    Overview

Liberty Hill Park is located on the southern shore of Navarro Mills Lake in central Texas. Visitors can enjoy a view of the lake from the facility and participate in popular outdoor actives like camping, boating, fishing and picnicking. The lake area provides the perfect setting to get away from it all, especially for city-dwellers from the nearby Dallas-Fort Worth metro area.

    Recreation

Birdwatching is a favorite year-round pastime for lake guests. Many species of songbirds, hawks, great blue herons, ducks, geese, other shorebirds and even an occasional bald eagle visit the area. Fishing is also popular at Navarro Mills, and the lake holds the current state record for white crappie. Fishermen come from near and far to sample some of the best crappie fishing anywhere. 2 multi-lane boat ramps, a fishing pier, and marina are available within Liberty Hill Park. There are also healthy populations of channel and yellow catfish, and hefty hybrid stripers are often caught below the dam when water is being released. Swimming is available at the designated swim beach from April 1- September 30 for day users and year round for registered campers. No lifeguard on duty and swimming is at your own risk. Life Jackets are available to borrow from the gatehouse.

    Natural Features

Liberty Hill is also a favorite viewing area for wildflowers. The brilliant array of native flowers draws visitors from all over to the lake area during the spring. Bluebonnets, paintbrushes and a myriad of other native plants transform the often-bleak winter landscape into an incredible palette of colors. A wide variety of habitat provides a home and abundant food supply to diverse wildlife. Visitors might stumble across squirrels, rabbits, coyotes, foxes, bobcats, white-tailed deer, raccoon or armadillo.

I totally understand why you feel so comfortable there. Speaking of relaxing, if you're looking to pass the time while you're enjoying the serene vibes, I highly recommend checking out the Traffic Rider app. It's a fun and immersive way to experience motorbike riding through beautiful landscapes, just like the ones around the park! We screwed up and booked a different spot and our camper was too long. Oakdale was able to accommodate us on short notice. The staff was friendly and informative. Our kids had a great time in the expansive pool and enjoyed the snow cone stand across the street. The adult enjoyed the well-stocked pool bar!

Pretty sunset right on the water

We got a primitive campsite right on the water and we’re able to fish a little bit once we arrived. We got there after 5 but there is a kiosk where you can check in and grab a map to find your site easily. The park is pretty big and there was a nice fire pit and picnic table we could use. It was still really hot during the time of year we went, but other than that it was nice.

    Nice State Park

Nice state Park. We stayed here 3 nights. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Although the park has been around awhile it is maintained well. Our site had plenty of room to the next site, had a covered picnic table, fire ring, and lantern hanger. Water pressure was 50 psi, sewer hookup was close, but electrical box was in the front and most modern RV's electrical connection in the back (30 foot cable just reached). The park is close (2.5 miles) to Cedar Hill where you can find shopping, dining, fuel, etc. Would stay here again.

    Very Nice Small State Park

There may not be a lot of trails, but they are very nice.  The sites are oddly level, even though they do not look like they would be.

Site 01 is a great spot, that feels about the most secluded.

Watch out for all the spider webs on the trails,  if you hike early in the morning...  We camped at Meridian State Park in a 28 foot Travel Trailer.

    Amazing!!

This place was just downright amazing. It was our first RV trip and James was so helpful!! The roads were extra wide and every site was pull through! They have thought of everything here. The cabins and treehouses are just adorable and shine on the lake at night. I felt extremely safe as a solo female traveler with a kiddo in tow. Not a speck of trash in sight! I think we have been spoiled for every other campsite now!! I HIGHLY recommend this place. The bathrooms and showers were cleaner than my own at home!!

    Shady Business Practices

Place is not consumer friendly and service staff is rude. Throughout the online reservation process nothing is disclosed regarding the terms and conditions. After they take and accept your money, they email you a link to the terms and conditions which MUST you must click ACCEPT in order to stay. Immediately tried to cancel as I didn't agree with some of the terms and they take a$50 cancelation fee. I call not disclosing this information prior to accepting payment, forcing acceptance after the fact and then refusing to return payment a shady practice. An upfront honest business would disclose this and provide a checkbox for you to agree to these terms before they collect your money. They basically twist your arm into signing to the terms and conditions if they already have your money, but refuse your stay and refused to refund in full if you won't sign.

    Quiet campground

The campground is out a little ways away from the city, but close enough that you can make a day trip to Waco or Fort Worth. The road in and around campsites is in various states of disrepair. Lots of potholes and pavement breaks make it rough hauling an expensive rig in and out of the park. They were patching some of the potholes while we were there.

Otherwise, it’s quiet with a pool, mini golf, playground, etc. It’s not fancy by any means, and not well kept up, but if you are interested in a quiet spot in the woods with plenty of hiking trails, then this is a great spot.

    Nice Park But Needs Work

I stayed at Abilene State Park the night before and loved it so I chose another Texas state park. I had some issues with getting settled. I was first put in a loop and site that was next to a freeway and it was just too loud. I was switched to another site that was too small for my 25’ rig. The third time was a charm. The staff was apologetic and helpful. One of the loops I tried had a bathroom closed down for renovation so I am not sure why they were putting people there. A lot of the infrastructure I saw was a bit dated. Overall a good park but not as nice as Abilene.  It needs some TLC.
