Best Campgrounds near Brazoria, TX

Camping areas around Brazoria, Texas include both coastal and inland options within the Gulf Coast region. Brazoria Lakes RV Resort and Brazos Bend State Park Campground offer developed facilities with varying levels of amenities, while dispersed camping can be found at Follett's Island Beach and Brazoria Beach along the coastline. The area supports multiple accommodation types including tent camping, RV sites with hookups, and cabin rentals. Most established campgrounds provide water and electric hookups, with several offering full RV connections including sewer hookups and 50-amp service.

The Gulf Coast climate significantly impacts camping conditions, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. A visitor commented that "summer is probably not the best time to visit any park in Texas - its hot and muggy and the mosquitos are out in full force. Bring your DEET." Seasonal considerations include hurricane season (June through November), when coastal camping areas may experience closures or evacuation orders. Many campgrounds remain open year-round, though reservations are strongly recommended during spring break and summer months when beach areas become crowded. Cell service can be spotty in some coastal areas, particularly at dispersed beach camping locations where amenities are minimal or non-existent.

Waterfront camping represents a major draw in the Brazoria area, with both bay and Gulf of Mexico access points. Campers report high satisfaction with Brazos Bend State Park's wildlife viewing opportunities, particularly alligator sightings along hiking trails. As one reviewer noted, "We saw around 15 alligators while hiking, and these are animals in the wild in their habitat." Beach camping at Follett's Island offers free dispersed camping with direct beach access, though without amenities. Mixed-use campgrounds like Quintana Beach County Park provide developed facilities near the water. RV parks in the region typically feature concrete pads and level sites, with many offering additional amenities such as pools, laundry facilities, and recreation areas. Most developed campgrounds require advance reservations, especially during weekends and holiday periods.

    Stella Mare RV Resort

    Three Day Stay in Galveston

Very nice RV park. Friendly staff, very clean and well kept. Nice, clean bathrooms, showers and laundry (husband said the men’s facilities were not so nice). Beautiful pool area. Although it was short, we enjoyed our time there and would recommend it.

    Eric & Jay’s RV Resort

    Stay away from here

With nearly 20 years in asset management overseeing multi-million-dollar properties, I can confidently say this situation reflects a serious operational failure. The park manager, Tina, removed us from the system and reassigned our PAID and ACTIVE RV site while we were temporarily away at the Houston Rodeo trail ride. Her explanation? An email was allegedly sent, and because there was no reply, she assumed we had moved out. Silence is not confirmation. In professional property management, an unanswered email does not justify removing paying guests from occupancy records. You verify departure. You call. You document confirmation. You do not displace active guests based on assumption. We check our email regularly. There was no email. Even if there had been, failure to respond does not authorize forfeiture of a paid site. We returned to find ourselves displaced. The most concerning part was the lack of accountability. Instead of acknowledging a management error, the justification was treated as sufficient. When occupancy control is this loose, it raises serious concerns about operational standards and guest security. We will not return.

    Beach camping

    Clean and well maintained beach.

Great beach camping. From the east edge of Surfside Beach city limits up the coast about 6-7 miles is all open beach with Great hard pack for driving any vehicle on. Free. 14 day limit. Trash cans at each beach entrance. Please help keep the beach clean and free. Parks & Rec teams do a fantastic job of keeping the beach clean and maintained. They drove by several times each day. I was here for 2 weeks in February. Good verizon signal. No skeeters until the last few days when it got into the upper 70s and was very humid.

    Galveston Island State Park Campground

Very large RV Pads, short walk to sunrise!

The pad had 50 Amp and Water, there is a dump station as you come in or leave. The pictures on their website don’t show how large and nicely paved the area is. The table is under a large covering and you have plenty of space to enjoy the ocean breeze!
The beach is very nice and quiet (in February) and we enjoyed wonderful sunrises and walking/beach combing. There were a few mosquitos at dusk…but the seems to disappear. The walkway to beach is very smooth and accessible. There are other RV parks in the area that you have to cross the road to get to the beach, we appreciated that it was on the beach! Bath houses were nice. Seemed pretty well kept and recently built. (A couple years maybe?)

    Follett’s Island Beach

    Very peaceful, primitive camping!

We stayed for 6 nights. Don’t be intimidated by staying on the beach! As others have suggested, the sand is packed more like dirt on this beach, which made it very comfortable to drive in. Our truck and trailer were safe throughout the week. We lucked out with good weather.

Things to note: there are trash cans right near the entrance of the beach only. No water near the beach, but if you drive to San Luis Pass County Park, ask the parks staff you’re staying on the beach and hopefully they’ll let you fill up (they let us!). Otherwise, gas stations nearby are good options. This was something that may be obvious to many, but we were very surprised by the moisture on this beach. Everything was totally soaked by dusk each day, and remained wet through night due to dew/ humidity. Recommend a car/rig self-wash right as you leave at TJ’s in Clute/Freeport. As others have noted, just watch the tide predictions, and you should be good. The tide never reached us, not even close.

During the weekdays, we were sometimes the only folks we could see anywhere on the beach, which was cool. It felt nice when other campers showed up at night, tho. They mostly kept a nice distance, so it felt nice and private. It was very often patrolled by parks staff. Highly recommend if you have off-grid power capabilities and don’t mind the humidity. Enjoy!

    Camp Nadur

Quiet Gulf Coast RV Escape with Strong Hookups and Wildlife Access

Camp Nadur is a peaceful RV-focused campground near Freeport, TX, offering a simple but well-equipped base for exploring the Texas Gulf Coast. If you’re looking for a low-key stay close to beaches, fishing spots, and wildlife refuges without the crowds of larger coastal parks, this is a solid choice.

The campground features flat terrain with grassy areas and scattered trees, making setup easy for most RVs. The drive-in access and ability to park directly next to your site is convenient, especially for longer rigs. Sites include 30 and 50 amp electric hookups, water hookups, drinking water access, picnic tables, and fire access. ADA access is also a plus for those needing more accessible infrastructure.

Cell service is a standout feature here. T-Mobile and AT&T 5G coverage are excellent, and Verizon LTE is usable, though slightly weaker. For remote workers or campers who want reliable connectivity for navigation, streaming, or staying in touch, that’s a major advantage.

Location-wise, Camp Nadur shines. It’s just minutes from the Gulf of Mexico beaches and close to Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge. Birdwatchers, anglers, and nature photographers will appreciate the proximity to coastal wetlands and migratory bird habitats. You get both beach access and marshland ecosystems in one trip.

That said, this is primarily an RV park tent campers may find options limited. Also, because it’s near the coast, wind and humidity can be factors, especially in peak summer.

    Camp Nadur

    Perfect and Quiet

We are so appreciative of this quiet, scenic stay. We saw dolphin the first day while setting up and enjoyed daily walks on the beach, egret, pelicans, seagulls, heron and enjoyed watching the activity on the Intercoastal Waterway. Parking was pretty level, we were able to get set up easily. Water and electric just as described and worked great. Loved the table and sunshade.
We could enjoy Sunrise over the water from our back window while sipping coffee, front row seat. I mean, this was perfect!
And the bridge! What an engineering marvel. I can’t imagine how this has changed the island and how the 8 miles of granite seawall has saved the area. It was interesting to read about the bridge and the seawall.
    I’m hoping we can return!

    Brazoria Beach

    Nice!

I think this is a beautiful spot, but be warned—there are a lot of mosquitoes. As soon as I stopped, they swarmed me immediately. It was so intense that I ended up sleeping in my car. A few even made it inside as soon as I opened the door. By morning, my car was completely covered in mosquitoes, and I didn’t step outside at all.

Aside from that, it was a beautiful, foggy night and morning. My time here was brief, but the scenery was lovely. The weather was quite warm.
