Love it

We have a large group that has stayed there for the last 6 years..always a great time and friendly people.. mostly fair goer's…best tent sites around.. looking forward to this year.

West Branch is a pleasant camground.

We met a group of friends there to kayak on the lake. The lake and the campgrounds are busy places on a weekend in the summer. The campgrounds are clean, quiet and well organized. Spots are large enough that you do not feel crowded even on busy weekends. The lake was busy and a bit choppy with all the motor boasts but there are lots of quiet places to explore around the edge of the lake.

We have plans to go back soon.

Not free

This campground is not free. It was $28 for a non-electric site and I believe I was told it was almost $40 for a site with an electric hookup. There's a picnic table and fire ring at each site, and mine had a hammock post, but I'm not sure if they all do. There are trails and fishing so plenty to do. Fairly sparse in April but a lot of people still driving and walking by. Alcohol prohibited

Cabin

Last August rented Cabin. It was beautiful and very clean. The owners were great and very helpful. !! Cabins are a little high in price. No WiFi,. KOA should lower the prices due to that. Activities are great keeps the kids interested. KOA should have on all camping sites Life Guard if there is water sports involved.Game room was nice and clean.Change machine needs to stay stocked.Fishing lake was great. I think with full swing in Season they should offer more activities for adults too.Camp Store should be more orangized. Bathhouse was very clean!.Trash was picked up every day and the Park very clean.! We have booked another Cabin for May 2021. They have a limited rental on Life jacket s. Bring ur own.!

PSA: Use updated 2021 Website for reservations

Spoke with Department Office who was very helpful in pointing me to the current reservation web site.   5 Star rating is only based on interaction with telephone staff.  Will update review again after visiting.

Sandusky Bay Camping

Boondock camping “in the field” (there are 3 electric/water reservable sites as well as most sites are seasonal) on the Sandusky Bay on Lake Erie. Mark and Amy Somodi will feel like lifelong friends as well as their daughter and son-in-law. Great people! Transient boat docks with gas available as well, best for 24’ and under with shallow bay waters. Quaint swimming beach. Campfire rings/firewood but bring table/chairs. Vault toilets, no showers, water onsite to fill RV or portable shower bag. No reservations needed for camping in the field. Take a ferry to explore Lake Erie islands: Kelley’s Island, Put-in-Bay (South Bass Island), and Middle Bass Island. 9438 East Bayshore Rd, Lakeside Marblehead, OH 43440

Sioux primitive sites at Raccoon SP

The Sioux sites at Raccoon are open year round. No electricity but there is a water pump and the pit toilets are clean and well (solar) lit 24 hrs. Four sites, each offers some privacy though we had the place to ourselves in early March.

The nearby hiking is great. Try the Wetlands trail for a glimpse of beavers.

From the park office head away from the main lake and campground for about a mile then follow the sign to Sioux up the hill.

Site 5 is a pull-through but closest to the 2 group tent areas and toilets. site 4 a bit damp, 2 and 3 nice.

We will come back

Loved it! We stayed here as it was close to my work. We love being weekend warriors and this place is great for us. The season tenants were incredibly kind and you can tell they take care of this campground. We will absolutely come back as should you! Great playgrounds for the kids and plenty of things for the adults too!

Not Ohio’s best state park, but not the worst either

Stayed here several times in the summer of 2020 bc it was only an hour and a half from home and usually had sites available on or near the lake.

The algae was kind of thick, which made fishing impossible,so we stopped bringing the kayak.

Great Campground

My family has camped here the last two years and I’ve already made reservations for another trip this summer. The amenities are great with nice, clean showers and large sites. We’ve tent camped on the south side of the campground which seems to have more large and secluded sites. Having walked around it seems that the north side has more open condensed sites, but from what I can tell, generally all areas are pretty good (down side to the south side is being on the open lake and hearing loud boats all day).

For some it might be a pretty standard state park campground but for us it’s quickly becoming an annual family escape.
