      Food Truck and Park host!

The food truck food is not good. I got sick from eating food from there. Ted stores food in freezer without covering it up with lids. One of the park host was showing pictures. I saw the pictures and he also showed other park host. He is not a good park host. Do not ever let him borrow any money because you will never see it back. Do not put a bad review on Facebook because you will get blocked off there page. It's sad that's how they run a business.

      Family trip

First & foremost, This park is not well-maintained, and the camping sites are right off of the highway. The splash pad does not work, and the bath house was terribly dirty and freaked of sewage. The group sites are basically a big parking lot- zero grass space between site numbers, although there is shared grass areas along the rows. We moved site numbers within the group sites so that our kids would not be playing right beside the highway (there is a gate, however it’s still concerning), and to slightly distance ourselves from the traffic noise. Beware there is also a large wedding venue directly across the highway & our kids were woken to the sounds of fireworks at night on the weekend. There were large fire ant mounds all along the concrete, and we had to purchase fire ant killer ourselves, as well as deal with some broken glass & the trash can for our site that wasn’t emptied before our stay. I spoke with the staff member working in the office and all she could say was “i will let management know.”

As far as the good: we had 6 kids and 4 adults staying, so despite the concerns and annoyances, we still were able to relax enough and enjoy our break from the daily grind. The kids played outside all day- making walking sticks, fishing a lot, catching bugs (spotted some really neat moths, too), and making up games.

The best: the nearly-daily trains coming right through the campground for various reasons (loading new cars or taking passengers on a local trip). My son is an avid train-lover and this was the main reason we booked our stay here.

      Tyler State Park Campground

Quiet, lovely campground. Excellent park staff.

We drove from NWArkansas the end of January to purchase a conversion van in Tyler, but towed our 19-foot Coleman camper just in case the van didn't work out, at least we'd have a nice camping trip! We stayed in a pull-though space (#340) which was large enough for our Tundra, the Coleman, AND our newly acquired 2000 E-350 Sportsmobile Van.

The campsites were quiet (except for our dogs, who loved the racoons and deer...sorry!!) and well maintained. Beautiful walk around the lake to watch the sunrise. The facilities are standard state park facilities...everything worked. One toilet was a mess, but that wasn't the rangers' fault. One would think women would be more mindful of the mess they make.

Note that the gift shop isn't open on Tuesday/Wednesdays, so if you want a head badge for your walking stick, you can purchase one at the ranger station CASH ONLY.  Highly recommend this park.

      AWFUL

Stayed here 5 nights waiting for our property to be ready. Called into the office like we have every morning and was told"sorry you have to leave we reserved your spot." ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!!!! Who does this??? No notice, didn't say anything all week. But sure took our money! Poop all over the grass. The dog park is nasty! They give you all the rules, very strick. LOUD, the highway is right here. Unprofessional!!!!! Never again!!!!!

      Horrible

We had no choice but to stay for 2 months due to unfortunate events, but this place will make sure that you are treated like you are below them. We were always told to follow the rules, but the rules seemed to only being getting longer and stricter everyday, but the weekenders and the live in free workers didn't have to follow, we paid resort prices for no resort accommodations, what was "included" in the price wasn't included for us because we paid monthly not daily, (it's cheaper and it was literally 700$ a month so not much cheaper) the camp site for us was ran down and had prior campers trash left over that we had to take care of because it was "your responsibility" as the nice lady stated in the store front of the campground....I don't have kids in diapers, and I had to clean up over a dozen of poop filled diapers from our campsite, my youngest is 9...but as the leady said it was my responsibility to clean my campsite up upon arrival...then they tried to fine me for it...and the broken picnic table, that's bit the worse part, the worse part was the live in workers freely went threw our outdoor stuff (we have portable garden beds with veggie and fruits) by the time they freely helped themselves without my permission I had to restart my garden...I'm poor and lost everything so I'm literally starting all over again...I took out a large loan to get a type of hike for my son and I just to be treated like dog poop on the bottom of ya boot....when I brought it uo to them and started to complain about the chaos and rudeness I was told to "ignore it won't happen again" until it did...this time a weekender thought it would be adorable to throw rocks at my kid and dog...I will never go back.

      I appreciate this location.

Made my reservation on line just a few spots were available. Spot 04 with a water view space is slanted. They had the parking pass ready to pick up so it was not necessary to speak with anyone. The view, electricity, water, and showers was very nice at such an affordable price. Take your cleaning supplies into the bathroom as a precaution, I did not see trash can in the bathrooms. Leave No Trace is not really practiced by other campers so feel free to pick up after someone else this space is beautiful and deserves respect. I enjoyed the rain and the view it was very relaxing and I appreciated a shower as well as powering all my extras before heading on the road to Minnesota. $14 for the space very appreciate.

      Great woodland getaway

Great spot in the Piney woods of East Texas. Minutes from Tyler State park. Perfect spot for large families or groups. Amenities are not fully finished till summer, but there will be a great number of improvements such as water park, warming tub and restaurant.

Full hookups in the pine trees

Took a chance on this campground because many reviews on various websites  were bad and many were old...Used to be a TX state park but was "decommissioned" evidently. It is not the most maintained campground, but it is a small loop with pull-in sites w/ full hookups. The bathroom didnt seem maintained much, but we have a camper, so don't have need for the bathrooms. The texas state RR train engine car came through one time in the afternoon to turn around to pull the train back to palestine...that's pretty unique and a cool thing at a campsite IMO.

our group loved this place--albeit a very different experience if you are used to well-maintained KOAs etc, but for those that are self contained and just want to hang out/camp, it's a cool place. Had a nice walk around the historic train depot and the little pond behind it. we camped in october and It was very "fall vibes" with all the super tall pine trees and we thought it was a hidden gem and appropriately priced for what you get (ie: it's not priced like a KOA, so don't expect similar amenities--but there are good things about that too--it's not packed with people!!). Not sure I'd make a super long destination out of it if you're  too far away, but We will be back since it's close to camp here!

      Lake Holbrook Park - South

      Great Quiet Stop

The road in isn’t bad but it’s pretty dippy in some spots so if you have a large vehicle take it slow.

The directions take you to the Beach. Do not make the left turn. Camp spots are forward and to the right upon entry.

The spots are nice and spaced.

Only one other camper here when we arrived. They had tents. The spots are large enough to drive right into and it’s not to bumpy.

No bathrooms and the trash cans are all upside down and screwed to polls. So there is trash EVERYWHERE! In the lake, on the shore, on the roadways.

Other than the trash this place is absolutely breathtaking. We were on our way through so we only stayed for about 6 hours.

I imagine it’s the hot spot during the summer.

I would most definitely come back.

      Great spot for the kiddos!

Super nice staff and full saturday breakfast (eggs/bacon/pancakes/coffee etc--extra fee, but very reasonable!)

Pool, jump pad, playground, trike rentals, Rock/gem mining slough, movies/events, etc.

Sites are level pull-through sites and most have a clear view of the playground, which gives the kids a sense of freedom.  They have cabins and cool teepees as well, but have only ever camped in RV here.

Have been camping here in the summers and both Easter & Halloween weekends and they do easter egg/candy hunts and have other events for the kids/kids at heart.

We love coming here and the staff are always very kind to us. (photos on this review are during the halloween event--we decorated our campsite lol)

      Fun Labor Day getaway!

To celebrate September birthdays, we took advantage of the king holiday weekend to visit Jellystone. We’ve been here a couple of times before, but in the winter months. It was great to take advantage of the water amenities available! My kids loved the splash pad/water slides (I did too!). The bouncy pillow is always a fan favorite, and we spent just as much time there as we did in the water. Great evening movies, lots of fun activities, and close to Tyler if you decide to venture out and get some good food, or find something to do!

Our site was very shady, and our ac had no issue keeping up with the temps. Our particular site was a pie shape. We had visitors Saturday, and there were some parking blues because of how narrow the site was. We only chose this site because it was all that was available when booking. We prefer to be closer to all the fun! But overall we were happy with the location.

      Quiet, Beautiful & Peaceful

I've camper at Tyler State Park many times in my life. This is the first time in an RV. Rangers were nice & helpful. The facility is well organized & well maintained. They are constructing a a new headquarters in the pines near Cedar Point but the crews were considerate and no bother to us. No noise problems or traffic issues. The camping is limited in the Tyler area but this place is a jewel. Nice lake for fishing but few campsites near the water. Bathrooms were close & clean. Our campsite shaded our RV. No solar but there is an open area for starlink. No cell service from Verizon.

      Nice area, lots of raccoons

Not a fan of the site just due to the raccoons. Did a shakedown run of a new RTT after having appointments in the general area - the location is nice, but lots of road noise from the freeway. The worst part was a family of raccoons kept coming up for food all night. It was hard to sleep with them in the (empty) bed of the truck all night playing around.
