Favorite State Park in SC

While this is a smaller park, it has a ton to offer. Rv and primitive sites, bathrooms with hot showers, playground for the kiddos, a lake with rental kayaks and paddleboats, and the camp host was super friendly. Easily my favorite state park in SC so far.

Nice Park

Went for a group camping event. Would definitely recommend it for that. Nice amount of space. Nice lake without heavy motorized boat traffic.

Great little state park

Was surprised how nice, clean, and well maintained this park was considering the small town near it is not doing well at all.

Nice Park

We enjoyed our weekend at Chester state park. My dog enjoyed the pond for swimming. Sites were decent and we felt we had privacy. Driving into the park was beautiful. Big huge trees and winding roads. There are not many tree in the camping area. There are some just not like it was driving in. They do have a place to rent boats. It was a nice, peaceful weekend getaway.

Beautiful Park with some nice sites and a lot to do

We landed a lucky spot here, we were in 6 and our friends were in 7.  While some sites have wonderful views of the lake, these two sites had a nice grassy area, big enough for some corn hole, frisbee or some tag.  It also had a few options for hammocks.  The bath house was close and kept very clean during out stay.

Beyond the campsite, there is an amazing seating area near the fishing dock, with multiple hanging bench swings, communal fire pits and a great view of the lake.  There was a nice trail around the lake, peddle boat rentals, and a world class frisbee golf course.

Easy Lake Access

My wife and I visit here often. Great access to the lake. Convenient to Charlotte metro area.

Campsites and views, oh my!

First time staying at Chester State Park. Checked in at the Ranger’s station with friendly staff and a small store front with ice available. Picked pull through site 16. All 25 of the sites are on mostly level ground. The lake from the campground has a fairly new access via a ADA compliant walkway with lighting leading to swings, benches and Adirondack chairs surrounding a rock fire pit. There are benches facing the lake for sitting and or fishing and a new deck that provide even better views of the lake. The trails are well marked and wide that run along the lake edge. There is fishing, kayaks and canoes at the boat dock for rent and to our children’s disappointment no swimming in the lake. The other side of the park has the boat dock, playgrounds for the kiddos and plenty of grassy areas and picnic tables for sitting by the lake. Also there is a professional disc golf course on site. Last but not least the bathhouse is up to date, clean and well stocked.
