RV parks around Southern Pines provide full hookup options for travelers seeking electric, water, and sewer connections. Fayetteville RV Resort & Cottages features gravel pads with 50-amp service and accommodates large motorhomes with multiple pull-through sites. Pine Lake RV Resort in Wagram remains open year-round with full hookups and adequate spacing between sites. Camp Henning at Ellerbe Springs offers 14 RV-only sites with electric, water, and sewer connections, though without bathroom facilities. Smith Lake Army RV Park on Fort Bragg provides concrete pads suitable for large rigs. "Sites are gravel, not all level, but not too bad. Full hook-ups, picnic table and fire pit," noted one camper about regional campgrounds.

Monthly rates average $600 for long-term stays at several parks, with daily rates typically ranging from $35-50 depending on amenities and location. Cell service varies considerably throughout the region—Verizon coverage was reported as excellent at Fayetteville RV Resort but spotty at other locations. Most parks accommodate pets with designated walking areas or nearby trails. RV dump stations are available at Pine Lake, Smith Lake, and Fayetteville resorts, while others require using on-site sewer hookups. During winter months, propane filling services become particularly valuable—Jordan Dam RV Park offers on-site propane, where staff will fill tanks left on picnic tables. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially for weekend stays between March and November when military traffic increases site demand.

Deep River Campground And RV Park

Stopped here after our fiasco with holly bluff. Beautiful campground with trees. Very quiet during the day and peaceful. The only thing we found curious was the vehicle in and right back out activity between 10:30-pm and 1am back and forth to campers that were long term stays. Made nighttime hard to sleep in site 3 with vehicles back and forth for hours .

      Holly Bluff Family Campground

Stopped in to get a spot for a few nights nights because it said they had available rv spots Unfortunately they didn’t know which end was up and tried to squeeze us into a spot that might have hookups that maybe worked but they couldn’t be sure. It was a joke. We left after waiting several minutes waiting while they were looking for a place to maybe squeeze us in because we had a small camper. No thanks. Would not recommend staying here til they get there act together

Deep River Campground And RV Park

New Owners, making lots of noticeable changes for your enjoyable stay

Looking for a nice place for a camping getaway? We highly recommend checking out the Deep River Campground in Asheboro, NC. The location itself is beautiful. It is literally on the Deep River and features a hiking trail that runs along the river past the remnants of a historical damn, where a small area of rapids gently swirls around the big rocks spanning the river. There’s also a large lake with a nice grassy expanse for picnics, playing games or just lazing around lakeside. This campground has been around for a while, but it has new owners now and they are breathing some for real new life into the place. They have already made lots of repairs and improvements, and you can see more in progress. There are sites for RVs with all the hook-ups, and great primitive sites for tent camping, several located right on the river. If you don’t have an RV and sleeping on the ground doesn’t spark joy, they have a few small rustic but nicely-appointed cabins. You’ll find two pools, several covered picnic shelters, a playground for the small ones, and several options for older kids and adults to play, like a horseshoe pit and a nice game room. They also have planned activities like movie nights and weiner roasts most evenings to entertain and create community among campers. They are pet friendly and have their own pet mascots on site— a flock of ducks including beautifully colored teals and mallards. We were just there for 2 nights, but I have a good feeling we’ll be visiting there again soon. Definitely worth a visi

      Camp Henning at Ellerbe Springs

      Horror of Horrors

This property should not be advertised. It was next to a cow pasture and the flies were horrible. We could not even get out of our van. The other trailers there were obviously long term and not well maintained. The inn had n the property was dilapidated and closed. Nothing in the description was anything like our experience. We decided to leave after seeing the condition of everything. Real bad.

Dispersed Camping off Falls Dam Trail

Large group sites surrounded by OHV activities

This is/was marked as dispersed camping but this is primarily an OHV area, with a shooting range nearby that can be heard from some campsites. Most, if not all, of the campsites are intended to be large group sites. The empty site we found was filled with trash, discarded tents, air mattresses, and trashed electronics from OHVs. There's so much trash we would not even be able to take it all out with us if we wanted to. This may be a national forest, but it is not peace and quiet as one would expect from "dispersed and primitive" camping.

      Lumberton I-95 KOA

      Easy stop

This is a clean campground with nice large clean bathrooms. Road noise a bit but coach A/C helped drown traffic noise. Dogs loved frisbee in park area.

Crosswinds Campground — Jordan Lake State Recreation Area

      Quiet, clean, spacious

The sites are very large, long and wider at the back, plenty of room for a big group or family. The bathrooms look new and they are clean. Here during the week so it's very empty and quiet.

      Fayetteville RV Resort & Cottages

Pools, Putt-Putt & Plenty of Room to Play

Sometimes you pull into a campground expecting little more than a comfortable place to sleep and discover the kids have already made tomorrow’s plans before you’ve even finished setting up, and Fayetteville RV Resort & Cottages was that kind of happy surprise for our family. Tucked into the countryside of Wade just minutes from I-95, this beautifully maintained resort combines spacious, mostly shaded RV sites (including enormous pull-throughs accommodating big rigs) with cottages and enough green space that it feels remarkably removed from the highway. Families are especially spoiled here with two swimming pools, mini golf, a playground, walking path, fitness center, clubhouse, clean restrooms and showers, laundry facilities and dog parks, while full-hookup sites with 30/50-amp service make Mom and Dad’s life considerably easier too. One of my favorite memories was watching the boys bounce between swimming and miniature golf until that wonderful end-of-the-day exhaustion finally set in, leaving us to enjoy a quieter evening together back at the campsite. Some campgrounds are where you sleep between adventures - this is one where convincing the kids to actually leave becomes the adventure. With the resort offering numerous long pull-through and back-in sites rather than one clearly superior campsite, I’d choose one of the more shaded sites away from the busiest activity areas if your family values a quieter evening. We would enthusiastically recommend Fayetteville RV Resort for families because it’s exceptionally clean, wonderfully convenient and packed with enough kid-friendly recreation to turn what could easily have been an I-95 pit stop into a genuine family camping getaway.

    Guide to Southern Pines

Military traffic increases campground demand near Southern Pines, North Carolina from March to November. The region features sandy soil conditions with clay sediment that affects drainage during heavy rain periods. RV sites near Southern Pines typically connect travelers to Fort Bragg's military operations, with helicopter activity and artillery training noticeable at certain campgrounds.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: Smith Lake Army RV Park offers lake access fishing for DoD members. "Lots of recreational activities with lake access. Staff was very friendly. Concrete pads are level and sites are spacious with a picnic table and fire pit," notes Joy B., highlighting the recreation options available.

Farm animal interaction: At Double L Farms Campground, children can experience farm life up close. "There were happy chickens roaming around. The camp host were really nice and showed us where to set up. The bathroom was very clean. There are horses, cattle, chickens and a turkey. The animals come to say hi," shared New D., making this a unique option among RV sites near Southern Pines.

Hiking trails: Jordan Dam RV Park provides nature trails around its property. "While there's not a whole lot of commerce in these parts, nearby there is Ray's Supermarket, Jordan Dam Mini-Mart/Grill and a host of restaurants and stores over in Pittsboro. There's free WiFi, laundry service, propane tank onsite as well as little store on the campground premises itself and even a small fish pond," according to Stuart K.

    What campers like

Clean facilities: Pine Lake RV Resort maintains well-kept amenities that campers appreciate. "Clean, quiet and great owner!! Nice pond, pool and trails! They strongly support our troops!!" writes Michael Y. about this camping option.

Military sounds: Many veterans and military families enjoy Smith Lake's proximity to training areas. "We loved the sounds of freedom and enjoyed seeing our service members practicing flight maneuvers. Being retired aviation, we peacefully slept thru it all," reports Big Sarge and Dee C., highlighting a unique aspect that some campers specifically seek.

Welcoming hosts: Campground managers receive consistently positive feedback for their hospitality. "Lisa & Brian are the nicest people you could ever meet. Place is very clean Bathrooms are Great. Not much to do but peaceful," notes Alfred H. about his experience at Double L Farms, showing how personal connections enhance camping experiences.

    What you should know

Winter propane services: Jordan Dam RV Park offers convenient propane filling during cold months. "The RV Park has on-site propane filling, and if you leave your tank on your picnic table, Earl will come and fill it. This was extremely convenient during the winter months, when we were filling one of our tanks every few days," explains Michael R.

Site levelness varies: Terrain throughout the region creates uneven parking conditions at some campgrounds. "The road to is dirt with sand mix, they good a good job of keeping it graded. The ownership and management are very nice people and are super responsive to everything," reports Patrick F. about Pine Lake RV Resort.

Long-term stays available: Monthly rates for extended stays typically run $600 at several parks. "We came here the day we sold our house in Fayettville. Covit19 had just hit so the campground we had reserved fell through and couldn't get tenants to leave because they were scared. We were in for a surprise, Fayetteville RV resorts welcomed us with open arms and put us under a long term clause so we couldn't get thrown out if they shut everything down," shares Amurican L.
