Best Dog-Friendly Camping near North Myrtle Beach, SC

Barefoot RV Resort and North Myrtle Beach RV Resort accommodate pets at their clean, well-maintained campgrounds with concrete pads. Barefoot provides spacious sites with fire pits, while North Myrtle Beach features a waterfront boardwalk along the Intracoastal Waterway where owners can walk dogs. Leashed pets are welcome at both locations, though some areas like pool decks restrict animal access. Myrtle Beach Travel Park allows pets throughout most of its extensive campground, with designated pet exercise areas and waste stations. Dogs must remain on leashes no longer than six feet. The resort-style campgrounds offer full hookup RV sites, and several feature pet-friendly cabin accommodations with designated outdoor areas for animals.

North Myrtle Beach area campgrounds provide various amenities for four-legged visitors, including designated dog exercise spaces and walking paths. Pet owners frequently appreciate the concrete pads which stay cleaner than dirt sites during wet weather. Each campground enforces specific pet policies, typically requiring proof of current vaccinations, limiting pets to two or three per site, and prohibiting certain aggressive breeds. Campgrounds are strategically located near dog-friendly beaches with seasonal access hours, though pets must remain leashed at all times on public beaches. The parks stay immaculately clean with daily site maintenance. Local pet supply stores and veterinary clinics operate within 15 minutes of most campgrounds, making the area convenient for extended stays with pets.

North Myrtle Beach RV Resort and Dry Dock Marina

    Perfection

We enjoyed every moment.  Everyone was so helpful and nice.  The campground was immaculate, from the our site to the community laundry, showers, pool and playground.  Enjoyed seeing the boats on the inter coastal waterway.  So many surrounding restaurants across the river and just minutes from North Myrtle Beach SC or Sunset Beach NC.  Can’t wait for a return trip!  And so many nice fellow campers.

    Wishing Well

    Good Location for Economy Minded

We stayed here for 2 weeks in September 2019. We don’t have kids, so we didn’t need amenities to entertain them. There is no pool, or playground, but there is a large area to walk your pets. Yes, they are PET FRIENDLY.
It’s not a large RV campground, with only 34 back-in sites. You do have FULL HOOKUPS. The owner is very friendly and is easy to work with. He keeps the grounds neat and the showers and restrooms clean. You are only 10 minutes to Sunset Beach and Ocean Isle Beach. Also, North Myrtle Beach is only 25 minutes away. They close December 15th, until sometime in spring.
If you are just trying to get a place in the area and don’t need a lot of campground amenities, I would recommend this place to you. We’ll definitely be going back.

North Myrtle Beach RV Resort and Dry Dock Marina

Great Amenities - Quiet off season

We camped here in our 34 travel trailer. We both work from home on hot spots and our Verizon connection was great.

The place is VERY quiet in the off season. We didn’t have any neighbors in the surrounding spots.

The pool area looks super nice, but it was a little to chilly for us to spend any time in the pool. The hot tub however was a great way to end our work days! There are plenty of showers and two laundry rooms. Both are very nice and clean. There’s a small arcade which was fun too.

Check in was super easy. We were very late and they accommodated us. The staff is polite and friendly.

The site is great. Concrete pad makes for super quick and easy leveling set up. There’s a fire pit and picnic table. The spots next to us are “premium” so they have a little pavilion over their table.

The dog park is small and definitely geared towards smaller dogs. It has a cute agility type course set up. Our GSD felt a little to big for the dog park, but we made it work.

    Everything we need

This place has everything we need. Decent size sites, water, 30Amp, sewer, great WiFi (repeaters positioned at every other site, especially in the new section). There is also a playground, dog park, camp store, nearby grocery and other stores, etc. spent 5 nights, Sun - Thu night and really enjoyed it. Some monthly campers around who were friendly and helpful. We were a 5 minute drive to the beach and not far from other sites that we were looking to visit. The staff was also very nice and helpful. We were led to our site and the guide made sure we were OK and would have stayed had we needed help. Will do this again when visiting that area.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Daddy Joe's

Here We Go to Daddy Joe’s

We were delighted to find beautiful scenery, friendly staff and a comfortable campsite that included a picnic table and fire pit. Daddy Joe’s is an awesome place to bring the kiddos. A splash park, mini golf, swimming pools and the park has activities throughout the year. It’s dog friendly with two dog parks and plenty of places to walk and run!

Guide to North Myrtle Beach

North Myrtle Beach area campsites offer year-round camping access, with average summer temperatures reaching 90°F and winter lows rarely dropping below 40°F. The region's sandy coastal terrain requires specific equipment considerations, with concrete pads available at many locations to prevent sinking during wet weather conditions. Most campgrounds maintain full service year-round with seasonal activity schedules.

What to do

Explore the Intracoastal Waterway: North Myrtle Beach RV Resort features a waterfront boardwalk where visitors can watch boats travel up and down the waterway. "We enjoyed seeing the boats on the inter coastal waterway. So many surrounding restaurants across the river and just minutes from North Myrtle Beach SC or Sunset Beach NC," writes reviewer Teri S.

Fish from private piers: Apache Family Campground provides fishing access from their own pier. "They have a large pier for fishing located in the campground and if you are staying there they will provide tickets so you can use the pier," notes Gary G. The pier restaurant serves fresh seafood with ocean views.

Attend seasonal events: Holiday celebrations and themed activities run throughout the year at many campgrounds. "They do activities for families. When we were there we went to the America bingo. They gave away small food prizes. The kids had fun and gave us something to do. They do give away prizes for best American dressed," reports Samantha O.

What campers like

Beach access options: Direct beach access varies between campgrounds, with some offering private entrance points and others providing shuttle service. "During the summer weekends they provide pool service for drinks which is really nice. The resort also has a beach house directly on the beach with shuttle service," explains Deb P. about Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach.

Water features beyond the ocean: Multiple pools and water amenities serve as alternatives to beach swimming. "Two differnt sections one wooded and shaded other in dead sun but closer to Ocean. Excellent pool and lazy river, arcade, games, pool activites, Fun Entertainment such as Karoke, bands, DJ parties," writes Wendy M. about Myrtle Beach Travel Park.

Camp store convenience: On-site stores stock camping necessities and beach supplies. "The park has a well stocked camp store, laundry facilities, cable access and wifi so you never need to leave," according to Jerry W. Many stores remain open year-round with reduced hours during winter months.

What you should know

Varying noise levels: Campground atmosphere changes dramatically between peak and off-peak seasons. "This place is huge. There is so much to do at the resort. Plenty of bathhouses and the showers are hot. You can rent golf carts at an affordable rate," writes Cindy S. about Lakewood Camping Resort.

RV site density differences: Spacing between sites varies significantly between campgrounds. "We only have a 24 foot motor home - so we felt a bit claustrophobic between the huge RVs on all sides of us. We decided to move to a different site that gave is some more room and not sandwiched in between other campers," reports Becky V.

Golf cart regulations: Rules regarding personal and rental golf carts differ between facilities. "Rent a golf cart and ride around. Make sure to decorate it because there is a cart parade every night from 9-11," advises Blake K. Golf cart rental costs typically range from $50-$100 per day depending on season.

Tips for camping with families

Water park access: Pirateland Family Camping Resort offers water recreation beyond the beach. "This place is awesome especially if you have kids. Bath houses are nice and clean, splash pool is top notch, putt putt, food, and the beach here is really nice," notes Landon T.

Activity directors: Structured family activities provide entertainment options beyond swimming. "There is a coffee house, seaside amphitheater, seaside indoor pool, and tons of activities for the family, all of which is included with your campsite," shares Rick B.

Security considerations: Gated entrances and security patrols enhance safety at many locations. "Basically everything you need in one location. Pool & other activity areas, camp store & laundry, gift shop, pier, and restaurant. Vacation rentals & rv spots are fairly tightly spaced, bath houses located in every quadrant & clean," writes Aubrey O.

Tips for RVers

Site amenities: Barefoot RV Resort provides consistent site features across their property. "Our site was large enough to accommodate our 34-foot travel trailer and parking for our vehicle and a guest vehicle. The campground was very clean, and Wi-Fi was exceptional," notes Freddie D. about their pet-friendly camping experience near North Myrtle Beach.

Site maintenance protocols: Regular site cleaning procedures ensure consistent standards. "All concrete sites with 20, 30, and 50 amp service. Gated and safe. As soon as a camper pulls out, they pressure wash every site as needed. Hand clean the power boxes and sanitize the tables," explains Josh D.

Off-season considerations: Winter camping offers different experiences with reduced crowds. "We stayed the winter and loved it. Nice level concrete parking for all rig types and sizes. Well kept grass lawn at each spot with picnic table and fire pit. Spaces are ample and most guests are friendly," shares Msmetoo48 S.
