Best RV Parks & Resorts near Fort Mill, SC

Several RV parks provide spaces in and around Fort Mill, South Carolina. Crown Cove RV Park offers full hookup sites with 50-amp service, water, and sewer connections in a more developed setting. Sites accommodate big rigs, though the park primarily serves long-term residents. "Sites are pretty close together, but we still had adequate room to spread out," according to one camper who stayed at nearby Kings Mountain State Park, which features water and electric hookups but no sewer connections at individual sites. Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort provides paved sites with full hookups near the theme park, though some sites have notable front-to-back slopes that can make leveling challenging. Charlotte-Fort Mill KOA offers pull-through sites with concrete pads at premium locations and back-in sites with standard hookups.

For essential services, dump stations are available at Ebenezer Park Campground and Kings Mountain State Park for those without sewer hookups. Cell reception varies significantly between parks - Verizon service can be non-existent at Kings Mountain while AT&T typically maintains stronger coverage throughout the region. Most RV parks in the area remain open year-round, though amenities like pools may close seasonally. Pets are permitted at many locations including Crown Cove and Charlotte-Fort Mill KOA, though specific restrictions may apply. Based on reviews from The Dyrt, noise levels can be a consideration when choosing locations - some campers noted significant noise from nearby highways, ambulance routes, and a racetrack near Iron City Campground. Propane fill service is limited, so arriving with adequate supplies is recommended.

Kings Mountain — Kings Mountain State Park

    Overall a Good Experience

Took the new pop-up to Kings Mountain State Park this past weekend and had a great time. The sites are pretty close together, but we still had adequate room to spread out. Each site has water, 30 amp electric, a picnic table, and a fire pit ring. Our site was a pull-through, but the majority of them are back-in. Throughout the campground, AT&T had great cell coverage, but Verizon was non-existent. Our site was a stone's throw from the bath/shower house, which was clean and recently updated. When not in the side, a short walk takes you to the Trading Post, a small store selling firewood ($7), ice, souvenirs, and sundries. Next to that is a large playground connected to a pavilion. A short 2 minute drive (or longer hike if you are feeling ambitious) takes you to the Kings Mountain Military Museum where you can learn of all things historical to Kings Mountain. There's a small model village and numerous other attractions to view while at the park as well. Overall this was a great experience. It's close to home for us, and the price was fantastic ($30 nightly). Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Spacious Skies Peach Haven

    Nice campground, lots of amenities.

Overall, this is a very nice, clean park conveniently located to the interstate I-85) and attractions in the area. It has all the amenities you would expect to find at a KOA such as a swimming pool, playground, dog park, miniature golf, store, clubhouse, and more (including goats). It is by far the nicest private campground in the area that we have stayed at.

This KOA has 127 sites offering varying degrees of services to accommodate RV's, tents, and those wanting to rent cabins. We chose a 50-amp full hook-up back-in site but were upgraded to a pull-thru so we could be in a sunny location to mitigate the chilly air. How nice of them! Our site (#79) was perfectly level as were most others (but not all). Water, electric, and cable hook-ups were well placed at the site and worked fine. We paid $37/night(with the KOA member discount). Nice, large grassy area for dogs to walk and sniff and there is a decent size dog park.  Roads and pads are hard packed gravel with grass in between sites. Some sites are set in a wooded area while some are out in the open with plenty of sun and satellite coverage. The park is big rig friendly and the roads are easily navigable. All sites have a picnic table and some had fire pits but ours did not. Cable is included and offered over 50 channels. Wifi worked well at our site.  The laundry was small with three washers and three dryers but very clean and had a decent book exchange. The bathroom and showers were super clean and looked like they were updated recently.

The campground is extremely clean and the owners/employees are super friendly. There is a short hiking trail (less than a mile) through the woods and plenty of green space in front of some of the pull-thrus. playground large swimming pool with large deck putt putt with lots of goat humor.

The only downside would be the closeness of sites but that is pretty much what you expect from private RV parks. Fortunately, we did not have neighbors right next to us which gave us more space. I'm usually not a KOA fan but have to say this one was great for our overnight stay and we would recommend it.

    Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort

    convenient to Carowinds, decent campground

Older campground lots of shade.  staff very friendly and helpful. We were really surprised with how much has been invested in Carowinds over the years by Cedar Fair that the campground has been untouched.  Bathrooms/bathhouses were very clean and seem to be the one part of the campground that has been updated.  One section of the campground has been turned into long term camping and many looked like they had been there for years.  campground was quiet other than noise from air traffic as airport is nearby but it was minor.   Campsites have decent space in between each other which is great bc the sites are small in length and you will be parking either beside the rig or sideways in front of it. We stayed in a back-in site and most back-in sites seemed rather level but pull throughs were hit or miss on that aspect.  If you are staying here to go to the park then it is very convenient and has an excellent shuttle that runs frequently and drops you off near the front gate.  Very small camp store that has most of the basics. Campground overall is clean, safe and secure but we expected a little more from theme park campground.  We live nearby and are pass holders at Carowinds so we will likely stay frequently due to the convenience.

    Lake Norman State Park Campground

    Beautiful park, great facilities

Full hookups were all filled but site 29 was a primitive, deep, level 57 foot site right near water siphon and a beautiful modern bathhouse picnic table and fire grate/ring. Fair amount of space between sites, firewood sold by camphost or ranger. Made yummy hot dogs over fire, wonderful night, hot showers, clean facilities. You will be thrilled with this park, lake is beautiful, many hiking trails, biking, etc. Verizon cell service was excellent at our site and appeared good throughout park.

    Chester State Park Campground

    Campsites and views, oh my!

First time staying at Chester State Park. Checked in at the Ranger’s station with friendly staff and a small store front with ice available. Picked pull through site 16. All 25 of the sites are on mostly level ground. The lake from the campground has a fairly new access via a ADA compliant walkway with lighting leading to swings, benches and Adirondack chairs surrounding a rock fire pit. There are benches facing the lake for sitting and or fishing and a new deck that provide even better views of the lake. The trails are well marked and wide that run along the lake edge. There is fishing, kayaks and canoes at the boat dock for rent and to our children’s disappointment no swimming in the lake. The other side of the park has the boat dock, playgrounds for the kiddos and plenty of grassy areas and picnic tables for sitting by the lake. Also there is a professional disc golf course on site. Last but not least the bathhouse is up to date, clean and well stocked.

Kings Mountain — Kings Mountain State Park

    Nice quiet state park

This is a very nice state park. The sites are well spaced and wooded. (If you think they are too close together you haven’t been to many private campgrounds). Our site was level and spacious, although some were not as level. Our first site had an awkward incline. The guy at the trading post said they were working on them. We were there mid-week and the campground was very quiet. The only noise was from crows and other birds, and acorns falling in the woods. There is electric (some 50 amp) and water but no sewer. There are 2 dump stations. Several bathrooms/showers are available. There is a nice playground, hiking trails, a lake, canoe rental, and a trading post with some food, ice, camping supplies, firewood and souvenirs. There is also a separate Equestrian campground! The stare park is adjacent to Kings Mountain National Battlefield Park, with Revolutionary War history and more hiking.

    Crown Cove RV Park

    Keep Driving!

Subpar; seems to cater to long term residents. For the 3 pages of rules and regulations I was expecting a pristine campground; what we found was a half paved parking lot and our lot was on a hill side which made using our full hookups going up hill. No fire pit! Must provide ur own, rules state belongings must be 3ft away from away from neighboring sites which is almost impossible with how close sites are. Pass it up! Keep Driving! Would have given less than one star if possible
