White River City Park

Enjoyed staying overnight on a trip through Indian country. Wouldn't have found this spot without the Dyrt app, but so glad I did. White River doesn't really have much to offer but a gas station/convenience center, and a little grocery store in town. There's one bar that seemed a little too rowdy, so I didnt check it out, but on the way out of town going north, there's a nice Dollar General if you need to pick anything up. The camp site is less than a mile from hwy 83, but it's still on the edge of town. If the rodeo folks aren't in town, you'll probably have it all to yourself. There are 12 sites, about 10 are well-shaded. Bathrooms on the south side are clean. There is water in the middle area. Came out fairly cold.

WAZE is slightly wrong. Campground is on right - look for the showground sign. Turn towards it, and ground is then on the left. Lovely and quiet, lots of trees for sun and wind shelter. Ideal for one night.

I've been driving the back roads of South Dakota all day and was trying to shorten my trip. This place is all I need. A free place to park. Maybe 10 sites. No table, no fire ring .next to the rodeo as others have said. Would be busy when the rodeo's happening in July and August. Pit toilets were open but not cared for. Not sure I would want to sit.

There are shade trees. It’s simple but effective. Apple Maps had me go left instead of right. There is only one other person. The town White River has gas and other minor amenities.

There is an outhouse but it was locked. No picnic tables or fire rings, but there was water and camping was free!

I'm the only one here. Tent camping. It's great. There is a water spigot. Bathrooms.

I guess one downside is that there are frequent loud sirens in the evening. Hopefully they don't go all night.

5-6 pull-in spaces in a little loop right near the main road. Pretty tight but most spots have a bit of shrubbery separation and we were all alone, seems like a pretty quiet place. Seems best for campervan/small RV type setups.

HAS BATHROOMS. The women's needed cleaning but the men's was just fine.

This is a good basecamp for The Badlands 1hr 20mins away, hence 2 stars. It's a park just outside a rodeo arena and across the street from a neighborhood. No water, no bathrooms, no showers, or fire rings. It's easy to get to and easy to find. I got here on a Sunday when it was empty. The spots are pretty close together so there's no privacy. There is no body of water here so the profile pic is misleading. I would only come back here bc it's free and if I was in another pinch.
