Pebble Ford Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Reservations are available at Pebble Ford, a small Forest Service campground off Forest Road 44 in Mt. Hood National Forest, open May through October. The campground has just three to four established sites, each with a picnic table and fire ring. A small creek runs between the sites, and a vault toilet sits across a footbridge. There is no running water on-site, so campers should plan to bring their own.

Sites here are notably spacious. A few downed trees sit near the sites, though reviewers note they don't block access. The main loop holds most of the sites, with one additional site near the creek accessed by a separate entrance. Views along the drive in include open sightlines toward the surrounding terrain, though the sites themselves sit under tree cover without long-range views. Several dispersed sites outside the main campground are also available at no cost, lacking the amenities but offering more solitude. Deer have been spotted walking through camp. Campers with dogs are welcome, and those traveling the broader region can find pet-friendly camping near Mt. Hood National Forest at other nearby sites as well.

RVs are limited to 16 feet, and the access road keeps larger rigs out. Nearby trails support both hiking and mountain biking, and Fivemile Butte Lookout sits less than a mile to the north for campers wanting a different setup. Eight Mile is another close alternative to the northeast.

Great spot!

Originally wanted to stay at a disperse up the way but snow became a factor.

Found this campground and it was perfect! We stayed in spot 4, very spacious! Small creek running between camp sites. Bathroom was across a small bridge and was well maintained. Beautiful trees around but there was a few down around the sites but weren’t in the way. Great views along the drive to get there, no views from the site itself.

Small and sweet campground in Eastern Mt Hood Wilderness

Pebble Ford is a small and sweet campground on the East side of Mt Hood. Not too far from Meadows and Parkdale ... and even not to far for an overnight or weekend away from Portland.

The first come sites are just off of Forest Road 44 >> Dufur Valley Road. There is a main circle of sites (about 3-4 in the main area) and another site on the creek with a separate entrance.

All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. There is a toilet/outhouse, but no running water. There are also a few dispersed sites around the area which are lacking the amenities, but have the bonus of being free!

So Much Room for Activities!

Love this campground. Very quiet and even has a few dispersed camp spots outside the main area. Had some deer walk right through our camp spot while we sat by the fire.

Large Sites, Open Vibrant Area

Small… we're talkin' 3-4 sites… but each site is HUGE! Refreshing to see, and how cool to get here and take over all three with a party. Near some nice trails and gorgeous mountain views. I'd say 3 1/2 stars as it's sorta near the road, but a super busy road it is not. Bring your mountain bike.
