It's very woodsy between sites, so it seems very private. Bathrooms and Showers are clean. Over 20 miles in hiking trails, this is one of the nicest parks, I've visited," notes Michi P.
Reservoir activities: At Woodford State Park Campground, about 35 miles northeast of Victory Mills, visitors can enjoy paddling and swimming. "The reservoir is beautiful- plenty of space to spread out for paddling and swimming. We had no issues with noise from other campers," explains Melissa S., who appreciated the natural setting.
Biking pathways: King Phillip's Campground provides direct access to a paved recreational path connecting Lake George to Glens Falls. "I'm rating this campground as a 5/5 because of the location. We road the bike path each day to and from Lake George. It was downhill on the way there and a little bit of an uphill battle on the way back but totally worth it," states Stephanie H.

Wooded privacy: The spacious sites at Moose Hillock Camping Resorts offer natural separation between campers. "The sites at this park are huge. You could have parked three RVs in our site. Added bonus is that there is nice separation between sites with trees and shrubs that block out your neighbors and provide lots of privacy," reports Nancy W.
Wildlife encounters: Early mornings and evenings bring opportunities for wildlife observation at several campgrounds. At Woodford State Park, campers often hear diverse wildlife sounds. "We heard coyotes at night and loons in the morning," recounts Melissa S., highlighting the natural setting that many visitors seek.
Clean facilities: Lake Lauderdale Campground, approximately 20 miles east of Victory Mills, maintains well-kept grounds and facilities. "We visited last year and were blown away by the beauty. So many things near by to exlore. Lake lauderdale state park and Vermont is just 20 mins away," shares Mansi D.

Seasonal considerations: Most campgrounds near Victory Mills operate from early May through mid-October. Moreau Lake State Park's season runs "May 6 to October 13" according to park information, with varying amenities available depending on the month.
Reservation requirements: Sites fill quickly during peak summer months, especially on weekends. "This is a total family playground and if that is what you are looking for, this is your place! There are tons of activities, lots of families and 'stuff' going on all the time," explains Nancy W. about Lake George Escape Campground.
Highway noise considerations: Some campgrounds near major roadways experience traffic sound. "Nice sites, way to close to Northway. I'm longing for home, for peace and quiet. Which is why I like camping. For quiet, it's hard to have a conversation without the need to shout or repeat what you said over the traffic," reports Mary W. about Lake George Campsites.
Tips for camping with families
Pool facilities: Ledgeview Village RV Park offers well-maintained swimming options for families. "This is our second time at this campground. Very nice sites, peaceful. Has a playground and pool. Kids enjoyed the area," shares Lauren.
Kid-friendly programming: Many campgrounds schedule daily activities specifically for younger visitors. "We love going to Lake George RV Park. It's got large sites, virtually all blacktop roads, bike trails, dog park, indoor pool, outdoor pool and another (new) water park with zero-entry pool. Great store on-site, Movie theater & shows/entertainment," recommends Ray C.
Playground access: Multiple facilities offer play structures to keep children entertained. King Phillip's Campground provides playground equipment near certain sites. "Great campground for families, we stayed at a tent site right near the playground. Pool, arcade, a short trolley ride to downtown lake George. It was a great stay and the kids loved it," confirms Katrina J.
Tips from RVers
Site selection strategy: When booking RV sites, consider privacy needs and full hookup availability. Moose Hillock offers "nice and secluded but extremely spacious which is a very rare combination," according to Jessica D., making it ideal for larger rigs requiring additional space.
Leveling requirements: Some campgrounds require additional equipment for setup. "Fantastic stay! There is a trolley to get around the camp ground as well as to the local outlets. Fun family activities and quite a few pools to relax in. Sites are decent size, but be sure to bring boards to level your trailer for some sites are quite uneven," advises Michelle D. about Lake George Escape Campground.
RV length limitations: Verify campground specifications before booking for larger vehicles. Alpine Lake RV Resort accommodates varying sizes but requires navigation planning. "Booked an 'Elite 50amp' site but had no realistic map to go by. Many of these types of sites are parallel to the water, but the map makes them look like back in sites. If your site neighbors are in their spots already when you arrive it will probably be hard to navigate unless you have a 20' rig," cautions April L.
