Not all campsites have identical amenities. Read the campsite information on the reservations website to see photos of campsites; check availability and fees; find out whether a specific site is wheelchair accessible, has access to water, bathouses or pit toilets, or has electric hookup; and learn other important information.

Tent, trailer and RV camping The park's family campground is located in a wooded area near Snow's Cut.

There are 69 campsites with no hook-ups, including two wheelchair-accessible sites. Ten campsites have full hookups (water, electric and sewer), including one wheelchair-accessible site.

Each site is equipped with a picnic table and grill or fire ring. Drinking water and restrooms with hot showers are located nearby.

Camper cabins In addition to the 79 campsites, the park has four camper cabins located in the family campground. These camping cabins sleep six people in two rooms, one with a double bed and one with two sets of bunk beds. Each cabin has electrical outlets and a heating and air-conditioning unit. Outside each cabin, there is a picnic table, charcoal grill and a fire ring. Drinking water and restrooms with hot showers are located nearby.

Group camping There are also two camping areas for organized groups located along Swamp Trail and are available by reservation only. Site #1 accommodates up to 26 people; site #2 accommodates up to 40 people. These areas include two picnic tables, grills/fire rings and pit toilets. Water and shower facilities are not available. This area is accessible only by foot and is located approximately 400 yards from the Flytrap Trail parking area. Reservations can be made by contacting the park marina office.

With a marina providing access to some of North Carolina's best fishing spots, a secluded camping area beneath towering trees, and miles of hiking trails that traverse a variety of distinct habitats—not to mention the presence of the Venus flytrap, one of the world's most unique carnivorous plants—it's no wonder Carolina Beach State Park is a popular coastal attraction. Beach Camping NC is located in an area steeped in both history and natural diversity, the park includes a visitor's center with exhibits depicting the wonders of its environment.

Singletary Lake State Park offers group camps available to nonprofit organizations. The camps provide a unique camping experience, creating the perfect setting in which to interpret natural surroundings and to unite in work and play. At least 20 people must be in the group, and the group must also be a part of a verifiable organization.

Camp Ipecac can accommodate up to 84 people. It is open from April 1 through October 31.

The camp includes 10 standard cabins (twin bunk beds for 8 people per cabin), and one cabin that is accessible to people with limited mobility or disabilities (twin bunk beds for 4 people total). It also includes an accessible mess hall and an accessible bathhouse with restrooms.

All amenities are provided for campers, except for food, cleaning supplies, and bed linens.

A basketball goal, a volleyball net, a horseshoe pit, a group-sized charcoal grill, and picnic tables are located near the cabins. A campfire circle in each camp offers the perfect setting for an evening of fellowship and marshmallow roasting.

The facilities were built by the Resettlement Administration. The camp was named for Carolina Ipecac, Euphorbia ipecacuanhae, a herb common in the region's sandy soil. Extract taken from the herb's dried roots is used for medicinal purposes.

    Nice spot for family/friends gathering

This is a spacious group camping area; You can rent some cabins and/or rent RV spots so if you have a mixed camping family, so came come in their rvs/trailers and others can rent a cabin and y'all will still be next to each other.  The park is on the smaller size but has a few hiking trails that are very nice.  It also has a trail that goes around Singletary lake!  The lake is awesome, great kayaking and fishing!  The area is just away from White lake and Elizabethtown to be secluded and private but close enough to get what you need from the Walmart or Food Lion in town!  There are also a decent number of "hometown" restaurants in town if you want to go out to eat!  Georgio's is awesome!

    Great Stay!

We loved our time at Holden Beach RV Park! The staff is so friendly, and the campground is beautifully maintained. It’s in a perfect location too.

Upon check in we were escorted to our site, and they even helped us back in. The bathrooms and laundry were clean and kept up well during our stay. There’s a small playground and a pretty big dog park. We were there during Thanksgiving, so they had a potluck meal for all of the guests in the park. We really enjoyed that!

The gift shop is super cute, and they have the biggest DVD library for free rentals!

The only negative was that our site seemed to be one of the few that directly faced another site even though it did not show that on the park map. We ended up being super close to the other campers (so much so that we were basically all around the same fire pit) which was a little uncomfortable since they were strangers.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back! We will just make sure to pick a different site number next time.

    Fantastic Location

After hearing about the mosquito situation, I was worried, but have not seen one yet - October 9. We hiked a trail to see Venus flytraps in the wild. A short peddle to the ocean beach. Very nice sites.

    Great way to unplug

We stayed in site 5 for 11 days. The Yurt had been removed but the platform stayed. We were able to get up our large tent on the platform and have enough space for our chairs. The lake is beautifully kept and clean. Very shallow. You can walk out a good 300 meters. We kayaked and fished while we were here. The rangers were helpful and checked in to make sure we didn’t need anything and kept the trash can empty. All the locals we spoke to we friendly! The down side is you are a long walk to the toilets. This is primitive so no power or water at the site. We absolutely loved it and plan to come back again!

Bring mosquito netting or pop up to keep the horse flies away!

    Simply….. THE BEST

We stayed here for one night and I cannot say enough good things about this place ! First of all, we weren’t even supposed to stop here but my mother got sick and we could not continue, so I found this within a 5 min search and book a deluxe spot within 10! We showed up no more than a half hour after that and they were already ready for us. Secondly, I locked my keys in my with the car running and with my sleeping kid and cat in it…. while I was freaking out, their INCREDIBLE staff, I don’t use the word incredible lightly they truly were the most caring people I’ve had at a campsite, tried to find a car kit and when they couldn’t called the fire department for me (shoutout to the firefighters for being so fast) and checked in on us the whole time. Definitely felt embarrassed and mad at myself but the staff was so kind to me I couldn’t thank them enough. Some of my favorite things beside the staff was the welcome packet which includes a free gift at the general store (has everything you forget lol) as well as the tide tables, amazing bathrooms (Pristine and even had linoleum with an outdoor light for nighttime), small shrubbery between the spots so even if you are right next to someone you have still feel like you have your own space, firewood delivered to your sight upon request (obviously you pay for it lol), a free trolly to the public beach and shops, and all amenities were so nice and so clean. Will 100% be back again and if you are looking for a myrtle beach style of vacation, check out Holden Beach and this amazing RV park!

    Great place

We come here a couple times a year. They are always making improvements along with keeping it clean and comfortable. Nice sites for a private campground with meticulously maintained facilities. They also have a new pool that is wonderful.

    Over night stop

We did an overnight stop here.

The campground was ok, but our site sucked. It was under construction, so the yard was tore up and we had no picnic table. The site was super uneven, so we didn’t pull the slides out. Sucked about that picnic table for that reason especially.

The campground is ok for a holiday.

    Bugs galore, but great Amenities

Just recently got back from a trip here and let me tell you the bugs were vicious! couldn’t walk away from our Thermacell Mosquito Repeller without getting attacked. the bathrooms are very recently re tiled but lost out on benches in the bathroom which makes it a bit inconvenient for changing after showers. the RV run the park and are bothersome at night. will still be going back been camping there since childhood.

    Carolina Beach State Park Campground

    Unpleasant Stay

This campground has plenty of curb appeal: large sites, nicely spaced; shade trees and privacy shrubs; clean, well-lit bathrooms with quality fixtures. I only realized my mistake once I started setting up my tent. The biggest drawback here is the mosquitoes. Out of 30+ campgrounds this summer, this is the first one where I've had to break out the picaridin lotion. (It worked, luckily.) Other wildlife included big black ants - lots of them - and spiders so massive I could see their eyes gleaming in the beam of my headlamp.

These are all natural parts of camping in this environment. What really ground my gears was the RV campers across from me who ran a generator. They turned it off at 11 pm, thankfully, but it came right back on at 8 am. I wasted no time getting out of there. Bad, bad campground etiquette. RV folks - please don't do this, even if you're technically allowed to. It ruins the experience for your neighbors.

    Great spot!

I’ve been staying here every summer since i was a kid. So probably 11 summers now. It’s a great place. Clean bathrooms and cute well air conditioned cabins. You can ride your bike or walk to the boardwalk with some of the way having a paved bike trails. Gates close i think at 10 and open in the morning so remember to bring bikes. During the summer it is very humid and hot with lots of mosquitoes so remember to bring your bug spray. Try britt’s doughnuts of wake and bake before you leave, i promise you won’t regret it.

    Carolina Beach State Park Campground

    Beautiful, convenient.

Great campground, excellent marina and paddling opportunities on the Cape Fear River with paddle access to many small white sand beaches.  Marine store nearby, Bath houses very clean and newish.  Sites relatively private and well shaded for the most part.  Be careful in site selection though a few would be very tight for even the smallest pop ups with someone with a PhD. in backing up.  I would avoid #60 & 61 in particular. While in the town of Carolina Beach, campground in not on the beach.  Beaches are a brief drive away. Nice hiking opportunities too.  Shopping and dining options only minutes away.

    Lake Waccamaw State Park Campground

    Looooong Walk

This campground is very beautiful - clean amenities, and only a few well-kept campsites with fire rings, grills and several picnic benches. The sites are all a far distance from one another so there’s no chance of bothering one another at night. We had two neighbors during our stay but never heard or saw them, except when coming and going from the site to the parking area.

The only warning I’d give is you are permitted to drive to your campsite to set up, but sites 2-5 are a quarter mile plus from the parking area. I didn’t read the key on the map, so that’s my fault for not knowing. But just a heads up, especially sites 4 and 5 (we were in 4) are very far from the bathroom. Don’t forget anything in the car.

    Rustic Hospitality, Close to Beach

+ Super friendly and helpful team members - from office check in process to any questions I had about the campground, RV'ing, nearby places to go…these folks were about as kind and thoughtful as it gets!

+ Loved the location so close the beach and nearby grocery, gas, activities

+ The escort folks get 5 stars for being SUPER and patient at assisting new campers back up their rig

+ Trolley service to the beach :)

    - The trolley service wasn't operating the day I wanted to go (though it is off-season and good help may be hard to find.) A text feature for the office to notify campers of any unforeseen schedule changes would be welcome.

Overall, I loved this spot, and that was largely due to the people who worked there. Very kind and did a thorough job of orienting me to their campground, amenities, and policies. I liked the rustic dirt roads throughout the campground, and the wifi was solid, so a nice mix of nature and modern amenities. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they are actively adding features and sites, including glamping, and maybe even some sort of lazy river, so I want to leave room to do an updated 5* review when I go back!

    Everything we need

This place has everything we need. Decent size sites, water, 30Amp, sewer, great WiFi (repeaters positioned at every other site, especially in the new section). There is also a playground, dog park, camp store, nearby grocery and other stores, etc. spent 5 nights, Sun - Thu night and really enjoyed it. Some monthly campers around who were friendly and helpful. We were a 5 minute drive to the beach and not far from other sites that we were looking to visit. The staff was also very nice and helpful. We were led to our site and the guide made sure we were OK and would have stayed had we needed help. Will do this again when visiting that area.

    Disappointing

While the grounds are pretty, very tight sights. Bathrooms are quite dirty and strong sewer smell all around. Many unsupervised children…one even was crawling under our RV. There are definitely no hiking trails to speak of…followed one only to come away with ticks as it was very overgrown. I suppose all this can be tolerated, however the automatic gunfire during the evening/night was very disconcerting.
