Quiet, green, perfect

Green Canyon campground was the perfect, quiet spot. Not too far away from the main road, but far enough the only noise was the rushing river. Seriously, it was like living in the Calm app! The new camp host, Shawn, was amazing. He had a wonderful dog, Daisy, and had clearly spent a good amount of time making the campground habitable. Everything was clean and ready for campers. Site 14 was a great spot for a rooftop tent as the parking strip was level. I highly recommend this campground for anyone.

Best spot to camp at Mt Hood

One of the best camping experiences I’ve had at Mt Hood. Didn’t have any reservations anywhere and thought it’d be easy to grab a spot at other grounds, not the case this time of year apparently lol. We got pointed towards McNeil and Green Canyon because it’s first come first serve. Gordon (homie that runs the camp site) does his job exceptionally well. The campsites were cleaned up and raked clean. Him and his dog Mika are friendly and great company, he sat with us and hung out for awhile making sure we were comfortable and set for the night w fire wood. Would 5000% recommend this camp site, right on the river and spacious.

Fun for Recreation

Really cool canyon campground. There's some great views to be had of the city of Logan and abundant mountain biking trails throughout the canyon.

The road in is gravel and gets a bit rough in places but nothing too terrible. You have a bathroom near the gate and another up the road a ways but if you're going deeper in the options are limited. I've also found that come Spring things can get a little crowded so be aware.

Sleep here and hike Salmon Creek

Green Canyon is a very easily accessible campground from Portland which can make it hard to get a site on the weekend! It's a great base for doing the Salmon Creek hike or just chilling out by the riverside. Some of the sites are right on the river so you can go to bed listening to the river run.

The campground location right off of HWY 26 on the way up to Mt Hood near Welches makes it convenient to get away for a quick trip, yet really feel like you've escaped the city. There's a subway right at the turn off in case you have a food emergency, and a grocery market not too far away. You're also not too far from Sandy if you need to pick anything up on your way in.

Sites are wooded and have standard fire rings and picnic tables and are decently sized.

Beautiful area

This campground is in a super pretty area. There are 16 campsites all with a picnic table and fire pit. The campsite is super close the the water (you can hear it while sleeping) and most sites have trails the go straight to the water. There are many hiking trails around the area as well.

Great if you want to roll the dice on a non reserved campsite

Beautiful campground without reservations so all spots are potentially available. You need to get here on a weekday pretty much. The river is pretty. The sites are pretty nice but the riverside ones are also on the very very popular trail that passes through the campground. We ended up with a large, flat site with a fire ring. There was no ATT service when I was here, but it is only a few minutes from the grocery store at Welches. The trail that passes through has beautiful old growth trees and is one of the easiest hikes to see old growth near Portland.

Nice spot a little ways off the highway.

We had a good experience staying here. Stayed one night in our way to ride mtn bikes near Mt Hood. We felt safe here. The camp hosts were a nice older couple. It was a beautiful setting with big trees over head and the river just in the other side of the campground from our site. Our dogs enjoyed running in the grass here. We will stop again!

Beautiful campsite near amazing hiking trail.

This was a beautiful, heavily-shaded campsite just off the river and by a great hiking trail. The kids were able to collect rocks near the river and explore and the forest. You could hear the river from site #8, which made for nice background noise. One day we hiked the Salmon River Trail, which was gorgeous. We went south - the trail goes through an old growth forest along the river. It's amazing.
