Best Glamping near North Myrtle Beach, SC

North Myrtle Beach has several glamping options that go beyond what you'd find in regular tent camping. North Myrtle Beach City Park Campground has comfortable yurts with climate control and nice bedding. The area's State Park rents safari tents that come with electricity and better food choices than you'd typically cook at a campsite. If you stay at the North Myrtle Beach Recreation Area, you'll find fancy furnishings and staff ready to help with your needs. The glamping spots here let you enjoy the outdoors while still having some luxury. You'll have your own bathroom and hot shower, unlike when you're roughing it in a tent. North Myrtle Beach County Park Campground gives you bigger sites with more distance between neighbors. You should reserve months ahead if you're coming in summer when it gets busy. Many people prefer camping here in spring or fall when the weather is just right for outdoor stuff. Winter is much quieter if you want more peace and quiet. The campsites have good tree cover for shade and privacy. North Myrtle Beach glamping works well for couples or families, with different setups available.

    Pirateland Family Camping Resort

    Pros and cons

Pros- Friendly and helpful staff everywhere. Our sand and grass lot was level. We had nice neighbors all around us. Our family loved the pool and the kiddos couldn’t get enough of the pirate themed water park and lazy river. They have a well stocked store. A restaurant and game room. A food truck was also available daily. Easy access to the beach. The bathhouse was clean, well stocked and climate controlled.

Cons- We were all packed in snug like sardines. Traffic is busy always.

Little Pee Dee State Park Campground

A quiet and clean state park

Little Pee Dee State Park is a quiet and clean campground on the banks of Lake Norton. Locals often come here for fishing and non-motorized boating.  We were fortunate to witness a mass crayfish event--the recent flooding had brought them out of the swamp and up the spillway, much to the delight of seafood lovers.

The campground had two different campground hosts, and they kept the restrooms and campsites immaculately clean.

Campsites have a fire ring/grate and a picnic table, but no trash cans, and you'll need to bring your trash to a large bin located at the edge of the campsites.

There are some nice sites right at the edge of Lake Norton, but the abundant water plants don't allow you to fish from the side of the lake, and it's not really a swimming lake. These sites accommodate RVs and have water & electric.  If you're on a budget, there are tent-only sites off the water.

The campground recently built a sleeping cabin, which is a cute structure with air conditioning/heat, bunk beds, and a free-standing bed (the cabin sleeps four, total). Guests can use a fire ring and Adirondack chairs, hammock, and grill.

The park also has a nice shelter for use.

There is no WiFi here, and cellular internet is spotty. There isn't a camp store, but the Ranger Station does have ice, firewood, and a small number of souvenirs for sale.

    Carolina Beach State Park Campground

    Beachtrips made affordable

Great location close to Wilmington and Carolina Beach. The recent addition of air-conditioned cabins are a welcome alternative during the hot summer months even though they book up quickly. We enjoyed fishing and exploring the campground.

    Ocean Lakes Family Campground

    Very Nice

Level sites with full hook-ups, some paved. Staff are polite and respectful. On-site security, potable water refill stations. Sites are reasonably spaced and the campground is next to the beach. Small store, ice cream parlor, and pizza restaurant that will deliver to your site. Events go on here often, like concerts, Halloween trick-or-treat, Christmas celebrations, Thanksgiving meals, etc. Quiet hours are perfect and enforced. Cannot beat the price on rv storage which is by the quarter, not monthly. Bathhouses are always clean. Have stayed there many times and love it. They even have a rv garage if you need work done.

    Carolina Beach State Park Campground

    Great spot!

I’ve been staying here every summer since i was a kid. So probably 11 summers now. It’s a great place. Clean bathrooms and cute well air conditioned cabins. You can ride your bike or walk to the boardwalk with some of the way having a paved bike trails. Gates close i think at 10 and open in the morning so remember to bring bikes. During the summer it is very humid and hot with lots of mosquitoes so remember to bring your bug spray. Try britt’s doughnuts of wake and bake before you leave, i promise you won’t regret it.

    Pirateland Family Camping Resort

    Good for off season locals

The one thing that really bothered me was that they had dozens of people just riding around drinking beer and driving all day. Then they would just Cruz around drinking and driving at night? With dogs and babies ?

    Either way:

Bathrooms: 5/5 clean & air-conditioning in all of them.

    Sites: 3/5 just average/fine

Pools: 5/5 full on kids water park + Olympic pool + lazy river.

Food: 3/5 loads of options. Nothing good. They don't let Uber eats or DD come deliver and you have to meet them at the gate.

Closeness to other sites: 1/5 you are up each other's buttcracks

Dog rating: 4/5 no problem but also SO dog friendly we had to be very mindful of others not having their dogs on leash.

    Carolina Beach State Park Campground

Beautiful coastal forest on the banks of the Cape Fear River

The group campground is isolated from the rest of the camping areas and is quiet at night. There are a lot of park visitors who walk through the area, but the trail through goes around he main campsites. The pit toilets are in need of some attention, but have always been well stocked. It’s about 400 yards to hike in, so we used a wagon to bring in gear. No water on site, but a really nice fire pit with grill top and 2 picnic tables. Shady tent sites available, but really hot and buggy in summer. Group camp site is about .5 mile hike from the river which is great for wading, but swimming is not allowed.

Many species of carnivorous plants grow here and abundant wildlife.

in the summer months there is a place to rent kayaks and paddle boards at the marina.

    Pirateland Family Camping Resort

    Fun beach party campground!

If you like party vibes, making friends with your neighbors, and staying up late for a drink, this campground rules.

We had a basic inland site with full hookups and a picnic table. The area where inland sites are located has a bunch of trees, we loved the shade and it was perfect for our 22 ft trailer, but I can see a big rig having some trouble navigating.

There’s a pool and a lazy river for when you want to switch it up from the beach, and a general store with camper equipment, souvenirs, and stocked with a lot of things you may have forgotten at home. Decent prices too, not slammin’ deals but didn’t feel like there was a huge mark up on anything. Though we have a shower/toilet in our trailer, the bath houses were a clean and air conditioned alternative. They all had outdoor showers and foot rinsing stations, which were super convenient when cleaning up after the beach.

The beach was beautiful, shallows for a couple hundred yards when the tide was out, and relatively clean for a busy beach. We brought our dog with us, so we could take him to the beach before 10AM and after 5PM. You’re supposed to have them on a leash all of the time, but we found a spot devoid of others and we’re able to let him go to play frisbee in the water. Very dog friendly campground, by the way.

Overall, we loved our time there and are even planning on coming back next year! Again, an awesome campground for outgoing folks looking for a beach party vibe. I would steer clear if you’re looking for something quiet and private.
