      Lebanon-Cincinnati NE KOA

      Friendly and quiet

There are a lot of people here, but even during the day we hardly hear any loud noises coming from any of the other campers. Walking the property (as much as I can with my cane) everyone is so friendly. The grounds are kept very clean. The people from the office actually do garbage pick-up anytime during office hours! Just place your trash bag/ other items to be thrown away at the front of your site and they take it away. They even have recycling, but you have to take that up yourself. They won't just tell you where it is, they will show you. I haven't been to a KOA site in 15 years and the one I went to was not a great experience, but I highly recommend staying here if you're passing through Cincinnati.

      Rocky Fork State Park Campground

Been coming here since I was a kid.

Always great time here. The upper part has more wooden areas then the lower part. But those spot are close to the lake. They a great playground. They have a big camp store with a putt putt, big lake we’re boating, fishing and kayaking. Multiple shower houses very clean kept up. Nice campground to ride bikes around.

      Deer Haven

      Rough Access

We made reservations to stay here for 3 nights and missed the first night due to damaging weather nearby, (tornadoes in Cincinnati.) On day two when we arrived we found the access driveway to be deeply creviced from washout conditions. We straddled the crevices on the uphill drive but we were unable to make the 90° narrow access to the site, spinning out in the wet grass on multiple tries.

The only option for exit is to back down the driveway, which in our MB Cruiser (8,000+ lbs) was challenging.

The host is extremely communicative and a pleasure to chat with pre-arrival and completely understanding of our dilemma. We chose not to stay the remaining nights.

Had the weather been favorable, access may have been much easier and is definitely passable for car, truck or small van camping. If your turning radius is long, reserve site #1 which may have been passable for us but we did not attempt because that is not what we had reserved, but the host later offered to us. Site #1 is the lower grassy flat with much wider access.

Check with host about condition of driveway and entry before reserving.

      Dayton KOA Holiday

      Not for class B vans

Arrived after 7:00 p.m. to find an envelope with my campsite number of 78 and directions. The site was a tiny back in site that was so slanted downward that you had to go in head first to keep your head level with or above your feet. Of course, that puts the utilities on the wrong side of the van. There were other sites that were appropriate and were empty and after looking around I believe number 78 is the worst site in the whole facility.

      Paint Creek State Park Campground

      Best camping store

Nice park, when we were there only half park was open( early in season). Great camp store. Nice shower rooms. Hilly. Some stop around us was sloped. But we did love the one with a deck, but your fire ring was down a hill.

    Guide to Loveland

Cabin options near Loveland, Ohio range from rustic to modern designs with varying levels of amenities. Sites are typically located within 30 minutes of town, situated in wooded settings that experience four distinct seasons. Elevation in the region averages 700-900 feet, with cabins typically positioned on gently rolling terrain rather than steep hillsides.

    What to do

River adventures: 3-hour trips on Little Miami River from Morgan's Riverside Campground provide kayak and canoe rentals for $67 for two people. "Morgan's is amazing! They have been around for a few generations and provide canoeing, rafting, and kayaking at different trip lengths for a great price," notes Carolyn M.

Hiking trails: Stonelick State Park features wooded paths with interpretive nature signs. "Despite the rain and the wind we had a great time! Our spot was right next to a small Pollinator trail that lead to the water," shares Jess H. The paths are typically under 2 miles and rated easy to moderate.

Biking access: Explore the Little Miami Scenic Trail near Olive Branch Campground. "The campground was only about three miles from a trailhead on the Little Miami Scenic Trail," explains Cindy B. This paved trail connects to a larger 78-mile network running from Springfield to Cincinnati.

    What campers like

Spacious sites: Large, level pads at Cowan Lake State Park Campground provide ample room for setup. "We stayed in Site 78. The lot was VERY large and well maintained. The asphalt pad was decently level; a picnic table and fire ring were included," reports Kim H.

Fishing opportunities: Multiple dedicated areas around camp lakes yield good catches. "Good place to fish for bluegill and catfish. Awesome place to swim during daytime hours, just remember to use caution and don't go out of designated area," advises Lisa S. at Stonelick State Park.

Internet connectivity: Surprisingly good coverage even in more remote locations. "Internet here on t-moble 5G home is 90Mbps down and 6 to 20Mbps up. Verizon on cellphone, only 10Mbs down, 1-3Mbps up. ATT cellphones are similar to Verizon," reports Johnothan R. at Cowan Lake.

    What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Many cabins remain open year-round, though amenities may be limited during winter months. "We spent 3 nights here for our maiden voyage as we picked up a new travel trailer from their local dealer," mentions Rita J. who visited Winton Woods Campground during shoulder season.

Privacy variations: Site spacing differs significantly between campgrounds. "Sites are very close. This time we are right next to the shower/Bath house with bright lights basking our site with unwanted light all night long," explains John P. about Olive Branch Campground.

Bathroom conditions: Cleanliness varies by season and facility. "The bathrooms are clean, with private combined shower/dressing stalls," notes Anne H. about Winton Woods, while another camper observed, "First night the shower house STUNK but then the next day it smelled fine while our closest bathrooms were out of order."

    Tips for camping with families

Playground options: Multiple age-appropriate areas at Camp Cedar provide entertainment for younger children. "A campground that has full hookups and really neat cabins. The campground was just completed Aug 2021. There are no big trees and lots are on top of one another. However, if this doesn't bother you it's really close to the Kings Island Amusement Park and also has a nice pool and activities," shares Elana C.

Bike-friendly campgrounds: Paved paths make bringing kids' bikes worthwhile. "Small enough to let my kids roam a bit on their bikes and feel comfortable not having eyes on them 24/7," explains Jason L. about Stonelick State Park.

Cabin size considerations: Space varies considerably between locations. "We are very new to camping. The staff here and all of the campers that we have met has been extremely helpful and kind to the point of the owners father leveling our travel trailer for us because we couldn't get it right," notes Candace H. about Cozy-Dale Campground, where staff assistance can help new cabin campers.

    Tips from RVers

Level pads: Check site descriptions before booking cabins that accommodate RVs. "Very nice campground inside the urban loop in Cincinnati. Close to everything, yet quiet and secluded camping experience. Limited number of full hook-up spots - more would make this and even better site," explains Kenneth D. about Winton Woods.

Off-season availability: Call ahead for cabin openings. "We camped at site 35 and it was very slopey, our levelers only helped a little," reports Kara S. at Stonelick State Park, highlighting the importance of selecting appropriate sites.

Water access considerations: Proximity to rivers requires vigilance. "We were a little nervous as the cabin is so close the river. This is part of the charm but when you have a 3 year old in your group then it is smart to keep an extra sharp eye on the kiddo as the river is a huge draw," cautions a visitor to Morgan's Canoe and Outdoor Adventure.
