Don't do it unless you're absolutely 100% sure

This campground has a terribly strict cancellation policy.  I was aware of it when we booked, but we were certain at the time we would be there on the date we chose.

Then - the transmission in our RV went out the first day of our trip.  This occurred 10 full days before our scheduled arrival.  I called her to let her know because we were already stressed over how to get ourselves and all of our stuff home, and my experience with messaging her was that she doesn't answer very promptly.  More on that later.

After answering the phone in a bit of a rude way it seemed that by the end she was empathetic, though she texted me later to ask me to go through an extra step to cancel myself rather than do it for me out of some need to "not have a mark against her."  OK, fine.  I ended up having to write to Hipcamp support because their cancel booking link was broken, and having them do it for me, when we had several other things to worry about.  My hope was she'd cancel and understand with that much time to go and the ugly circumstances we deserved a full refund despite her stated policy.

Not so much.  In fact, we were supposed to get back 50% by the letter of the policy, but she only gave us $20, less than half.

We are accustomed to having people hold a card, and understanding when something beyond our control happens.  This was the only negative cancellation experience we had, and I will never book here again.

Also, be warned - I had to ask her 4 times if they have a dump station because it was left off of the description in both thedyrt as well as hipcamp, to finally find out she does not.

I hope the $27.60 was worth the bad feeling this has left us with.

Hello!

This poster did not book with us. He cancelled and threatened to write a bad review if I did not give him his money back. Out of kindness and understanding that times are tough, all the money Hipcamp allowed for me to refund, I did. He was alerted to this on or near his booking date.

This user will harass and threaten if you do not meet his needs, unfortunately. He called outside of business hours, repeatedly texted and messaged with harassing and threatening remarks.
