Charlotte-Fort Mill KOA offers full hookups at pet-friendly sites throughout the campground. Dogs are welcome at this convenient location near Interstate 77, with several sites available for RVs, tents, and cabins. The campground maintains clean facilities with updated bathhouses and provides basic amenities including a pool, mini golf area, and playground. While the sites lack fire rings and are positioned relatively close together, the location serves as an excellent base for travelers with pets exploring the Charlotte area. Most camping areas feature gravel pads that are mostly level, though some reviewers note certain sites may require additional adjustment.

Nearby Anne Springs Close Greenway Group Camp provides a more nature-focused alternative for pet owners seeking trails and outdoor recreation. The 2,100-acre natural preserve offers walking paths circling Lake Haigler where leashed dogs can enjoy lakeside strolls. Though primitive camping has been limited in recent years, group camping events occasionally occur in designated areas. Crown Cove RV Park also accommodates pets with full hookup sites, though the campground primarily serves long-term residents and requires campers to provide their own fire pits. When visiting with pets, travelers should note that most campgrounds enforce standard leash policies and may have specific pet waste disposal areas. Bathroom cleanliness varies significantly between properties, with KOA facilities typically receiving higher ratings for maintenance and cleanliness.

      Huge!

Campground is huge & within walking distance of the raceway. Camping world is across the street if you forgot anything! Win! We parked across from the playground for the kids and it was so nice. They have a sand volleyball court there too. Dog park in the far back corner. Different vibe off of racing season. Very affordable & nice quiet stop! Off season, they turn two sites into one so you get 100' to yourself. All gravel. Grassy areas around for pets. Some sites have a grass backyard area. Fences & picnic tables separate the sites.

      It’s okay…

This campground is more for a temporary place to stay and not a place to hang out. There is a playground and a dog park, but there is no grass near where the RV’s park. It’s mostly gravel. Good for temporary staying.

      Spacious Skies Peach Haven

      Awesome Visit & Stay

We love this campground and can not wait to go back. It is in a great location and has a great staff. The cleanest campground we’ve stayed at: laundry room, bathhouse, etc. Awesome play ground for all ages of children, two dog parks, ponds, level sites, etc. We stayed in March so the pool was not open but looking forward to visiting again soon.

      Great stopover place

We were here one night. CG is nice, they have some seasonal sites and a lot of other sites. There are some new sites along the pond on the lower level. They also had buddy sites, perfect for a 2+ campers to gather as a group. Nice dog park, nice playground.

      We would stay here again.

      Spacious Skies Peach Haven

      Nice campground, lots of amenities.

Overall, this is a very nice, clean park conveniently located to the interstate I-85) and attractions in the area. It has all the amenities you would expect to find at a KOA such as a swimming pool, playground, dog park, miniature golf, store, clubhouse, and more (including goats). It is by far the nicest private campground in the area that we have stayed at.

This KOA has 127 sites offering varying degrees of services to accommodate RV's, tents, and those wanting to rent cabins. We chose a 50-amp full hook-up back-in site but were upgraded to a pull-thru so we could be in a sunny location to mitigate the chilly air. How nice of them! Our site (#79) was perfectly level as were most others (but not all). Water, electric, and cable hook-ups were well placed at the site and worked fine. We paid $37/night(with the KOA member discount). Nice, large grassy area for dogs to walk and sniff and there is a decent size dog park.  Roads and pads are hard packed gravel with grass in between sites. Some sites are set in a wooded area while some are out in the open with plenty of sun and satellite coverage. The park is big rig friendly and the roads are easily navigable. All sites have a picnic table and some had fire pits but ours did not. Cable is included and offered over 50 channels. Wifi worked well at our site.  The laundry was small with three washers and three dryers but very clean and had a decent book exchange. The bathroom and showers were super clean and looked like they were updated recently.

The campground is extremely clean and the owners/employees are super friendly. There is a short hiking trail (less than a mile) through the woods and plenty of green space in front of some of the pull-thrus. playground large swimming pool with large deck putt putt with lots of goat humor.

The only downside would be the closeness of sites but that is pretty much what you expect from private RV parks. Fortunately, we did not have neighbors right next to us which gave us more space. I'm usually not a KOA fan but have to say this one was great for our overnight stay and we would recommend it.

      Great Campground

We just finished a two week stay at Iron City Campground in Blacksburg, SC. Great campground. Lisa (the owner) was fantastic and super accommodating. We were in site 45 with full hookups. The pool/picnic area was clean. The sites were clean and arranged well and the entire campground is very well maintained. There is Saturday night karaoke and a fenced dog park with benches and a fire hydrant. Each site has a campfire ring, two person swing, picnic table. Some late night road noise, but nothing concerning. Very convenient to Shelby, Gafney, and Gardner Webb University. Great Campground. We will definitely stay here again when we’re back in the area.

      Great

Stayed here for one night through the Passport America discount. Their rate for a regular site is $52 (premium is a bit more), so with the PA discount it was $26, but with taxes and a $3 “processing fee” our rate for the night came to $32. We had a FHU site, pull through, very nice and clean and pleasant.

The RV park is lovely, wooded and quiet and peaceful, and has a campground feel. There are so many amenities here:

      -large clean new dog park

-pond that looks to be under construction

-nice new clean laundry room (dryers work great),$2.50/wash,$1.50 dry

-nice modern and clean and new showers (though unnecessarily gendered), 3 units in individual rooms

-pool with barbecue grill and picnic benches just outside the gate

-office has games, knick knacks, basic camping supplies, snacks, clothing, and adorable dog treats for sale, as well as a large book exchange shelf

-wifi is only good in the office

-propane for sale at $3.75/gal (in Nov 2023)

      -firewood is $7/bundle

      -playground

Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Good cell reception for ATT and Verizon. Trash bins but no recycling. Heads up there’s a hefty fee for early check in. They make this very clear so there are no surprises if you show up early. We had a great stay here.

      Chester State Park Campground

State Park with a Beautiful View of the Lake

I gave this campground four stars, but only for RVs and travel trailers. I would not give it four stars for tent campers. Tent campers would have a hard time finding a suitable site that would not be too rocky. When I checked in, the lady was nice enough to find a site with grass behind the gravel so I could set up my tent. She didn’t warn me that it was sloped. With that said, it is a campground in a beautiful setting. The lake and the sitting area beside the lake are both beautiful. There is a paved walkway down to the lake to a sitting area and a dock. The bath house was air conditioned, almost too much. It is a shock to the system moving from the intense South Carolina heat into the bath house. However, it was a nice break from the heat. Be aware that when you take a shower, you may have to wait a few minutes for the hot water to start. When I first turned it on, I wondered if there was any hot water. Eventually it came, and it was HOT, so I had to adjust it quickly. Also, take your own hand soap with you. There are paper towels but no soap. There are several trails, and you can rent boats, peddle boats, canoes, and kayaks. There is also a disc golf course. If I had known beforehand, I would have taken my own discs. That’s my fault for not doing the research. My favorite part of this camping experience was waking up early in the morning and sitting by the lake. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to capture a photo of the ducks taking off and flying in a perfect v-formation, but it was so peaceful there. Overall, this is a great campground to get away from civilization.

Fishing spots: Ebenezer Park Campground provides shoreline fishing access and boat launches for anglers with pets. Though temporarily affected by construction, the park remains popular with pet owners. One camper reported, "We were at site 50 and it was completely shaded. They were still under major construction redoing the beach and boat docks. But we still really enjoyed this park."

    What campers like

Clean facilities: Many pet-friendly campgrounds maintain clean restroom facilities. At McDowell Nature Preserve, campers appreciate "CLEAN RESTROOMS and showers with hot water, power even at the Tent sites, super nice staff, and priced right. Also, the camp was patrolled regularly by the police and I felt very safe."

Natural surroundings: Andrew Jackson State Park offers wooded sites with lake views for pet owners seeking nature-focused experiences. A visitor mentioned, "We stayed on site 16 right on the lake. Beautiful views. Our site was very steep, so took a lot to get level, but it was ok. The rangers were very nice and helpful."

Recreation options: Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort provides pet-friendly sites with additional amenities. As one camper described, "Private but great for families and bike ridding. Private pool game room. Laundry and camp store."

    What you should know

Seasonal variations: Kings Mountain State Park experiences different conditions throughout the year. A camper noted, "We stayed in May for a weekend. It was full of people and kids. There were great trails for you and your pup's to go hiking on. The camp itself was clean and well maintained."

Fire restrictions: Some campgrounds lack standard fire amenities. At Crown Cove RV Park, "No fire pit! Must provide ur own, rules state belongings must be 3ft away from away from neighboring sites which is almost impossible with how close sites are."

    Tips from RVers

Leveling challenges: Many pet-friendly campgrounds require additional preparation for RVs. At Anne Springs Close Greenway Group Camp, limited RV accessibility requires advance planning, though the area offers "thousands of acres are clean and well maintained with access to ok restrooms, fishing spots and a very nice restaurant inside."

Site selection: Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort provides level sites but fills quickly during peak times. A visitor reported, "Great place. Clean, well designed and maintained. The adjacent amusement park is closed due to Covid but i bet it is a blast to stay here when it is open. Wooded perimeter so you feel you are away from the city."

Access considerations: McDowell Nature Preserve has some limitations for larger RVs. One camper noted, "The park is lovely, with lots of trails and nature. Beautiful wooded setting. So awesome to have hiking trails that lead right out of the campground. That said, there aren't many sites for RVs and some are not level."
