rock..so high clearance overlander type rigs are the best to access these sites. TTs and RVs are NOT recommended. Camping is allowed at 1/2 mile distance from Hwy 313 and Special Regulations include required portable toilets. Cell is iffy depending on straight line to north. No amenities, pure boondocking. Cows share the area.
