The space
Simple restful Artisan retreat for ONE (or two snugglers ) in a Treehouse located in Full Shade Certified Wildlife Habitat Garden.
**The upper Treehouse Treetop sleeping level is a SMALL one-room space only 64 sq. feet interior plus the upper deck. There is one double bed SET WITH ONLY SHEETS and one blanket plus full electricity which allows for very comfortable sleeping and just hanging out. There is a superfan for warm weather and a small electric heater for cooler evenings…there is NO central air conditioning or heat! The walls do not have insulation in them. Air flows in and out with randomness.
**The Flipside ROOT level area of the TREEHOUSE is much larger with decks Outside Open To The Elements. There is a covered bench area, outside table and chairs, outside lounge chair, outdoor kitchenette (sink, two-burner stove, and basic cooking supplies) and there is a community art project in progress for u to add to if u wish. There is also a CEDAR Outdoor Shower and camping toilet area. (Hot steamy water when temps are above freezing only. For sure NOT in JanFebMarch which is our only winter here in Oklahoma)

**There is a large fire pit that can be lit After Dark, firewood to burn, string lights that fill the yard, Hula hoops, and an adult-sized see-saw!
**Treehouse is located in a residential neighborhood and backs up to a pond where wildlife critters can be viewed as long as you never go over there not ever. Goose ❤Swan love story happening over there.

**The root level decks can not be seen from our house. We can not see into the TREEHOUSE. Private entrance through the side gate into our backyard is where the TREEHOUSE is located.
**Created in 2015, OK Treehouse has grown and changed into what you see today. All is 100% recycled/upcycled: (except for the bed cuz that's gross!) The lumber, paints, screws, tin roof, yard art, kitchen, windows, fabrics, and doors sent to the curb for the trash man, left behind to fill another landfill. All recreated into what it is today. Even all the landscaping!

**No cigarette smoking in the upper treetop level of Treehouse. No parties! Quiet always. No pets as BabyKitty loves and lives here and just might hang out with you the entire time. Please no service animals as BabyKitty has PTSD dog issues.
**Firepits don't light when it has been raining. No there is not a TV. Leaves aren't on trees in the winter. Ladybugs, Bees, and other crawlie or flying things are beautiful creatures. My garden is a polinator-friendly Certified Wildlife Habitat. No, It does not rain inside the treehouse. Yes, we are 5 blocks off of Rt 66 and you will hear the highway cuz we are right in the middle of the city- especially when there are no leaves on the trees. Ducks at the neighbor's pond quack all night long, random dogs bark, singing birds will wake you in the morning and coolers only have food and ice in them if you bring that all yourself.
** If you like the outdoors, mother nature, and all of her creatures – then this is for you. If the sight of a bug has you running and screaming – this is not for you. If you need an air-tight temperature-controlled space – this is not for you. If you want to slow down, breathe in the fresh air – then this is for you.

There is no one in the Treehouse for a full 8 hours before and after each guest to allow for cleaning and additional air flowability. Lake Thunderbird State Park offers a variety of water activities and recreation. The park features two marinas (Calypso Cove Marina and Little River Marina), nine boat ramps and two swim beaches. Accommodations include over 200 RV sites with 30 full hookup sites, restroom facilities and primitive campsites. Lake Thunderbird State Park also features playgrounds, picnic tables and an archery range. A total of ten picnic shelters for groups and eight family shelters, as well as tent and RV campgrounds, can be reserved online.
Both the Lake Thunderbird State Park Discovery Cove Nature Center and equestrian trails are located in the Clear Bay area. The trails, which are open Wednesday through Sunday, cover four miles and feature 12 obstacles. Negative Coggins papers are required, and no on-site stables are available. An array of hiking, mountain biking and nature trails are also available in Lake Thunderbird State Park. Deer archery and waterfowl hunting are available in designated areas during the applicable seasons.
Each campground is secured behind a locked gate. Once you call to make a reservation staff will give you the gate code. Call 405 747 8085 Mon - Fri 8am-4pm. Upon arrival you will need to drive into the main west side park to check in and retrieve your vehicle permits. All vehicles will need park permits, each camping reservation comes with 2 permits (2 vehicle limit). west side directions These campgrounds are suitable for tent camping, hammock camping, but not R.V.'s You can drive down to these sites or you may hike into them. Had friends come to town with an RV and we decided to do a last minute camp out.
After finding out all of the RV and tent camping areas around OKC were at capacity we gave Bell Cow Lake a shot and we were not disappointed. We stayed in Camp Area B, Friday night there were a handful of RV spots still available and we were the only tent campers. Saturday a few more tent campers arrived but there was still open sites between us.
Our friends in the RV stayed in RV site 1 and we stayed directly across from them in tent site 3. There was some small trash, cigarette butts and such around the site, cans in the fire ring adjacent to us (site 2) but over all it was a nice spot with ample room to put tents.
The tent area is on the water with water access through the grass along the shoreline. Swimming was great with a sand bottom once you got past the grass along the shoreline. There were tons of fish hitting the surface in the evening but I was unable to catch any. Each tent site had a table but it either had a fire ring or a grille (alternating) it would have been preferable if each site had both.
The bathrooms weren't the cleanest but were what I would probably expect for a camp ground owned by a smaller city.
Bell Cow lake may become one of our go to places as it is still within an easy drive from OKC and half the price of the next closest lake to camp at (Lake Arcadia).
Tent camping is $10 a night, RV is $20.
One of the only things we did not like was with the campsite being 2 miles from I-44 you could hear the highway traffic all night and there was not fire wood available to gather or purchase (perhaps in town) so though it is generally frowned upon to bring your own you won't have a fire otherwise.

This is a tent camping area only state park that is on the banks of Lake Thunderbird. There all types of water sport activities are at the lake; there is a marina available on the lake and all other services and gods are available within a thirty minute drive. Being a tent camping area only, there is typically not as much pressure and tent campers get to have more of a "quiet" setting. The area experiences heavy use during holiday weekends and the first weekends of summer but typically drops off after that time. Summer temperatures will be hot and humid so prepare to enjoy the water.

In a pleasant change of pace for camping I pulled into this location to check out the options which exist in this region for camping in a tent. Wow was a pleased when I discovered that this location was designed for tents only!!
The pros were great water access, flush toilets, great parking and access to a self pay station. The cons, completely primitive and the roadway is pretty close to the camping area.
This location is maintained by the City of Guthrie. They have nice parking lot and boat ramp at this location in addition to a fishing pier. A lot of people choose to pull off into the zone deemed camping however for a more shaded coverage when fishing. With that being said there is still plenty of room to have you own little piece of comfort.
You are supposed to park and walk in the 100 yards to the campsites however I did notice that locals drive into this area. It is pretty open and the main concern is that you pay for day use or overnight uses.
There are some scattered picnic tables and trash cans however only one are which has bbq grills and this are is pretty removed from the designated camping zone.
I noticed when I was visiting a lot of traffic down the access road which wasn’t loud really but could be distracting if trying to relax. The traffic was mainly from the residential area which also surrounds the lake.
Overall I really liked this area for day use but am not completely sold on it as a camping area.

Stayed in site 27 for one night passing through. Last minute stop and several sites available. Beautiful sunrise and sunset over the lake. Sites close together and a bit loud, but we were there on a Saturday night. Walk-in tent sites looked great.
GuideCampground C area offers many pull through RV sites and some back-in RV sites, all with electric & water hook ups. There is also equestrian RV sites with pens, tent camping with shared water spigots, primitive tent camping and a dump station. There are miles of equestrian trails. Hiked down one and the trail was very peaceful and beautiful. It had recently rained a lot, so I had a thick layer of red mud on my shoes from the hike, but glad I hiked it. There are bathrooms with showers, a swim beach, a volleyball court, pavilions, a boat ramp, and plenty of wildlife. Lake is calm & shallow, so it is best for small boats and kayaks. There were plenty of flies due to the time of year and the presence of horses, so a good fly swatter and a fly trap is recommended. Found a small cemetery on the drive to the campsite with some very old grave sites. In all, it was a great place to escape from the real world and relax.

ScoutReally nice campground, but the campers themselves gave a very strange vibe. In the area where there is tent camping there appeared to be people who were possibly living there full time. One car was broken down and crashed, another had tickets, and one camper had a cot, lots of stuff strewn about, no tent, and no car. One car was full to the brim with stuff. Honestly, we didn’t even end up staying here because we got such weird vibes.

Mustang run isn’t to far from Oklahoma City off I-40 and is locally owned. Also close to State fair. It is at the end of a lane next to a hotel. You can hear lots of traffic from the interstate. It has 2 dog runs,storm shelters,pool,playground, laundry, and nice clubhouse. So everything you might need. There are pull through sites and back in. The sites are concrete so level. They are full hook ups with cable and wi-fi. There are no tent sites here. The nightly rate is $49 but they do except Good Sam discount. They also have weekly and monthly rates.

Travelersome of the sites are tent sites with no area to pull up to with a car. you have to park in a lot. and they tell you you can’t stay in your van unless you’re in an RV site. to avoid this just stay in a pull up tent spot. $16 is a lot a night for the basic spots. think i saw a cougar so be mindful at night. hot af but the lake is cooling. good shade. bathrooms and showers have AC!

Just did a quick overnight stop here. The site is bordered by a moderately busy 4 lane road which is why I gave it 4 vs 5 stars.
I was in a tent site but had easy access to electric and water. I hosted a Zoom meeting from the picnic table with no issues over the KOA Wifi.
As is typical with KOA and most RV campgrounds, very closely packed sites.

King Snake on Arcadia Lake is my go-to site for a quick getaway. If I have a free weekend and the weather is nice I pack my tent and head out. The park is large and spread out. A LOT of Rv's and boats in the main parts of the park but I prefer King Snake for the tent camping. No rv's, limited traffic, and a short walk to a lightly-used bathroom. The sites are large enough for 2 large tents. Tables, hooks, and fire pits in each. Close enough to the city to get anything you may have forgotten to pack. Also, the eastend of the lake is quiet and calm, away from the boats.

Lake Thunderbird is always a go to fun spot! We spend most summer days here swimming and relaxing. There are so many great spots for putting up a hammock and enjoying the great outdoors. We stayed at Hog Creek Campground for our Questival 2017 challenges at a tent site. There were a ton of deer, fox, squirrels, and other wildlife to help us complete our quest challenges. The park ranger was very helpful in finding us a last minute late night camp site.
LegendWas passing through the area and needed a place to land since I couldn’t find any BLM out this way. I paid $16 for a tent site at Hog campground, which had a fire ring and picnic table. Pulled in at night so it took me a while to find it but all tables note the campsite which helped. Bathrooms were meh, but worked. Didn’t use the showers but they aren’t free. They are quarter showers. Clean site and felt safe. Had 2 bars of LTE AT&T service.

Showers and toilets were under construction so a car ride was required to reach the next closest. Tent sites were overgrown with grass and ticks were abundant. Signage was not good. Good luck finding your site if you arrive after dark. Lots of traffic once it got dark with people circling to look for their sites. Boat traffic in the lake plays loud music late into the evening. Voices carry throughout the campground. Be aware that the park address might be far from your camp site....check your area before plotting your course.

Pool, pedal carts, jumping pillow, and a playground for the kids! Super friendly staff. If you need full hook ups, those are basically a parking lot. However, there’s some really nice shaded electric/water sites for RVs and tent sites. The bathrooms are super nice and clean. Pond has great crappie fishing too! It’s way less crowded than the state parks, and it’s nice place to spend a weekend away. They have little cabins that have beautiful, shaded outside areas (fire pits, porch swings, etc) and they’re cheap to rent. We’re not typically “KOA” type campers, but we really enjoy this place.

Nothing special but nothing wrong with it. My wife found it a bit boring but she isn't as into fishing as I am. She just enjoyed the water. She went swimming and said the water was nice. There were some people skiing on the lake. I had the best luck for bass in a little inlet near McCloud Rd. There is a playground and picnic pavilion which would be good for families. The areas around the lakes are wooded and pretty natural.

LegendWe had a great stay in Lake Thunderbird State Park near Norman Oklahoma. The park has 11 campground areas situated around the 6000 acre centerpiece lake with many tent, RV sites and some of those have full hook up; our choice was the Little Ax campground on the southern end just off Oklahoma 9. In addition to water activities the park offers hunting, horse rental and boarding, equestrian trails, hiking, mountain biking, nature trails, a nature center, and an archery range. Our lakefront site#37 was nice and shaded with a gentle lake breeze offering a concrete pad, water, 30/15 amp electric, concrete table, lantern holder, fire ring and grill at site. The campground has an entry station, camp host, picnic shelters, playground, bathhouse and laundry, beach area, common fire pit, Verizon 4 bars, dump station, trash receptacles, interior roads are paved, with many sites waterfront. RV sites are close quarters. Tent sites are amazing...pads, concrete table, fire ring, grill, water spigot dispersed, waterfront sites. The town of Norman has all the amenities: shopping, dining, groceries, fuel and yes, Walmart. The area is home to local wineries and breweries and also the hometown to actor James Garner. WARNING: Oklahoma State Parks charge a daily parking fee per vehicle of$10 in addition to the camping fee and they enforce it...just saying from experience...read the information carefully! 13101 Alameda Dr, Norman, OK 73026 GPS- 35.234940,-97.219224 for the Little Ax Campground.

It is a nice little campground that has R.V. camping and tent camping. We like camping here because the campsite is next to the shore. There are some nice camping spots under shade trees. When you want to cool off you can just walk from your campsite to the water and get in and cool off. However don't wear white when you go swimming because after you go swimming white cloths turn orange. It does have a swim beach but we like to swim privately at camp. The fishing is pretty good. There is a playground and restrooms with showers. They only have about 25 campsites that are 1st come 1st serve. Getting a campsite near holidays like the 4th of July is almost impossible unless you go days early to get a spot. The campsites have picnic tables, grills and a fire ring. They also have trails for riding horses. Camping with electric is $18.00 Senior citizens (55 and up) and disabled citizens is $15.00 Primitive camping is$8.00

Avid tent camper here, camped from California to South Carolina. Wanted to spend the weekend close to home. And honestly just embarrassed to be from Oklahoma City with the way Thunderbird was. Stayed at Little Sandy 17. First every campsite we reserved had people on them so we had to kick people off multiple sites so we could set up. The bathrooms were a disgrace. Even after being “cleaned”. Will never go back to this place.

GuideHadn't been to Lake Thunderbird since I was a kid (40+ years ago) and all I could remember is that we always called it Lake Dirtybird because of the water. As far as that is concerned nothing has really changed. Typical central Oklahoma red water.
We stayed a couple of nights at Little Sandy Campground. There weren't any full hookups and we had to stay at a spot that was water and electric only ... and boy were we glad. The full hookup sites in the next campground over -- Hickory Hill -- were packed in like sardines. Our site on the upper loop of Little Sandy was away from all the hubub but also away from the water, so there was that. If you don't mind being right up against the next camper, Hickory Hill has some full hookup sites right on the water. However, the upper loop of Little Sandy was nice with all the trees and the better-spaced sites. In my opinion spot 36 is the best one. No one can camp behind you and there's a lot of space to the south. The dump site it up on the main road about a quarter of mile north from the campground entrance and easily accessible.
We stayed the first weekend of May 2020 ... the first weekend some of the COVID-19 restrictions were lifted. The place was PACKED, especially with tent campers. No judgment, just saying there were a lot of them. It was tough finding a path to the water without walking through someone's campsite. The water pressure was pretty low at the site and my guess it was due to all the sites being in use.
All in all it was a nice weekend, but I've stayed at nicer and quieter places.
