Several campgrounds near Mechanicville, New York provide cabin accommodations with varying levels of amenities. Moreau Lake State Park Campground features cabins set among wooded sites with access to hiking trails and lake activities. Adventure Bound Camping Resort at Deer Run offers cabin rentals with electric hookups and proximity to water attractions. Most cabins include basic furnishings with beds and seating areas, while bathroom facilities are typically shared in centralized locations. Some properties provide cabins with heating options for cooler weather camping. "The sites are spacious, shady, and had good separation between the neighboring sites which we enjoyed," noted one visitor about their cabin experience at Moreau Lake State Park.
Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Graceful Acres Farmstay and Birch Hollow Farm provide more secluded cabin options for those seeking privacy, with the latter offering just a single cabin site. Frosty Acres Campground operates seasonally from May to October with cabins situated at higher elevation for scenic views. Most cabins are pet-friendly with specific policies varying by campground. A camper at Frosty Acres described it as having "awesome camping" with amenities like fishing ponds and recreational facilities. Reservations are strongly recommended during summer months when occupancy rates increase.
Most cabin rentals provide basic furniture but require guests to bring their own linens, pillows, and towels. Kitchen facilities vary significantly between properties, with some offering only outdoor cooking options while others include microwaves or small refrigerators. Campground stores like those at Adventure Bound Camping Resort and Alpine Lake RV Resort stock essential supplies, though selection is limited. Some cabin properties include picnic tables and fire rings for outdoor meal preparation. Water is generally available at central locations rather than directly in cabins. Firewood can be purchased on-site at most locations, with one visitor noting that Moreau Lake State Park has "one of the best systems" for firewood purchase.
"At the office/store the employees were very nice and helpful. The public bathrooms were very clean but the toilets didn’t flush very well in the 2 different bathrooms we went to."
"The draw back is where you need to park the camper is about 7 inches out of level. If we stay in the same site again we would come better prepared."
"Nicely treed sites and cabins with a pretty lake. Hiking, biking, swimming, boat/canoe/paddleboard rentals. No hookups but does have dump station. Pets allowed. We really like it here"
"Great thing about this park is the hiking trails and lake so you don’t even have to leave to the park to enjoy great outdoor recreation."

"Quiet, great fire pits, clean bathrooms, firewood and starter for sale plus access to day use area. The lake next to the campground is beautiful and has plenty of picnic tables and grills for use."
"We have camped at Woodford State Park in the summer and fall. It's a small park, but it never feels crowded. Most park activities are based around a small, 25-acre lake."
"Shaded and full sun site options as well as rental units if you don't have an RV."
"**Lake George RV Park may be the greatest campground we’ve stayed at yet!"
"Great park near Lake George. Very spacious with many different activities to do! They have movies, dances and even some kayaking, padding, ect."
"I stayed at Alpine Lake RV Resort for three nights and had an absolutely fantastic experience."
"Amazing place off the beaten path but still an easy drive to SPAC. We had a nice secluded site for our van. Off grid but with good sun for solar."
"Nice and quiet and secluded. The gentleman that runs the campground couldn't be nicer."
"Very quiet and park was almost empty as they had just opened for the season 2 days prior. Covid 19 I'm sure was part of the reason. As a result the playground and pool was closed."
"Even though this is a private campground, each site is like it’s own private oasis with plenty of trees to make you feel like you are camping at most state campgrounds."
"Dumpsters, laundry with coin machine. Very remote. Windy as all get out. Elevation about 1409 feet. View of the sunrise over the entire valley are awesome. Very very cool place."
"We stayed in the Bee cabin, right on the Battenkill River. This tiny cabin has a queen bed, a little table with two chairs, a microwave, a mini-fridge, and a Keurig coffee maker."

We spent a long weekend at Moose Hillock in Fort Ann, New York, to visit Lake George. This is a difficult place for me to review. But I’ll do my best to share my experience.
The pool is the main attraction here and probably the largest and most ridiculous I’ve ever seen at a campground. Great for young kids.
THINGS I LIKED:
— The sites are enormous and private, probably the biggest sites we’ve ever seen at any campground we’ve stayed at.
— The mature trees are everywhere, great for privacy.
— It’s located about 25-minutes to the heart of Lake George. Easy drive away but not in the loud and busy area.
— The camp store is pretty good and sells snacks, drinks, basic supplies, and souvenirs.
THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE SO MUCH:
— Our site(# 709) was sloped, so much that even with leveling boards under the rear wheels, rear jacks fully extended and front jacks fully retracted, we couldn’t level. That’s annoying and so easily fixed by a campground this size with this array of equipment and resources.
— Except for the entry roads, the rest of the park is gravel and dirt, which was extremely dusty. Our vehicles and our stuff were instantly covered by this dusty dirt which was a never-ending battle to keep outside.
— I’m ok paying premium money for a great site, but this site wasn’t matched to the price. I paid$647.38 for 3-nights. That’s$215.79 per night.
WOULD WE COME BACK?
Probably not. For me, having a level site that’s not covered in dirt and dust is important— especially when it costs$215 per night. There’s a much nicer park about 10-minutes away(closer to Lake George) where we’ve stayed in the past. The sites are smaller, but they’re level.
This is a very nice campground but it is not at Lake George. It is about 25 min to Lake George Village. We had no trouble getting level and the bathhouse was very nice and CLEAN! The owners are very friendly and receptive to suggestions.
We camped here in the fall and really enjoyed our time here. We had.to hike about 500 feet from our car to our site, but we're no strangers to backpacking, and it was a really.quick jaunt. Our site was right near the water. Great place.
The campground is on a hillside and we stayed in one of the higher sites, further from the electrical site. The background humming was faint. There are 2 very close sites next to 3 yurts. The first night, our yurt neighbors partied until 1:30 am, and the 2nd night a family stayed and were in bed by 9:30. The closest bathrooms were down the hill a bit and were clean with a nice shower. Amazing hiking trails right from the campground. Our dog encountered a porcupine, and got away with only a couple of quills to the lower lip. If you have a dog, you will need to show a current rabies tag to bring them into the campsite.
The campground is secluded and quiet, lots of trees and the pond is pretty. There is a good hike around the pond (2.5 miles or so) with cool pull offs for wildlife spotting (we saw two loons fishing for their baby).
Site 73 itself had the camp beach access which brought some people in close proximity but they were all respectful. The beach is more of a muddy, rocky, bay but shallow enough for wading.
Fire wood seemed expensive for what we got ($9 per bundle).
People are super friendly and helpful. Campground is well maintained and very secure. RV site was very large and mostly level. Good location. Close to Hudson River and Albany.
Very poorly run camp. Definitely not family oriented.
It’s a clean very small campground but not family friendly mostly older people. Management is rude. Don’t recommend
Cabin rentals near Mechanicville, New York offer seasonal access from May through October, with most properties situated within 30 miles of town. The Adirondack foothills location provides elevation changes from 200 feet in the river valleys to over 1,400 feet at certain campgrounds. Winter cabin options are limited, with Frosty Acres being one of the few locations offering off-season accommodations at its higher elevation site.
Hiking trails: Moreau Lake State Park Campground provides over 20 miles of trails ranging from easy walks to challenging climbs. "I love the spacious campsites. It's very woodsy between sites, so it seems very private. Bathrooms and Showers are clean. Over 20 miles in hiking trails, this is one of the nicest parks, I've visited," notes Michi P.
Water activities: Lake George RV Park offers biking trails that connect to local routes leading to Lake George Village. "Fantastic stay! There is a trolley to get around the camp ground as well as to the local outlets. Fun family activities and quite a few pools to relax in," reports Michelle D.
Winter recreation: Frosty Acres Campground provides winter cabins for cold-weather enthusiasts. "We stayed from April until October then decided to stay over winter. They have a small winter section. You'll have the entire mountain side all to yourself! Snowshoe, cross country ski. Winter campfires," shares James S.
Private sites: Moose Hillock Camping Resorts features unusually spacious cabin and camping areas. "Sites are huge. Plenty of room for our RV, and small tent. Private. Can't say enough about the pool. We had multi-generations camping. From the great grandmother to 2 1/2 yr toddler we all enjoyed the pool," says Julie E.
Quiet locations: Rustic Barn Campground provides a more secluded experience away from crowds. "Amazing place off the beaten path but still an easy drive to SPAC. We had a nice secluded site for our van. Off grid but with good sun for solar. Matt, the host, is so nice and made sure we had everything we needed," writes Jen J.
Diverse swimming options: Alpine Lake RV Resort offers both lake swimming and pools. "The entire resort is beautiful and well-maintained, with peaceful surroundings and stunning natural scenery. The lake views are especially breathtaking — perfect for early morning coffee or sunset stroll," according to The L.
Seasonal considerations: Some cabins close entirely during winter months. Woodford State Park operates from "Memorial Day weekend to Columbus Day weekend" with limited availability for popular cabin units.
Reservation policies: Woodford State Park Campground cabins book quickly during peak season. "We unexpectedly had a free Saturday afternoon and night and 2 borrowed kayaks. This was our first visit to Woodford. Site 13 was the only one available," explains Melissa S.
Leveling requirements: Terrain at some parks requires preparation. "Our site was large and shaded. The draw back is where you need to park the camper is about 7 inches out of level. If we stay in the same site again we would come better prepared," advises Lauren from Adventure Bound Camping Resort.
Water park options: Adventure Bound Camping Resort includes water attractions specifically designed for children. "Family oriented. The kids loved love water attractions. Our site was large and shaded," notes Lauren.
Organized activities: Moreau Lake State Park Campground provides recreational facilities beyond just swimming. "Nice sandy beach with lifeguard hours. Facilities are relatively modern but still basic, nice and clean. Most sites aren't right along the lake but it's still so close," explains Amber A.
Noise levels: Woodford State Park has mixed reviews regarding quiet. "If you're looking for a quiet spot maybe don't look here. If you have kids and don't mind them making friends and roaming the campground then this is great! Boat rentals!" advises J L.
Bathroom accessibility: Alpine Lake RV Resort has limited accessible facilities. "I was hoping to be able to use the bathrooms and showers since I broke my foot and in a walking boot and using a shower chair. But not only were they yuk there were absolutely no handicap stalls in the closest bathroom," reports Stacie.
Site selection: Lake George RV Park layout requires careful planning. "Sites are pretty close together but we went so early in the season we didn't have anyone on either side of us - in fact I think we were the only people there that weren't seasonal," shares Brandilyn W. from Adventure Bound.
Utility fluctuations: Water pressure can vary during peak usage times. "Had an issue with water pressure on Saturday around 10am and called the office to make sure there was not a known water issue. Front desk knew nothing and said they would send maintenance but we never saw anyone. The situation improved so we think it was just a high demand time of day," notes April L.
