Best Cabin Camping near Hillsboro, TX

Great for the family! Has 80 ft pull through with full hookup. Five cabins. Two swimming pools and hot tub. River and state park access. Nice store and friendly staff. Bathhouse, dog park, playground. Weekend activities like movie night, s’mores, hay rides, and petting zoo. Very clean.

Perfect little park close to the state park. Perfectly level spots. 30/50 amp full hook ups. A little store for any necessities. Pool/hot tub. Plenty of space for kids and dogs.

Sites are level, clean and have full hookups. Staff is very friendly, there is a pool, hot tub, small bike park, dog park and weekend activities. right next to Dinosaur Valley State park and dinosaur world and short drive from Fossil Rim. This is our second stay and will definitely be back.

This campground is very family oriented, playgrounds, a "real" fort, teepee, basketball court, hiking trails, and a huge family pool. There's also a grown up only pool with a hot tub! Laundry room was very clean, as were the showers. We were in site 414 which was mostly level pea gravel. Picnic table and fire ring were on this full hookup site.

Every site is pull through with full hookups and has a fire ring & picnic table! Staff was very friendly and store had all the essentials. Clean restroom and shower (1 stall), pet friendly and beautiful pool/ hot tub. Right across the street from Dinosaur World (which our 2 year old loved) and outside the gates of Dinosaur Valley State Park. Will definitely be back.

My husband and I stayed at Dinosaur Valley RV Park (DVRVP) on two separate occasions in last four weeks. We stayed 1 night during our first time at DVRVP and 2 nights during our second stay.

Here are our pros: 1.) DVRVP shares a property line with DVSP. Guests are able to purchase a day pass online through the DVSP website and access DVSP without ever having to drive through the front entrance. It was a simple 1 minute walk to access the park through DVRVP.

2.) You do not have to enter DVSP to enjoy the Paluxy River. Guests of DVRVP can access the river by following a small trail at one corner of the park by the entrance of DVSP. Our family spent a whole day in the river a minute walk from our camper.

3.) Dinosaur World is across the street.

4.) DVRVP is a family owned and operated business. The service was friendly! We wanted to add a. Additional day. We called and left a message. Moments later we received a return phone call. We were placed on a wait list. A few hours later we received another phone call let us know they were able to add an additional day to our visit.

5.) The sites are pull in and leveled for the most part. Both sites we stayed at were clean, free of trash and pet waste. The fire pits had been cleaned out. Connections are conveniently placed on driver side and we’re cleaned.

6.) DVRVP staff hosts several family friendly activities for guests throughout the day, everyday.

7.) DVRVP has a playground, swimming pool, hot tub, fire pit and plenty of green space for kids to roam and explore.

8.) Pet Friendly!

9.) No RV age restrictions! We saw old to new class A’s to C’s and towable’s.

Here are our cons:

1.) 2 pet limit per site. We would love to bring all three of our dogs. One is tiny and is an incident dog.

All sites have concrete pads, picnic tables, grill, fire ring, electric and water. Also can camp in tents or rent a cabin.

There wasn’t much to do but it was still fun, there is a bait shop and fishing dock area, the roads are gravel. There are cabins and places for your Rn/camper. And a boat “shop”.

This campground is right across the street from Big Rock Park and a close drive to Dinosaur State Park. This a a large RV Park with campsites and cabins. There’s a huge pool with lifeguards and a big playground with updated equipment. My boys loved this place!! The restrooms/showers were spotless!!

This is a great park for family fun, and would be awesome for family reunions or youth groups! They have literally everything you can think of for summer fun! Fishing, swimming, hiking, kayaking, bird watching! We stayed on the East side so we would be close to bathrooms and drinking water. Be aware if you stay on the West side the bathrooms and water are about a mile away. There are also RV sites, cabins, screened shelters and group sites. All sites have lake access nearby.

So the park is basically a huge lake with pretty clean water for a lake. There are a wide variety of hiking trails surrounding the lake.Each trail is very much its own with different scenery, rock formations, and trees. I think the longest trail is about 2 miles, so nothing to extreme. Perfect for families and kids. It is also very dog friendly which I love!!!

This park is also only 45 miles from Glen Rose! It would be a great place to stay at and take a day to go to Dinosaur Valley State Park. Meridian is a small town but it does have all the amenities you may need about 5 miles down the road. There is a grocery store, a gas station, and some restaurants if you want a warm home style meal.

The facilities are old but well maintained, and thankfully there are showers which will be needed after swimming. Don't let the size of this park get you down, it has so much to offer for a getaway from city life. IT is the perfect place to relax, take a dip, and read a good book!

This is a new campground and very nice. All sites are pull thru (approx 80’) with a lot of space between spaces. Grass is about 80% in for the pups. They have cabins, kids pool, adult only pool, large play ground and a club house. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable of the area. Easy access to the river right in the park. Only negative I have is the dog walking area lacks grass and has stickers. We will be back.

I have enjoyed this camp ground for many years. They have a lot of things to do during the summer. Live music,playground, swimming at the pool, and shopping down town. The cabins are great as well brought the Girls Scouts a couple of years ago. Just brought a our Boy Scout troop last week and here this weekend with the Hubby. Even though the river this year was on the dry side. We still had plenty to do. Don’t let me forget Big Rock Park is awesome too!

This place was just downright amazing. It was our first RV trip and James was so helpful!! The roads were extra wide and every site was pull through! They have thought of everything here. The cabins and treehouses are just adorable and shine on the lake at night. I felt extremely safe as a solo female traveler with a kiddo in tow. Not a speck of trash in sight! I think we have been spoiled for every other campsite now!! I HIGHLY recommend this place. The bathrooms and showers were cleaner than my own at home!!

We stopped by for the night after visiting the state park to meet up with some friends and I'm so glad we took the detour! The site was a little tight. We had one close to the cabins that you can rent and there was just enough room for all our vehicles and tents but not much more. There was the usual picnic table and fire pit. There was a communal spigot for water which is fine. Its more often a luxury for each site to have their own so I wasn't expecting that in this tent spot. but the campground was a different world. Yogi bear's world really.. My friends kids had a blast. There were scheduled activities all day long and the guys were able to go fishing in the nearby lake. We all had a blast. I would go back in a heart beat.

UPDATE: we left a night earlier. There was no point in staying since we didn’t want to be outside. We will be reaching out to KOA to see if/what they can do about the experience.

This place is nice and up to the “standards” of KOA. I know KOAs are more expensive but this one felt too pricey. Our site was very well shaded but there was a lot of trash. Picnic tables are usually messy but the one we had was gross, not worth cleaning or using. Depending on the direction you’re coming there is an ugly Uturn to get to the entrance. The deluxe sites look super nice as do the cabins. I wouldn’t return but it’s a nice place and would recommend if you’re looking for a an RV park. This is the 2nd KOA, and the staff were nice but the “community feel” isn’t there, not like other places.

Lots of activities, good clean sites and golf cart rental!

Beautiful, well maintained area.  Beach, campgrounds, boat ramp, trails, paddling, fishing (with TX license), watercraft rentals and playground. Camping $25-40.

Lots of activities to keep the kids entertained! Kids and adults both enjoy candy bar bingo and dancing the night away to tunes by an energetic DJ! We had a blast! Very nice spaces and golf cart rentals!
