Not for recreational campers

Full disclosure, we did not stay here. PLEASE, folks that leave reviews on this app, PLEASE say whether it’s a full-timer campsite or a recreational campsite. We arrived after leaving another campsite in the area (that was also 100% full timers) and were disappointed to find that this site was all permanent campers with crap everywhere. One site even had a funeral home sign hanging out front of an entire plywood addition to their camper…like what? Call me picky, but I don’t feel entirely comfortable camping for fun next to folks who live in the campground like this. After driving through the super narrow and rutted out roads to the site they recommend, a man came hauling a** into our site (with a beer in his hand) and was saying “hello hellooooo.” Said he was the owner of the campsite and asked if we were staying, we said we were thinking about it, just checking out the available sites (as the lady up front told us to do). TL;DR- bad vibes. Didn’t stay. Be warned this is a full time campsite with crap everywhere. The lady working the office was super nice though.

Rainy Rain Rain 🌧

The campground was so huge the grounds were so nice. It had a little arcade, a nice lake, and playground. We like the surrounding area, the mountains and hikes are awesome but we went during October when it was cold and would love to come back when it's warmer so we can actually see what's going on there. People were very nice when we interacted with them.

Best seasonal and transient camping in the Catskills

2023 will be my 6th year seasonal camping at the "Whip". This gem really is the best kept secret campground in the Catskills. From it bathrooms to its pool to its general store , playground , basketball courts , bocceball, 7 acre lake and 2 miles of walkable runable paths , Ted & Angela do a fantastic job of keeping the place running like a top. Always clean and always improving services. I consider this placec my home away from home

Super Friendly Community!

Loved this campsite with tons to do. We did have a rough first night with some inconsiderate neighbors who partied until 7am keeping us up all night but owner assured us he would handle it and that he did! Had a great stay the rest of the weekend. Thanks!

Nice place, run by nice people

Extremely nice staff, even helped us check in late. Campground has lots to do with a rec center, playground, and pool. There's a great view of a lake and surrounding hills.

Bathrooms were very clean, with flush toilets. Water spouts at every site. Sites were really spacious too!

We forgot to check the weather, and came in right before a thunderstorm. After the storm, the staff came out to check on us individually to make sure we were okay! So nice of them.

Only downside was loud geese kept us up. 🦢

Great Campground

Found this campground solely on Internet. Pleasantly surprised that it was more than expected when I arrived. Full facilities and nice fishing pond. Staff was great. Extra bonus for me was a spectacular golf course (Blackhead Mt Resort) only a 5 minute drive away. A real hidden gem. Can't wait to get back this season. 👌

Love this place

Good vibes, simple amenities, great camp store and a good location! a good spot for overnight or extended camping especially if you arent planning on doin extra to go into the Natl Park.
