Mt. Hood National Forest's Bennett Pass area holds this drive-in site, which functions primarily as a trailhead parking lot with an outhouse. Amenities are minimal. Pets are permitted, and alcohol is allowed on site. Campers passing through on Route 35 sometimes use it as an overnight stop rather than a destination. Those looking into dog-friendly campgrounds near Mt. Hood National Forest will find several more developed options nearby, including Bennett Pass Dispersed — Mt. Hood NF (NF 222) just to the southeast. Open terrain gives sightlines toward the surrounding ridgeline. This spot makes sense for self-sufficient campers who need a no-frills pull-off rather than a full campground experience.
Description
During heavy snow years, snowmobiles will not be able to access the Terrible Treverse area because the area fills with snow due to the high elevations and steep canyon walls. This site is good early in the winter season due to the higher elevation. Follow direction of Meadows parking guards for access to sno-park on busy days. This lot has a five percent grade so good tires are a must. Parking lot has space for 30 vehicles. Trailers are allowed.
