Several full-hookup RV campgrounds operate near Windsor Heights with varying amenities and site configurations. Shadow Lake RV Resort in Woodsfield, Ohio offers year-round service with water, sewer, and electric connections on sites that accommodate larger vehicles. "Very level sites, tons of empty sites between campers," one visitor noted about the campground experience at Zion Retreat RV Park in Flushing, Ohio, which provides full hookups surrounded by tall trees. Austin Lake RV Park & Cabins in Toronto, Ohio operates seasonally from May through October with both thirty and fifty-amp electrical service, though some visitors report tight spacing between sites. Pine Cove Beach Club RV Resort in Charleroi, Pennsylvania maintains fifty-amp service for larger power requirements.

Many sites throughout the region require advance leveling preparation due to uneven terrain. According to one camper, "We stayed here November 21, 2020. The campground had no water hookups, about 90% of the sites were not level (and I mean by A LOT)." Cell service varies significantly, with some parks having no coverage regardless of carrier. Most campgrounds within 30 miles accommodate pets, though rules vary regarding breed restrictions and leash requirements. Seasonal availability becomes limited during winter months as several parks close completely from November through April. Dump stations and propane fill services aren't universally available, particularly at smaller facilities, making advance planning essential for longer stays or colder weather camping.

Hidden Hollow Campground — Fernwood State Forest

There’s no electricity and no where in walking distance and the internet isn’t great, and at night u hear raccoons in the trash cans. If you come here bring a portable phone charger. There’s really nothing here, and the bathrooms are disgusting

Gorgeous creek and pond and an absolutely amazing set of neighbors! I loved it there and will absolutely be going back!

      Salt Fork State Park Campground

Huge campground in huge park short drive from Route 70

We found site F26 at the far end of the loop. Short paved pad with electric very near a simple clean bathroom with flush toilets. Sites are treeless and fairly close together but the sites in our mini loop all backed up to the woods. Surprised to encounter mosquitoes in October. Overall the campground is huge with 5 separate loops that are spread far apart. The check in station is a significant distance from the first loop A and more than a mile from loop F so if you don’t have reservations, go to the website to find out which sites are available then drive around to make your selection -then call or go online to register. $45.50 for electric only site includes booking fee.

      Raccoon Creek State Park Campground

      beautifull park BUT!!!!

The park is beautiful, unlevel shade sites; is challenging to get the trailer level.  unfortunately, the bathhouses are neglected, dark and full of mildew inside the showers.  The park really needs to upgrade the bathhouses. The park itself is very nice and offers a lot of opportunities for outdoor exploration and hiking.

      Crawford's Camping Park

      Nice little campground.

This is more a campground for RVs then tents or even roof top tents. Place is clean and the sites 90% of them are in the open. Very little shade. Travis runs the place and very nice and accommodating. Fire wood is 20 dollars for a massive amount.

White Thorn Lodge - Family Nudist Campground

      Very Nice Visit

Spent three nights there in August Mid-week.  Was pretty quiet but was clean and nicely taken care  of.  No mosquitos or bugs at night.  Nice walking paths.  Pool, hot tub, outdoor showers all very nice.

      Raccoon Creek State Park Campground

      Raccoon creek

A little too close together for my comfort. But very nice and relaxing area. And definitely more spread a part than commercial campgrounds.

      Pride Valley Campground

      Perfect for us

The campground is well kept. Sites are well spaced. There’s a large clean swim lake, also a fishing lake. Lots of deer and wildlife. Monthly rates are $550 for full 50amp hookup.

    Guide to Windsor Heights

Visitors seeking RV camping near Windsor Heights, West Virginia have access to several campgrounds within a 30-mile radius. The region features rolling hills with elevations ranging from 650 to 1,200 feet, creating varied terrain that affects campsite positioning. What to do

Fishing opportunities: Austin Lake RV Park & Cabins offers multiple fishing spots with a small lake stocked seasonally. According to a camper, "A little out of the way but worth the drive. Has a playground in every section, well equipped cabins, a swimming area with inflatables, kayak, pontoon, and paddle boarding rentals, a bumper boat area, small lake where you can fish and boat."

Water recreation: Austin Lake RV Park & Cabins provides extensive water activities during their May-October season. One visitor noted, "Tons of stuff to do here. Very big campground, all kinds of sites. Inflatable slides and such in the lake, hiking trials, playgrounds, all sorts of stuff."

Wildlife observation: The natural setting at Shadow Lake RV Resort offers wildlife viewing opportunities along trails. A camper reports, "There are several ponds located on the property and trails meander along and around the 100 acre property. We see deer almost every evening. There are a couple hiking trails nearby (Piatt Park and Raven's Rock) which have incredible rock formations in the gorges."

    What campers like

Family-friendly environments: Many campgrounds prioritize activities for children. A visitor to Austin Lake notes, "Owner meets you at the gate, very nice guy to talk to. Staff was all very friendly and helpful. Tons of stuff to do with the kids. They loved the lake and everything there was to do on it. Kayaks, paddle boards, jumps, slides."

Swimming facilities: Pine Cove Beach Club RV Resort features an above-average pool area. According to a review, "The pool & concession stand, beautifully maintained lawns and gravel campsites, modern hookups, good shower/laundry facilities, nice fire rings with built in grills, trash pickup service."

Peaceful surroundings: Zion Retreat & RV Park offers a quiet camping experience with natural views. A camper shares, "The views are amazing! If you love peace and quiet this is the place for you. What you should know

Site leveling challenges: Terrain throughout the region requires advance planning for RV stabilization. At Austin Lake, a visitor advises, "Be advised it will seem a little sketchy getting in. The road dead-ends into the campground and it is all downhill getting there. Take your time and all will be just fine. Our rig is 39' & 16K. 4wd low helps, not cause you need 4wd just for the lower gears."

Additional fees: Some campgrounds charge for amenities beyond the site rental. One Austin Lake camper cautions, "Austin lake offers plenty of fun with the lake. Kayaking, inflatables, beach, but almost anything you want to do will cost you an additional charge. Need to use the bathhouse? Better take quarters...bc the showers are coin operated."
