"Beautiful scenery, very large park, fishing, boat rentals, man made beach, loooong floating boardwalk, lots of trails, unique sites and tons of history," shares Daniel U. about the variety at Punderson.
Beach swimming: West Branch State Park Campground offers both campground and public swimming areas. "The camper beach was small but nice and clean. We also took the inflatable kayaks out on the lake twice and it was so smooth and clear," writes Andrea F., pointing out the water quality.

Private wooded sites: Penitentiary Glen Reservation Campsite offers secluded camping spots with plenty of shade. "Would have given this site 5 stars but the walk to the site was a bit more of a haul than expected. It was just myself, kids, and pup. So it made setting up camp a bit more work but we enjoyed our stay thoroughly. Its like you have the forest to yourselves out here," Jillian E. explains.
Watercraft rentals: Boat rentals provide access to explore lakes without bringing your own equipment. "Beautiful setting," writes Rebecca about American Wilderness Campground, where "We loved the beach and the fun we have had this is our favorite place to camp and we love this family local owned business because they love making people happy and it shows."
Hill camping options: Unique elevated campsites provide different experiences than standard flat sites. "Really cool 'hill' sites that you have to hike up or down 20-100 feet to your wooded site," reports Daniel U., describing the topographical variation at Punderson State Park.
What you should know
Water quality varies: Campgrounds with well water may have mineral content issues requiring filtration. At some locations, the water contains high iron levels that affect taste and can stain equipment.
Site levelness challenges: Many campgrounds in the region have sloping sites requiring leveling equipment. "We were only off 2 inches side to side but front to back we had to lower the front 15 inches. The jack was down as low as it would go and we were still off by 1.5 inches," Andrea F. explains about her West Branch experience.
Bathroom condition inconsistency: Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA maintains clean facilities, but not all campgrounds in the area meet the same standards. "The only thing we were unable to do is have a camp fire. The fire ring was pushed so far down in the mud we were unable to get good air flow to start a fire," noted one camper about poor site maintenance.

Movie nights: The Farm at Grand River offers entertainment for children with outdoor movies. "My 6 year old daughter lived her farm animal dream life for a week! The hosts were so accommodating. My daughter loved the free movie nights under stars, running wild with the goats, and the play houses kept her busy for hours!" shares Hillz M.
Playground access: Several campgrounds feature play areas specifically designed for children. "The park is very nice. Great Lodge. Nice lakes and cabins to rent," notes Coy about Punderson, while others mention that West Branch has "a nice playground."
Wildlife encounters: Educational opportunities abound with local wildlife sightings. "The second night had lots of coyotes around, which is cool but can be dangerous if not careful of course. Coyotes were heard all around the general area," reports Ky G., suggesting awareness when glamping in Euclid, Ohio area with children.
Tips from RVers
Electrical limitations: Check amperage before booking as many sites offer only lower electrical capacity. "Very few full hookups. Rest of the sites only have 15-20 amp service. The lots are not even close to level. You will need a lot of blocks to get close to level," warns Coy about Punderson.
Extension cord needs: Electrical hookups may not be positioned ideally relative to parking. "We were in the area for medical visits in Cleveland. This spot was convenient and a great location to do a little sightseeing. Sites were gravel and level. We enjoyed full hookups," notes Sharon J. about her stay at Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA.
Site size variations: Glamping accommodation options near Euclid vary significantly in size and privacy. "We always ask for deluxe sites because we travel with 2 dogs and I must lIke havIng the extra space. This KOA did not let us down," says Janet A. about Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA.
