    Overview

Willow Bay is located within the Allegheny National Recreation Area, about 16 miles from Bradford, in northwestern Pennsylvania. It is primarily an accessible family campground that also offers rustic cabins available by reservation year-round. The facility offers modern amenities, including flush toilets and showers, but also provides access to great outdoor recreation opportunities. Most of campsites and cabins can be accessed by vehicle, some campsites are walk-to. Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and must bring several of their own amenities.

    Recreation

Visitors enjoy water sports, including boating, water skiing, swimming, and sailing on the 12,080-acre, man-made Allegheny Reservoir. Anglers can find walleye, bass, and musky. A courtesy dock is provided at the boat launch for easier loading and unloading during the summer season. Kayak and canoe rentals are also available on site, first come, first serve basis. The North Country Trail is part of the National Scenic Trail system and can be accessed from the campground and cabin area. It is open to hikers only; no bicycles of any kind, no riding or pack stock, and no motorized travel. The historic trail stretches across seven states and 12 national forests, wandering 4,600 miles through Americas rugged northern heartlands. The area offers excellent wildlife viewing, as well as birding and photography opportunities.

    Natural Features

Built in the 1960s by the U.S. Corps of Engineers, the campground has an open appearance unlike other Forest Service facilities in the area. The campground was recently renovated and cabins were erected at the site between 2003 and 2011, offering a different kind of experience for visitors to the area. The campground and cabins are situated on the shore of Willow Bay, off the Allegheny Reservoir, which is also called Kinzua Reservoir. The facility is in forested hills, at an elevation of 1,400 feet. Campsites vary from being on grass with no shade, to being nestled in small stands of mature Hemlock trees (location within the campground is mentioned on the site list). Cabins are nestled in the surrounding forest.

    Contact Info

For facility specific information, please call (814) 363-9090.

    Nearby Attractions

The Seneca-Iroquois Indian Museum and the Salamanca Rail Museum are popular historic sites that are located just over the state line, in Salamanca, New York. It is about a half-hour drive from the campground and cabin area. The Zippo/Case Museum, located in nearby Bradford, PA, showcases the history and products of the Zippo, Case, and Ronson Companies. It is open 7 days a week except New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day, and admission is free.

Linesville Campground — Pymatuning State Park

Very nice close to the lake has showers and laundry room

Linesville camp ground is on the Pennsylvania and Ohio border. There's no shopping malls it's located outside of linesville, the camp ground is not big and it's not small has non electric and electric it also has rv hook up alot of people go here to go fishing since it's located beside a very large lake. There is plenty to see it's also known as pymatuning where the ducks walk on the water if you've never visited this camp ground it's worth the trip unless it rains.

    Quiet, Wooded, on the Creek

Beautiful level sites, spaced nicely apart, full hook ups, with big picnic tables and fire rings with multi-tiered grate. We had sites #46 and 48 right above the creek surrounded by tall trees. Incredibly quiet. Great for those traveling with dogs. We had a bluegrass quintet playing two sites down from ours and it was amazing! Within a 30 min drive of Cook Forest State Park, where we did some terrific hiking on well marked trails. A farm stand in the open-air market right by the campground rounded out our dinner with fresh zucchini and tomatoes. Can’t comment on the bathhouses bc we didn’t use them.

    Sites sooo cramped!

Pleasant stay, paid through dyrt(aka campspot) so could not reserve a spot without paying extra. Checkin was all done remotely so no issues on rate change. Spots are VERY close together(think sitting next to your neighbors sewage pipe) despite the fact it was off season, owners packed everyone into a single location.. Most around us where very long term with many having permanent structures, but very quiet. The view was spectacular. Would definately not stay at peak due to the sheer number of people they can cram in. Did not use any amenities. Would have rated much higher if sites were not so close together.

Some Sites Have a View of Lake Erie

    Unfortunately, my site did not.

However, my site wasn't crowded and the electricity was reliable. This campground has three loops. One has 30 amp power, one has 50 amp power (with a 30 amp outlet on the same pedestal) and the third loop is for tent camping. There are several places to get water in the camp, so be sure to fill up your tanks before you park. There is a dump station. None of the sites are full hook up.

Each site has a picnic table and a grill.

There are two bath houses. The newer one - between loops one and three - also has laundry facilities.

Your payment for your campsite entitles you to admission to the beach, which is a hike or a drive away.

    Spacious Camping in the Woods

This campground is operated by the state and they take excellent care of it. The sites are spacious with all different types of typography - large boulders, slopes, flats all with grass and dirt, handicap accessible picnic tables and fire rings. Few sites have full hook-up and those are closest to the paved roads. Several sites have electric but most are for boondocking. The sites closest to the GORGEOUS reservoir are all primitive. All sites are back-in. There are paths leading down to the reservoir throughout the campground. The pit toilets and shower houses are well-located and very clean. There is firewood available for purchase on-site.  There is an easily accessible dump site right on the property. It was a quiet place with respectful campers. Kayaking down the river from Westline back to the campground was a blast! The water was higher because of all the rains this month so we got lucky and encountered some class III rapids. Usually a trip of this distance might have you doing some portage in that same river when the water is at normal levels. We ventured away from camp this time into the town of Westline and Kane and found some great little local restaurants and even a distillery that rolled out the welcome mat for us! No other frills are available at Redbridge campground, but if you just want to be in the woods and enjoy nature, this is the place to do just that. Bring your boats, bikes and hiking boots and have a ball surrounded by the natural beauty that is the Allegheny Reservoir area.

    Always a good time!

It sits at the bottom of the Kinzua Reservoir. There are non-electric waterfront sites with plenty of room. Full hookups are also available and just electric sites. Close to great trout fishing! Great restaurant just down the road with really awesome pizza! Ice cream for dessert. Also a little store about a mile away that has firewood and the camping necessities. They also sell bait. It is a fairly quiet campground and has beautiful scenery.

    Nice area for photography

I went here the second week in October 2023 for a fall leaves photography trip. The campground owner is pleasant and available when needed. The place was fairly empty and I loved the quiet. Reasonable full hookup rates. The pulls ins are a bit of a draw on levelness, but none are horribly unlevel. I was in the "B1" and it's a bit larger than the others as it's on the corner. It had a nicely level spot on a gravel drive for my 21 ft travel trailer. Part of the pull in is a bit uphill, but at the top it's perfect for the smaller trailer like mine plus my Ford Explorer.  I'm a 63 yo woman and had no issues hooking up.  As I pulled out I stopped at the store to say goodbye. I realized I forgot to grab my garbage bag (left it sitting near the picnic table). She said don't worry about it I'll have the guys grab it for you. Nice woman! The entire camp is beautifully wooded and it's a remote area. Nearest town for groceries is 30 mins, but it was on my way to Allegheny State Park and Kinzua dam, so not a bad drive. Going to come back next year!

We stayed in site C6 one of the reservable sites. Every site has plenty of room. Campground overall is quiet. And most if not all of the full hookups are pull throughs. But seems many of the tent sites are on grades. Couple beautiful walk in tent sites right on the water. Plenty of nice hiking trails. Great beach for kids.

    Excellent for families!

This campground, given its location along Tionesta creek, spillway, and close to the Allegheny River has a lot to offer. The campground is a basic campground with full hookups (electric, water, sewer), large size sites, nice firepits with built in adjustable grates, two basic bathrooms, and one full bathhouse. Sites were well priced at $35/night for the amenities. The roads within the camp were well paved and traffic truly was not an issue (we were at a site on the main entrance and we were never bothered by the noise/traffic). Our kids were able to ride bikes, skateboards, and roller blade without difficulty. Water activities were mainly in the creek and river but you did not have to pay to access the water. This was the first time we stayed at the campground and we will certainly be back!!

Quaker Area — Allegany State Park State Park

    Near Pennsylvania border

We go here in the fall or late summer, it’s a big park with lots of hiking and history to explore. There are 10 or so places to camp, from lean-tos to RV camping. We like to stay one night at a campground and another along one of the trails. It’s no so much backpacking as it is a 1-3 mile easy-ish hike. All the sites we’ve been to are nice and clean. There’s swimming in at least one lake but we’ve never gone.

    It’s was okay

Reserved site 30, which was on a corner and entrance to the loop. The back of our camper was 15’ from our neighbor’s camper, so no real privacy. Our fire pit ring was also just a few feet from theirs. It was a very cramped space. While we had full hookup, there was no room or privacy. The campground had a playground that was at the entrance and the creek was nearby. We drove through the loop and noticed nearly all of the sites were close together. We did not use the public facilities, so no opinion there. 1-2 bars of Verizon coverage. It was okay, but we won’t go back.

    Great First Camping Experience

Great, great campground it was very clean and fairly quiet. It seemed like a lot of RV campsites which is great but we wanted a more tent like experience. It was my wife’s first time tent camping and the cleanliness of the campground really helped her want to camp again. We did a walk to campsite as we wanted a little more privacy, which was nice, we were fairly spread out while only being 150 feet from the showers. Showers were clean and we have Verizon cell service.

Almost all the RV spots were full, but most of the walk to spots were empty which you can see the availability on the PA Parks website. Likewise you had to walk over a small bridge to get to the walk to site.

    Beautiful Fall Camping

This park was such a great find. We were traveling I-86 through the area and wanted to spend a few days in the woods admiring the beautiful fall colors and this turned out to be the perfect place to do that. There was just one other camper in our loop (Quaker Section) because we were there the three days prior to the park closing for the season. Even the other loops had just a few campers. It took us three sites to find one that was level enough for our RV but our motorhome is pretty sensitive to degrees of unevenness so it may not be a problem for most others. Our site had 50 amp electric but the hook-ups were at the far back of the site at barely reached. The parking pad was gravel and the patio was grass.

The solitude of this park was great but we can imagine there is lots to do and plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities in the summer. There office/store is not located in the loop we parked in but it was an easy in and out with our 45’ motorhome and tow car. We loved the old CCC building that it was in and the others that exist in the park. Bears are present in the area and bear-proof containers for food and garbage in the campground. Plenty of hiking trails and walking opportunities exist from rustic dirt trails to nice paved paths. We enjoyed the paved areas because rain made the rustic trails very slippery.

There is a nice paved trail around Red House Lake that makes for a pleasant walk(we did have to drive from our campsite to this area). During the summer they rent rowboats, paddleboats, paddleboards, canoes and kayaks for lake enjoyment and there are two sandy beaches where you can soak up the sun after a swim. We would definitely stop here again and spend more time.

    Clean Ghetto NCY Vegas strip?

Lets start out by saying that it could have been worse. Not sure how much but it could have been worse.

Started out by arriving at the grounds.

You need cash for everything. This place is scaming someone.  I'm sure they the government is not getting what they should be with an all cash business.

They show us on the map our full hookup. We get there and learn from other campers that we have to pull through but backwards all utilities are on the wrong side. Even our fire ring and picnic table was on the wrong side.

While we were there we found that there were over 500 sites only thing is that almost all of them are seasonal. Just about every seasonal camper has a golf cart. Some with loud stereos flashing lights and just about all of the drivers are drinking . Even seen kids jumping off being pushed off and trying to jump on them. Great entertainment if you are watching jackass the movie. It's not relaxing at all.  I used to live in the city and near NYC. This place looks like the Vegas strip or time Square but instead of taxies .........gulf carts until 11pm. They say there is a strict 5 mph.....yeah right cars and gulf carts zipping by all day till 11 pm.

The seasonals well I think that they let other campers in so they the seasonals can stare gock and look at you like we are a display in a department store window or a zoo exhibit. Every time they go by zipping on their carts

The spaces are so tight that one can barely fit between the next rv.   So now you have to turn up your music just to listen to what you're into.

The pools....1 is for adults only.........unless they have changed the age of adults.......there were kids in both pools.

Staff was rude and ignorant well 99.98% of whom we had encountered. The best example is when my wife and I went to the snack/ice cream place in the park. We arrived approximately 30 minutes before they closed  we waited to be waited on. We can see 3 or 4 girls in the window talking and laughing among themselves. Ignoring us calling for them.  Before we knew it..it was quiting time. On of the teens turned around and slammed the window closed and another turned off the lights.

    I could go on

Bottom line is if you are not a seasonal member don't go.  None of the seasonals want you there

    Beautiful and Quiet

This is a beautiful campground. You have to go through the national park website to make reservations, so I feel like that's what keeps it quiet maybe. My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend and somehow ended up booking a full hookup site that was really great. The sites are very spacious and mostly divided with brush. The campground is rather hilly overall and I'm not sure it's best for kids unless they're really into fishing. But it is settled right on the Allegheny Reservoir, so if you bring you kayaks you can launch right from the campground. The restrooms with showers were beautiful and the whole place was well kept. The camp isn't far from many attractions in the area. Including the kinzu skywalk which is about a 30 minute drive. Overall a wonderful quiet place to camp.

    Very very clean

I will preference by saying this is not our first time camping. I can’t say enough. Very very clean. Our site was level. No issues with any of the hookups. We have a 38 ft trailer and had plenty of room. All the seasonal residents we came in contact with were kind. The Snak Shak had good food options. Their ice cream was especially good! Very family friendly. Not sure if it was dumb luck, but we did not experience any bug issues. If I have a singe knock, if you get site 17-3, make sure the fire ring is new. Ours was pretty beat up and old.

    Campground in Allegheny National Forest

Nice location near the water. Campground has three sections to it. Once you come in the main enterance, off to your right are nice walk in tent sites. Off to the left are two loops for tent and RV camping. There are two bath houses, one near each loop. They each have three hot water showers, flush toilets and sinks. All sites have a fire ring. Some sites offer more shade than others. (We were at site #31 and it didn't have much shade.) Ice and firewood is avaliable. You are better off getting firewood down the road as you will get more wood for the money. Current price is $10 a bundle. Ice is only $2 a bag. Closest grocery store is in Kane. There are hiking trails nearby. The only thing that I didn't like was that it seemed that many of the sites were quite muddy because all of the grass was worn out. Not much grassy area for tents. Other than that it was great.
