Nice campground
Really clean bathrooms. Spots are small and tight so bigger rigs I’d be cautious. Really nice lake views.

During the past five years, we've stayed at this park at least six times. It's a good overnight stopping point as we head back to Texas, with easy access from the highway and a nice dog park. If you travel with pets, then you know why that's important.
All the park staff we have ever dealt with were very friendly and helpful. The road from the highway to the park is easy to navigate for any size rig. The same inside the park; it's well-marked and easy to navigate. Even though it's close to the highway, you really won't hear much traffic noise, especially if you're at the rear of the park away from the roadway.
We were assigned to pull-through site number E1 with a concrete pad that is level from side to side. Power, Water, and Sewer were all conveniently located, and the power supply had no issues at all. We use a power management system, and all electrical parameters were spot on during our stay. Water pressure was very good, and the in-ground sewer connection was conveniently located.
NOTE: We always request space E1 because it is level, has a nice-sized shade tree that blocks the afternoon sun, and is close to the bathrooms, showers, pool, and laundry room. I've included several aerial photos of the park, and you will see that it is pretty full. Probably 90% of those staying here are full-time or seasonal. Row E is usually left open for travelers, so you might want to request a site on that row, as they are pretty much level. Even though the park has mostly full-time residents, it is nice, quiet, and well maintained. If it wasn't, we wouldn't continually stay here.
The bathrooms, showers, laundry room, and pool area are all located in one location at the front of Row E and are clean and well maintained with secure door and gate codes. Wi-Fi, Satellite, Cable, and OTA: We were able to get AT&T 5G with 3 bars. AT&T achieved 567 Mbps down and 6.43 Mbps up. Satellite reception should not be an issue at most sites, and if you do need totally clear access for satellite reception, there are sites available with no trees. We were able to get 30 OTA stations available, and they all had great reception with clear HD pictures. Cable and Wi-Fi were not available.
Dog Park: They have a very nice fenced-in park that is always in great condition. The park is divided for big and small dogs, and the large-dog area is very large with lots of tree coverage. They also provide doggie bags and a trash can.
Amenities: Lots of items are listed on their website, and you are only a few miles from town, where you can find plenty of stores and restaurants. Also, this is a Good Sam Park, so if you're a member, you'll get a discount if you let them know. Summary: A great place for an overnight stay, and I would not hesitate to recommend it- enjoy your stay!
This was a great stay with great spots for both smaller RV, tents & travel trailers. I loved this spot plus it was free. There are restrooms but no showers. First come first serve since there is no office or website to book! There was not many people when we went March-April and weather was nice. I also got to use my generator.
Stayed in the Equestrian campground with access to miles and miles of trails. It was wonderful and some of the best hiking I have done in quite a while. The hikes along the lake edges were great. There are horse trails id have loved to have done but it was time to move on. Of all the campgrounds, and there are many in the park, the Equestrian is the best if you want to hike.
Very disappointed in Marval Resort. The manager is very unprofessional. We have been going there since 2019 for a family reunion. This year was 59th reunion. I get a phone call on July 7, 2025 and was told we would not be welcomed back and when I asked why the manager could not tell me why. All that she said was several reasons. If it was such a big issue, she should have come to me or someone else and addressed the issue face to face instead of waiting until we left. My cousin had called multiply times to try and get this worked out and she would never speak or call back. When no response to phone calls she was emailed and finally responded to an email. The manager didn’t even have the decency for the closing signature on the email. It’s a shame that Marval Resort has someone like this running their resort. Very poor communication. Instead of coming to my camp spot talking to me about some cars parked on the grass and gravel in front of our camp spot out of the way of others she calls me in the middle of a big gathering and tells me they need to be moved because it rained that morning and the grass was wet. No, the grassy lawn area was dry in the heat of the afternoon day. There are so many staff members driving around on their golf carts and not a word was said. She was on her golf cart right by us and could not come face to face and talk about the issue. Now, that’s pretty unprofessional. We have 96 and 86 year old aunts and some others with walking issues. That’s why cars were there. Family was coming from their cabins or campers to the central area for family gathering. And as far as the pavilion parking that we paid money to rent. Again, for some elders and a few trucks hauling fish fry supplies. You booked a band that was playing on the stage right by the pavilion(that we paid for) and people could not communicate very well due to loud music. This also happened last year as well. So, you the manager don’t know who all the cars belong to. They could have been the bands or other guest not in our family. We have a large group that stayed there for 6 years in campers or cabins and spent lots of money there. There is a lot of issues the manager needs to take care of and get off her high horse. I thought this place is supposed to be family oriented. I will miss seeing Wayne(maintenance gentleman) there with his smiling face. He is such a friendly man. And one more thing, always talking about all the improvements they’re working on or going to do. It’s been the same for 6 years now.
This park offers full hookup sites and has many hiking trails. In October, they do trick or treating every weekend - which is fun!
Friendly helpful staff. Decent lots. Many are shaded. Several things for kids including a pool.
Showers need cleaning and water pressure is very poor
Elephant rock has beautiful breathtaking views. Especially sunsets and rises. Great hiking area. Awesome senary. Photogenic area, to say the least! If 6 in the area definitely stop by and see it! There's really a rock that looks like an elephant, too! Kid friendly area. Right up highway ten in tahlequah.
Glamping in Gore, Oklahoma centers around the Illinois River and Lake Tenkiller, where the landscape features limestone bluffs rising 250-300 feet above the water. The area's climate remains mild year-round with average summer temperatures in the mid-80s F, but campsites at higher elevations can experience stronger winds. Most campgrounds operate March through November, with reduced amenities during winter months.
Fishing docks year-round: Greenleaf State Park Campground maintains heated fishing docks accessible throughout winter. "The fishing form the dock is fruitful. From a boat even better," notes ShaneB, who appreciates that the park's location makes it "a great escape not far from Tulsa."
Miniature golf and recreation: While some courses need maintenance, families enjoy the variety of activities. "We had a blast tent camping here on Labor Day Weekend. Beautiful park with grassy tent sites. Nice hiking trail... There is a mini golf course too," shares Richard, who particularly enjoyed the splash pad at Greenleaf.
Wildlife observation: The natural setting attracts diverse wildlife year-round. "Animals! Turtles, deer that like to be petted, frogs croaking at night, owls talking, beavers splashing in the lake and turkeys eating snakes!" exclaims Julie O. at Greenleaf State Park, highlighting the unexpected wildlife encounters possible.
Scuba diving Lake Tenkiller: Chicken Creek provides access to Lake Tenkiller's clear waters where divers can explore underwater structures. "Lake Tenkiller is an amazing location to scuba dive. Its waters are clear and cool from a distance of 8 to 28 feet. A diver will have the opportunity to investigate a sunken airplane fuselage, school bus, helicopter and two boats," explains N I.
Off-season tranquility: Brooken Cove Campground offers quieter experiences outside peak times. "We stayed here for only one night but will definitely be back. Nice campsites with room between sites. Most sites have lake views and there is alit of access to the lake," reports Angela, who appreciated the lake views and spacing between sites.
Waterfront camping: Many sites offer direct water access. "We had a great spot located 200 yards from the lake. Also had the boat dock just on the other side of us. Great place to stay, friendly staff! Had a picnic table, grill and a covered area to sit at as well," shares Ashley T. about her stay at Chicken Creek.
Affordable options: Wahoo Bay offers budget-friendly stays. "I can see the stars and the moon while hearing deer run through the woods, birds splashing in the water and coyotes howling. 12 miles/20 minutes to town for gas, groceries, laundry, etc. Minimal traffic mid-January, mostly boats and fishermen. Vault toilet is clean and water spigots are available and turned on. $10/night," reports Tim O.
Seasonal events: Halloween weekends offer special activities for families. "This park offers full hookup sites and has many hiking trails. In October, they do trick or treating every weekend - which is fun!" mentions Jenny about Sequoyah State Park.
Water levels affect campsites: Seasonal flooding can impact camping areas. "When we visited it had recently flooded and the trails were covered. It is a decent family park with several different areas to camp," explains Tom K. about Sequoyah State Park, noting that despite this, the park offered enough alternatives.
Limited reservations at some locations: First-come, first-served policies exist at several campgrounds. "Peak Season April 01 to September 30. First-come, First-served October 01 to November 30," notes N I. about Chicken Creek's reservation policy.
Bathroom facilities vary widely: Quality ranges significantly between campgrounds. "The bathroom doubles as shower, clean, up kept," reports Shawn K. about Brooken Cove, while others like Michelle W. found facilities at Brewers Bend less appealing: "Beautiful peaceful place, but the shared bathroom was gross!"
Quiet hours and gate closures: Some parks enforce strict schedules. "Check-out time: 3:00 pm. Check-in time: 6:00 pm. Quiet hours: 10:00 pm-6:00 am. Entrance gate will be closed during this time," explains N I. about Chicken Creek's operations.
Primitive options with amenities: Basic sites often include unexpected comforts. "The trails at greenleaf are well maintained and marked. Their primitive camping is accessible and well kept. I enjoy the size of the park it is small and offers a lot of room for exploring. Never experienced a large crowd here..which is preferable for me," shares Cody L. about Greenleaf State Park.
Splash pad alternatives: Water recreation beyond lakes attracts families. "The absolute best part of this park is the splash pad. It was the best splash pad we've been too. They had a cool slide and we had a blast," enthuses Richard about Greenleaf's facilities.
Winter camping preparation: Marval Camping Resort offers year-round glamping with adequate amenities for colder months. "This place has everything, movie theater, horse riding, a train that goes around the park, golf carts, tons of activities for the entire family... Swimming pool and all... We go every chance we get, my kids love it," reports Candy U.
Avoid holiday crowds: Popular weekends can affect experience quality. "We really wanted to like this place. Everyone raves about it. The sites are close together, it was beyond crowded (my son couldn't even ride his bike because of the constant amount of cars)," warns Brittany J. about Marval Resort during a busy period.
Site selection matters: Not all sites accommodate larger rigs. "Our campsite, #33, was perched on top of a hill, accessible by a fairly long, steep incline. The site is not level and would be appropriate only for shorter RVs," cautions Jeanette W. about Gentry Creek Landing.
Hookup variations: Electric options differ between campgrounds. "Only seven 50 amp spots and no sewer sites but the campground is great," advises Mark J. about Chicken Creek, highlighting the importance of checking specific hookup availability.
Extended-stay options: Some sites allow longer stays without charge. "You can stay up to 14 days for free at this location," notes UnnamedAdventures about Wahoo Bay, making it ideal for RVers on extended trips.
Water access considerations: Many share water hookups between sites. "In our site we needed 50 ft of water hose and I would suggest bringing a 'y' water connector," advises Kassi S. about Greenleaf State Park, highlighting practical equipment needs for RVers.
