Mystic KOA

From the first interaction you see this KOA is customer focused. The staff is friendly, professional and helpful. The grounds are well maintained as are the facilities.

Pros: 15 minutes from Mystic CT 50 AMP, sewer & water hookup Nice amenities

Cons: Gravel site No shade Tight site & hard to get in/out for big rig

Stayed at a great wooded tent site - quiet during the week and packed out by the weekend. Close to the bathrooms, with water spigot and electric hook up. Two small ponds with enough blue gill action to excite the kids. Worth checking out!

 were here to visit the submarine base. But the staff are amazing and the entire place is completely geared to families. This weekend focused on Halloween. It is obvious that this is a real "thing" for the surrounding community. Family movies. Trick or treating and hay rides all as part of the stay. The organization reads the reviews and fixes issues accordingly. I would have rated 5, but the proximity to the interstate and subsequent road noise is too much for me. But for a very family friendly, community based place. Ive never seen a better one.

Failed us twice. We had stayed a few times and were never treated well. We move to about 7 campgrounds per season. This is the only one we had a major problem. One staff member was not trained well and yelled at us and approached us aggressively as we expressed our concerns with being made promises that were not kept and we were made to feel like we were unreasonable even though others had confirmed our reservations. Don’t camp here! It’s a risk.

Long sites with easy access. Mystic is a great town to visit.

Didn’t quite feel like camping, but it was still a lovely weekend away at the Mystic KOA. We decided to head down to check out the aquarium and stayed at a deluxe cabin. It was cute and clean and furnished with linens, cookware, utensils, kitchen essentials, keurig coffee maker/pods, and full-sized fridge. Only complaint was an odd, musty smell we couldn’t quite figure out.

The grounds are large with vast amounts of space. Be forewarned that it’s right off of 95, and the sound definitely carries. Trees are sparse in areas, but the sunsets were a nice trade off. Amenities seemed nice from what we could tell - cool outdoor movie screen, pools and playground, though we certainly didn’t get to enjoy these things in February.

This is a very clean and well run campground. My problem is that we camped in what is called their Safari area. This area is right up against RT 95. I can see the vehicles going by on the highway through the roughly 30 yards of trees between our rig and the highway. The noise is loud, constant and unrelenting all day and all night. They have numerous cabins here for rent and that look very nice. The kids have what looks like a very nice play ground and the management has put together some Halloween activities for them. We will probably be back, but not camping in Safari area ever again.

Pros: Helpful staff, morning garbage pickup, excellent laundry facility, plenty of activities and amenities for children. Cons: Wasps!! Wasps everywhere!! We did our best to keep them at bay by lighting some sage but they were persistent. Not much privacy back in the tent/cabin areas, camp sites very close together and people have the ability to stare right into your site.

We used this as our home-base to enjoy the area. Sites are close together, but we still enjoyed sitting around the fire at night after a day at the beach.

The pools are nice and kids had fun. The pond was nice for fishing, but I would suggest that they stock it for more fun, it is in desperate need of fish.

Overall no frills, but if in the area we would stop here again.

Left Burlingame to come here instead. Bathrooms were clean. Staff was accommodating, firewood delivery, daily garbage pickup. Full camper hook ups everything but sewer. Only thing I didn’t like was how close together the sites were, and the sight we were at you could hear highway traffic all night. Lots a fun things for kids to do. Super close to RI beaches.

Booked online and showed up after hours with no problem. They could mark the sides a little better

We've stayed here twice due to its proximity to Mystic. The grounds are ok at best with most of the activities closed. Staff is very rude. A good example; "How can I get change for the laundry facilities?" to which the staff member at the front office replied "ummmm ask?". Due to its proximity to I-95 you hear traffic all day and all night. I recently stayed at a KOA in Vermont and had a bad taste in my mouth because of Mystic. I was absolutely shocked at the difference in service between the locations and will likely stay somewhere else when in the Mystic area again.

Cute place Only downside our site didn’t have a picnic table. Had to drag neighboring site table. Heard lots of traffic from local highway.

We packed up the RV, our two dogs and drove to Mystic, CT. It was our first trip to the area. We chose Mystic KOA and stayed in a full hook up-50amp pull through site. On arrival, the campground was clean and spacious. Office staff very helpful with check in, and we were easily able to find our site. There were many things to do within the campground, some closed due to Covid, but that didn’t matter. We had a great time walking the dogs, and we used the dog run several times.

The campground is close to Mystic Seaport, which was beautiful. We ate Mystic Pizza II at our campsite (right down the road), and visited the adorable town of Groton to eat at Fred’s Lobster.

We will definitely return! Great experience!

Clean, comfortable campground aimed more towards glamping. Lots of rv sites and very nice cabins. Cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen at a campground.

This place, like most KOA’s, is very expensive and it seems that they do not spend much money on their sites. When you have to put 6 inches of leveling material under your front tires just to level your motorhome, that is unacceptable. The front and rear areas of sites are most important to be level. Add more dirt or grade the site so that they are level.

The WiFi was horrible even though the campground was mostly empty - might as well not even say you have it.

I cannot comment on cleanliness of the laundry room and bathrooms since our motorhome is self contained; however, it appears that it would be clean from the way the office was maintained. The staff were friendly. This place has fire-pits. They sell you 6 pieces of split wood for $7.00 ($$$$$). They offer quite a few cable channels.

Spent the 4th of July w my bio-dad here several yrs ago, don’t recall much except there were fireworks that hit several tents, fortunately no one was injured.

If you like close quarters and being welcomed by a booze bus, then this KOA is for you. The amenities seemed clean and fine, no complaints about the staff, but this KOA is not our cup of tea. The only good note for us is that it is convienantly close to the aquarium and mystic seaport visit that we were staying there for.

Call me old school, but when I camp, I want trees, space between sites, and privacy from neighboring sites. you won’t get that here. Think of row houses in any city and that’s what you get here. Bathrooms were clean, nice pool area and water slide. Best part of the campground was the Bar Car. A converted bus offering frozen adult and kid friendly beverages.

This KOA provides a lot to do for kids and families. The pool is small and usually crowded, but still very well kept. And then there's mini golf, hay rides, and lots of fun planned activities. The only drawback is the proximity to Interstate 95. You can hear the highway very well at night, particularly in the safari field. There are only a couple of "primitive" sites here, and I do not recommend those sites because they are very close to the dumpsters. We always rented a Kamping Kabin when we came here, which is a very basic cabin with bunk beds and a small refrigerator.

If you are looking for a big family friendly resort campground that's close to a lot of the area attractions, this place is for you. If you are looking for more of an authentic camping experience, you can save a lot of money by going to Hopeville Pond State Park which is not too far away.

Somewhat crowded

staff was very nice. Lots of places around to go sightseeing. Most of the area isn’t dog friendly, so be careful if you take your pet. No problem at the campground
