Nice family friendly area

Very nice grounds, lots of paved pathways for bike riding, skateboarding, ect.. Air conditioned shower houses. Very nice size spaces, we were in a full hookup site.

Good place

We enjoyed our stay here. Just an fyi to others- it rained quite a bit and many of the sites got flooded. The ground here doesn't drain well.

Some good trails here. The lake wasn't so great for swimming, too many geese. The campground has been recently renovated with newly paved roads &…

Great campground, amazing short hikes

We absolutely loved our time here, will be back again!!

We stayed at a large corner site adjacent the playground in the back.  It was very quiet and wooded.  We did have the community water spigot at our site, but it wasn't a problem at all (and very handy for us).  The pool was fantastic, with…

I will return

It was better than decent😀. The bathrooms and bathhouse were clean .. one broken shower head but the other three were functional. Clean hot water without an odor. The general store employee (SANDY) was everything and exceptional. She went over and waaayyy beyond to help us as we were new to the…

Nice campground located around lots of things to do

Nice large campground with a fire pit and picnic table at each site. Camp site was decently sized though on a corner so can get a little busy. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Children’s play area was very nice - my kids loved playing on the equipment. Conveniently located near lots of hiking and…

Nice but small!

The sites in the park are nice but small. There are no full hookup sites for those with bigger campers. The park has plenty to do, swimming at the beach or lodge pool, frisbee golf, horseback riding, hiking, boating, etc. Most sites have shade and hedge roe between your neighbors which is nice.…

Would totally go back

While I will agree the campsites are not large and they are close together you don’t feel that way once you get settled. There’s plenty for families to do and the hosts are very nice. The bathrooms are clean but not luxurious. There are decent showers as well. Everything is well marked except for…

Clean, tons of amenities

Great for families who need lots of entertainment. There was showers and washing machine, general store, movie night, playgrounds and more. We stayed in the S loop which is for tent campers which was lower fidelity than the other loops. Our site didn’t have a table, it had been moved to another…

Big Improvements Happening

Cowan Lake State Park is near Wilmington, Ohio and they have been making a lot of improvements to the park.  It is a great location between Cincinnati and Columbus with easy access from the highway.  This is good if you want to meet with friends somewhat in between.  It isn't too close to the…

  • Playground and Gaga pit for the kits to play in near the commissary.
  • We picked the campsite closest to the lake as in my opinion it has the best view and trees to hammock from while looking at the lake.
  • Nice sidewalk to the beach and bathroom. Keep in mind it is steep.

Nice for a night

Found this campground purely by chance. My first visit. Driving on my way south. Checked in late evening would be out early. Was peaceful, spots were spaced out well. Was across from the showers, which was nice. Staff was nice after they realized I actually paid for my site. Zero cell reception but…

Great state park facilities

The shower houses are pretty nice for a state park, and the sites, while some can be a bit difficult to navigate with hills, are pretty spacious. There are a lot of good shady spots to pick from, and the hiking is amazing. This is an annual trip for my family.

Trails very over grown only four bathrooms.

We travel around and prefer to stay in State Parks because they are usually so nice and well maintained. The trails here were all over grown with down trees everywhere, they have a disc golf course it was over grown and had so much poison ivy we could only play two holes.

They have 79 sites plus…
