Cabin Hollow on Forest Road 121

Hikers, ATV riders, and cyclists heading into the canyon country around Red Rock Canyon have a convenient base at Cabin Hollow on Forest Road 121, a dispersed camping area within Dixie National Forest. Sites are spread along Hollow Road, giving campers room to spread out without close neighbors, though free-roaming cattle share the land and may wander through camp.

The terrain is worth knowing before you arrive. Most sites sit on uneven ground, and leveling a rig or tent can take some effort. One reviewer had to use rocks to level a rooftop tent setup. That said, vehicle access is manageable. Skylar K. notes it was "easy to get to, drove with my Subaru Forester Wilderness," though a bit of ground clearance helps for certain sites. Cell service is available here, which not all dispersed camping near Dixie National Forest can offer.

The surrounding area gives campers access to Bryce Canyon National Park and Red Rock Canyon for day trips. Nearby dispersed options include Cabin Hollow FS #121 Dispersed Camping just to the south and BLM 121 to the northwest. Stays are permitted up to 16 days. Summer fills quickly, so arriving early in the week improves your chances of securing a workable site.

Guests frequently mentioned stunning red rock views and easy access, though finding level campsites proved challenging for many. Several reviews noted the area fills quickly in summer but offers excellent proximity to hiking and Bryce National Park.

Pretty view

Easy to get to, drove with my Subaru forester wilderness. I have cell reception up here so that’s a bonus too. I would recommend a vehicle with a tiny bit of ground clearance for some of the campsites- but honestly you could possibly get by without depending on the site.. the spots are nice and dispersed and no neighbors other than the cows that live on the land. My dog enjoyed running around and climbing the surrounding rocks too.

Not a bad campground

Not a bad camp spot but it was hard to find a level spot. We were staying in our rooftop tent and had to find rocks to level out

Hollow Road near Red Rock Canyon

The spots are on the Hollow Road close to the Red Rock Canyon in the Dixie National Forest. Road and site are easy to access but the most sites are uneven. The view of the red rocks is amazing. In the summer it fills up very quickly. You can stay 16 days. It's a good place to hike, bycicle use your atv and visit Red Rock Canyon or Bryce National Park. You'll find plenty to do there.
