Nice stop! Safe and secure. A little dated and in need of updating bot overall, a good place to stay. Hookups worked great.

Mounds State Recreation Area Campground — Brookville Lake

This is a nice little campground. There is a lot of space between campers, and the spots are asphalt and somewhat level. It didn’t feel crowded at all. There are plenty of good hiking trails around and it’s fun to go look at the dam. Highly recommend going to the overlook at sunset!

      East Fork State Park Campground

A large campground spread out over multiple loops. Roads and campsites are paved. Our site #416 was spacious and secluded at the end of a dead end road. The bathhouse was a short hike away and in good condition.

      Friendly and quiet

There are a lot of people here, but even during the day we hardly hear any loud noises coming from any of the other campers. Walking the property (as much as I can with my cane) everyone is so friendly. The grounds are kept very clean. The people from the office actually do garbage pick-up anytime during office hours! Just place your trash bag/ other items to be thrown away at the front of your site and they take it away. They even have recycling, but you have to take that up yourself. They won't just tell you where it is, they will show you. I haven't been to a KOA site in 15 years and the one I went to was not a great experience, but I highly recommend staying here if you're passing through Cincinnati.

    Guide to Hamilton

Hamilton County parks offer a mix of camping options with varying landscapes across southwest Ohio. The region maintains a moderate climate with hot summers in the 80s and cooler spring and fall camping seasons in the 50s-70s. Most campgrounds stay open year-round, though weather conditions can affect accessibility during winter months.

    What to do

Lake activities: fishing and boating: At Follow The River RV Resort, campers can enjoy river views and water access. "The kids enjoyed seeing the barges going up and down the river. It was very quiet and peaceful," notes Lindsey S. The campground includes a boat ramp for paddleboarding and kayaking.

Splash parks and pools: Many Hamilton-area RV parks provide water recreation beyond natural bodies of water. "There is a pool access, a tree for shade at every lot, a picnic table at every lot and water access as well," reports Abigaile J. about Follow The River RV Resort. Some campgrounds advertise additional water features during peak season.

Local attractions access: The central location of campsites near Hamilton provides easy access to regional attractions. "We stayed here while traveling back home from the Smoky Mountains... We will definitely be back to enjoy another time," writes John about Winton Woods Campground. Some campers visit Cincinnati Reds games and other urban attractions.

    What campers like

Peaceful environment: Many campers appreciate the quiet atmosphere at certain RV parks near Hamilton. "The campground is easy to access and super well taken care of! I am honestly very impressed with this park!" states Abigaile J. Sites along the river often receive positive feedback for their serene settings.

Clean facilities: Campground cleanliness ranks high among visitor priorities. "I stayed at an electric only spot nestled in the trees by the lake. I was the only RV in this section all week and it was so peaceful and private," reports Tamar about Winton Woods. "The bathrooms were clean and dumping and getting water was easy."

Concrete pads at select sites: Tucker's Landing receives praise for its well-maintained concrete pads. "Nice sites. Confirmed it all over email. Ubered into the city and back. Nice paved roads. The kids could scooter around," shares Jennifer H. Concrete slabs provide stability for both RVs and outdoor activities.

    What you should know

Seasonal limitations: Not all amenities operate year-round at campgrounds near Hamilton. One visitor at Natural Springs Resort noted: "Advertises heated pool and splash pad, but pool was not heated and colder than lake and splash pad is still under construction."

Site availability challenges: Some RV parks fill quickly, especially during peak seasons and weekends. "We stayed here for three months. Pam and Jack are amazing hosts. So thankful for their flexibility and hospitality," reports Claire M. about Tucker's Landing, highlighting the need to book in advance.

Varying hookup configurations: Campgrounds offer different utility setups based on site location. "We have been camping here for over 4 years. We like the location to the State park nearby for hiking trails and mountain biking trails," explains Melissa T. about Thousand Trails Wilmington. "The campground consists of 3 loops - A mostly full hookup, B loop Water and Electric and C loop is a mix."

    Tips for camping with families

Activity variety for different ages: Family-friendly campgrounds include various recreation options. "There is a pool, volleyball courts and a dog park," notes Jessica G. about Follow The River RV Resort. Some sites specifically mention multiple playgrounds distributed throughout the campgrounds.

Nearby entertainment options: Camp Cedar provides proximity to local attractions. "Great location across from Kings Island. Many activities within this campus. Many beautiful cabins," writes Michael J. The campground serves as a convenient base for family day trips.

Distance to essential services: RV parks Hamilton, Ohio vary in their proximity to services. "Within 25 min of Walmart, home improvement stores, and restaurants. Overall nice campground with lots to offer," reports Jeremiah G. about Natural Springs Resort, highlighting the accessibility of needed supplies.

Urban conveniences: Unlike remote camping areas, RV parks near Hamilton provide urban amenities while maintaining a camping experience.
