## Overview

Located on beautiful Skiatook Lake in northeast Oklahoma, Tall Chief Cove is one of the most popular campgrounds in the region.   
  
The campground has a variety of sites along the forested lakeshore, and visitors can enjoy boating, hiking, swimming, picnicking and fishing from the facility.

## Recreation

Families enjoy the convenience of this facility's swim beach, picnic areas, nature trail, playground and educational programs.   
  
Sport fishing for largemouth bass, black and white crappie, channel catfish and several species of sunfish offers anglers many hours of enjoyment on the lake.   
  
About 6,000 acres of public land in the lake area are open to hunters wishing to pursue whitetail, quail, rabbit and squirrel. 

## Facilities

Tall Chief Cove offers 50 individual sites with electric hookups and one group picnic shelter for day use that can host up to 200 people. All guests with reservations can utilize our professional style volley ball court, basketball court, disc golf course, or horseshoe pits. The campground provides covered picnic tables, restrooms and showers.

## Natural Features

Gentle rolling hills of blackjack and post oak trees intersperse with tall grass prairie around the glistening lake. The shoreline is accentuated by steep picturesque bluffs which offer views of the water.

Appalachia Bay

Heyburn Park features 47 campsites, a 2 lane boat ramp, courtesy dock, playground, 2 restroom/shower facilities, 2 group shelters, and a large swim beach with picnic tables. Recreation Boating, water skiing and fishing are all popular activities on Heyburn Lake. Common catches include crappie, bass and catfish. During hunting season, project lands provide opportunities for waterfowl and whitetail deer. Heyburn Public Hunting Area covers more than 6,000 acres of project lands and provides hunting opportunities for squirrel, rabbit, quail, waterfowl and wild turkey. Facilities The campground has 46 campsites with water and electric hookups, some of which have 50 amp service. Two group shelters, one with 50 amp camping sites and one day-use shelter by the swim beach, are available. Natural Features Heyburn lies in a picturesque setting of grasslands and gently sloping, sandstone hills covered with oak trees and scattered with hickory, ash, elm and cottonwood. In the spring, flowering wild plum and redbud trees add color to the soft, green landscape. Nearby Attractions Visitors can explore the various parks of Heyburn Lake including Sunset Bay, Overlook and Sheppard Point. Keystone Lake lies about 25 miles to the north and Tulsa is less than 30 miles northeast. ADA Access: N

Heyburn Park

## Overview

Washington Irving South is located on the Arkansas arm of Keystone Lake, just 30 minutes from Tulsa. In Washington Irving's book, "A Tour of the Prairies," he forged the Arkansas River around the area. The lake's blue-green water, beautiful natural surroundings and wide variety of recreational opportunities make it a popular location for year-round fun.

## Recreation

Keystone Lake is a prime location for boating, water skiing, swimming and fishing. The lake is noted for its striped, sand, black and smallmouth bass, crappie and catfish. Downstream fisheries are accessible at nearby Whitewater and Brush Creek Parks.  
  
The park contains a boat ramp, dock, playground, swimming beach and a one-mile nature trail.

## Facilities

This well-shaded campground is separated into three loops with a total of 16 reservable campsites, many with water and electric hookups. Flush and pit toilets, showers, drinking water and a dump station are provided.

## Natural Features

Keystone Lake is settled into many small valleys and contains almost 26,000 surface acres. Its 330 miles of shoreline are covered with bottomland timber and post oak, blackjack oak and prairie fields, which provide habitat for a variety of wildlife, including squirrel, rabbit, quail, dove and waterfowl. 

## Nearby Attractions

The 400-acre Appalachia Bay Recreation Area, locally referred to as Motorcycle Island, is just 10 minutes from the campground and is popular with off-road vehicle enthusiasts. Sandy trails crisscross the area's beaches and wooded sections. Whitewater Park is an 80-acre off-road vehicle area next to the dam, about 15 minutes from the campground.

## Overview

Hawthorn Bluff is located on Oologah Lake in northeastern Oklahoma, less than 30 miles from Tulsa.   
  
The lake provides an ideal getaway for fishing, boating, picnicking and camping. Prevailing winds make Oologah one of the most popular lakes in the area for sailing.

## Recreation

Oologah Lake is a prime location for boating, sailing, water skiing and swimming. Several recreation areas with boat ramps and docks are scattered around the lake, including at Hawthorn Bluff.  
  
Fishing is a very popular activity. Black bass, crappie, paddlefish, channel and blue catfish, walleye and hybrid striped bass are the primary sport species found in the lake. Young anglers love the Kid's Sun, Fun and Fishing Derby Day held annually in June.  
  
The forested hills of the Oologah Wildlife Management Area provide excellent hunting opportunities, with nearly 13,000 acres open to the public.

## Facilities

This large campground offers numerous campsites, many of which have 30-amp electric hookups. Two group day-use picnic shelters are available, as is a unique amphitheater with a gazebo that is ideal for ceremonies and weddings. The group facilities are Accessible and accommodate up to 100 guests each.  
  
Flush and pit toilets, showers and a dump station are provided. A playground and interpretive nature trail are located within the campground.

## Natural Features

Oologah Lake sits on the Verdigris River with a surface area of nearly 30,000 acres. Over 200 miles of shoreline are dominated by old-growth post oak and blackjack oak forests, which provide habitat for a variety of wildlife and birds, including deer, turkey, rabbits, quail, squirrels, ducks, geese and doves. 

## Nearby Attractions

Dog Iron Ranch, the birthplace of Will Rogers, is nearby. The ranch is a living history museum featuring Rogers' two-story post-Civil War birth home, educational programs, picnic areas and a 400-acre pasture on the lake shore with Texas Longhorn cattle and other livestock. The ranch is open year-round.

Oaklake Trails Naturist Park (Nudist)

Sheppard Point is an excellent destination for access to Oklahoma's Heyburn Lake and taking advantage of hiking and sightseeing on the multi-use nature trail. Sheppard Point offers a handful of equestrian-friendly sites where horses can be kept behind the sites on tether poles, with direct access to the trail system. Recreation Picnicking, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, water skiing, boating, swimming are some of the favorite activities at Heyburn Lake. Anglers catch catfish, bass and crappie while hunters seek white-tailed deer and wild turkey. Facilities Sheppard Point has a selection of both tent and RV campsites. Perks include hot showers, a boat ramp, playground, swim beach and multi-use trail to the perks. Group picnic shelters are available as well. Natural Features Heyburn Lake lies in the Sandstone Hills of the Osage Section of Oklahoma's central lowlands. The picturesque setting of grasslands and gently sloping, wooded hills, provides a stunning backdrop for recreation in the area. The area is mostly forested with oaks, blackjack, and the occasional hickory, ash, elm or cottonwood tree. In spring, flowering wild plum and redbud trees add color to the soft, green landscape.
